Produced by Circus Posterus and Tomenosuke, each figure is cast in soft Japanese vinyl and then hand painted.

The Mulberry Calliope Jackalope by Kathie Olivas sits 7” tall and features 4 points of articulation, while the Mulberry Stingy Jack by Brandt Peters stands 7” tall and features 6 points of articulation. This Friday, September 9th, Tomenosuke and Circus Posterus will be releasing two new figures in their epic line of T + CP Sofubi Collection vinyl figures! For this very special release, Brandt Peters’ Stingy Jack and Kathie Olivas’ Calliope Jackalope have been cast in killer swirls of glow in the dark and pink soft Japanese vinyls to create a beautiful GID effect and feature green, black and white sprays.

Calliope Stop Motion Animated Short Film Kickstarter Campaign by Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters

The Blot doesn’t often promote Kickstarter campaigns, but I’m super excited about one that was recently launched by Circus Posterus, aka Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters! These two visionary creators are taking one of Kathie’s beloved designer toy characters, Calliope Jackalope, and creating a Calliope stop motion animated short about her world. To do this, Kathie and Brandt have teamed up with stop-motion innovator and Annie Awards Special Achievement recipient Martin Meunier (Coraline) and filmmaker Jon Schnepp (The Death of 'Superman Lives’; What Happened?). Sounds awesome so far, right!?!

Calliope is a post-apocalyptic, fantasy adventure stop-motion animated short film about an other-worldly girl who’s unaware that she’s actually Pestilence, one of the four horseman of the apocalypse. If funded, Calliope will be written and co-directed by Olivas, Peters and Meunier, executive produced by Schnepp, and will feature artisans, animators, and fabricators that have worked on stop motion features like The Nightmare Before Christmas. To fund this amazing new 8-10 minute film, Brandt and Kathie are turning to Kickstarter and their fans from around the world to help bring Calliope Jackalope to life.

Kathie and Brandt have put together a fantastic line-up of rewards for backing the Calliope KS project, including a Kickstarter exclusive graphic novel, a handmade Kickstarter exclusive Talking Spirit board and a Kickstarter exclusive oracle deck. But that’s not all! Circus Posterus is also offering rewards such as the production of new vinyl and resin figures, as well as props to be featured in the film. Calliope Official Synopsis: Calliope Jackalope is a little girl who’s unaware that she is actually one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Each card Calliope pulls conjures up an alternate universe based on one of Brandt Peters’ vintage-style underworlds. And then Slap-Happy, Stingy Jack, and the Skelves – characters based on Peters’ popular toys – are unleashed on what remains of the world.

SDCC 2015 Debut Clementine Vinyl Figure by Kathie Olivas

Meet Clementine by Kathie Olivas, the newest Circus Posterus x Tomenosuke sofubi vinyl figure! Clementine will be making her world debut at San Diego Comic-Con 2015 later this week and is limited to just 100 pieces. While this first Clementine colorway will be debuting at Comic-Con, it will see a general release shortly after the convention. First Look: Kidrobot’s The 13 Dunny Series by Brandt Peters (& Kathie Olivas)

Thanks to our friends over at Circus Posterus we now have our very first look at Kidrobot’s newest Dunny artist series, The 13!!! Kidrobot’s Upcoming Release Schedule Gets A Little Clearer!

It sounds like the long hiatuses between Kidrobot releases is finally over! A lot has happened to our favorite designer toy company in the past year that caused those long periods of silence, including being sold to NECA and the installation of Frank Kozik as KR’s creative director. Now it seems like every day we see a new teaser for an upcoming release! Those teasers include possibly a new Circus Posterus Dunny series featuring works by Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas, a new Adventure Time blind box series, a Junko Mizuno 8” Dunny, Scott Tolleson 8” Dunny and the very first production Dunny by WuzOne. But that’s not all!

Yesterday, Entertainment Earth posted a number of previously unannounced Kidrobot figures available for pre-order. While we don’t have any pictures of these exciting releases, the titles alone have The Blot super excited! While it’s not expected to hit store shelves until January 2016, we now know KR will be releasing a production Sketracha 3” Dunny by Sket One!!! It is going to seriously look amazing next to my custom resin Sketracha 8” Dunny. September 2015 brings us a new Tricky Cats blind box mini figure series, while November 2015 will see the release of more South Park mini figures! I can’t wait to find out what the “Many Faces of Cartman” is all about.

In January 2016 Amanda Visell’s long rumored artist blind box mini figure series “Ferals” will be released! If the teaser images hold true, this series will utilize a number of Kidrobot’s different Munny World characters. Last but not least are three artist inspired The Simpsons vinyl figures! Scheduled to also be released in January 2016, Kidrobot will be teaming up with world-renowned artist Ron English to release “Grin” versions of Homer and Bart as 3” vinyl figures. While that may not be something new, this next release is! KR is teaming up with Kenny Scharf to release an all new, medium sized Bart Simpsons vinyl figure inspired by Scharf’s work. This figure sounds like it could be insane! I can’t wait to find out more about all these awesome new Kidrobot releases.

Pocket Sideshow includes 3” soft Japanese vinyl mini figures of Kathie Olivas’ Penelope, Brandt Peters’ Otto, Chris Ryniak’s Puddlesproot and Amanda Louise Spayd’s Snowshoe. The “Winter Chibi” colorway features white vinyl with red, black, pink, brown and silver sprays.

These “Winter Chibi” Pocket Sideshow mini figures will be sold in three ways: full painted sets of four figures for $95, full painted sets of four figures plus blank versions of all four figures (so eight figures in total) for $150, or individual sets of 1 painted figure and its matching blank figure (2 figures in total) for $45. Any pieces remaining after opening night of the show are to go up for sale at the Circus Posterus online store December 10th.

DCon Exclusive “Bitter Mantis” Calliope Jackalope & Heathen Snake Skelve by Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters

The Blot can’t even begin to spotlight all of the amazing Designer Con 2014 exclusive art and toys Circus Posterus will be featuring at their booth this weekend. Their stable of talented artists just continues to grow! Circus Posterus and Tomenosuke continue their awesome collaboration with a new line of soft Japanese vinyl mini figures entitled Pocket Sideshow! Featuring four different characters from Circus Posterus’ amazing collective of artists, this new line of “chibi” style 3” figures looks fantastic. Pocket Sideshow includes Kathie Olivas’ Penelope, Brandt Peters’ Otto, Chris Ryniak’s Puddlesproot and Amanda Louise Spayd’s Snowshoe. The first red and black colorway debuted last weekend at Stranger Factory’s Bewitching IV group art show.
