The shamans of the Chavin culture consumed the San Pedro cactus to alter their states of consciousness and obtain greater knowledge about reality and themselves. They also acquired the traits and attributes of sacred animals, such as the jaguar, the harpy eagle, the caiman or the anaconda. The first three Chavinballs draw inspiration from those shamans and include Wachumucus, Amaru Fang and Otorongo.
