Ghost in the Shell “The Major” Screen Prints by Craig Drake x Hero Complex Gallery

After debuting at WonderCon 2017 last weekend, Hero Complex Gallery has released Craig Drake’s beautiful Ghost in the Shell screen prints online! The regular edition “The Major” screen print is based on the new live action Ghost in the Shell film in theaters now starring Scarlett Johansson, while the Japanese variant “The Major” is Drake’s own person recasting of the film with actress Sonoya Mizuno in the lead role as Major Motoko Kusanagi.

The Ghost in the Shell “The Major” Regular Edition Screen Print by Craig Drake measures 36”x24”, while the Japanese Variant measures 24”x36”. Both versions are limited to 225 pieces and retail for $65. Collectors can purchase them both now at the HCG online store.

Cast & Crew Exclusive Captain America: The Winter Soldier Movie Poster by Paolo Rivera

After designing the Cast and Crew Exclusive Captain America: The First Avenger Movie Poster back in 2011, its fitting that Marvel would ask comic book artist Paolo Rivera back to also design the cast and crew exclusive poster for Captain America 2! All of the cast and crew members who worked on Captain America: The Winter Soldier got a copy of this exclusive retro movie poster. I love that Paolo stuck with the retro theme of his original poster, but went with a slightly more modern take. This design gives off a more 1970s vibe, don’t you think!?! Boy would The Blot love to get my hands on a copy of this poster!

Captain America: The Winter Soldier Final One Sheet Movie Poster

What The Blot loves about this final theatrical one sheet movie poster for Marvel’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier is how versatile it is! I’ve gotten my hands on three different versions of this poster, the US, UK and Japan editions, and each one is slightly different. The American version is actually my favorite because it’s the only one that shows Captain America with his signature mask.

While all three versions feature Captain America, Black Widow and Nick Fury prominently, it is interesting to note the main difference between the two international posters is they’ve substituted Winter Soldier for The Falcon. I wonder if what the reason for that change was? The Blot would have gone with including them both, but that’s just me!

The last few summers IMAX has really upped its marketing of movies released in its signature Image MAXimum film format by producing some pretty sweet IMAX specific movie posters. They’ve even started giving out exclusive one sheet movie posters at their midnight screenings. IMAX has taken things one step further by releasing an entire set of red and black Captain America: The Winter Soldier character movie posters!

While the aesthetic is quite striking, it’s a little disappointing that all IMAX did for marketing campaign was trace the photos of Marvel’s original The Winter Soldier character movie poster set released earlier this year. Where’s the creativity in that one? At least they designed an all new Captain America 2 theatrical one sheet, which is really the coolest poster in the entire set!

It’s hard to imagine that The Blot would be this excited about a live action Captain America movie, much less a sequel. But here we are 6 years after the original Marvel film, Iron Man, and The Blot can’t get enough of these Marvel films. Not only is the original Captain America movie my favorite Marvel solo film to date, but the sequel, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, looks fantastic! It’s based on an amazing comic book story line, and introduces both The Falcon and The Winter Soldier to the Marvel Movie Universe. What’s not to love!?!

These brand new Captain America: The Winter Soldier teaser character movie posters Marvel unveiled yesterday look equally as bad ass. Yes they’ve been photoshopped to hell (ScarJo’s waste can’t possibly be that small), but I love them nevertheless. What can I say…I’m pumped for a proper S.H.I.E.L.D. adventure in Captain America 2! I'm trying to ignore that shell of a S.H.I.E.L.D. show currently airing on ABC.  Now when is the Black Widow getting her own film!?!

We’re just a few days away from the US premier of Marvel’s The Avengers and The Blot is getting antsy! It feels like the entire world has already seen this film already. I guess it’s payback for all the films that open in the United States first. To help get all you North American readers excited for the premier of The Avengers, check out this set of black background character movie posters. It includes a team one sheet, two banners and eight character movie posters. They’re all pretty great…simple and yet bold.

The Avengers Teaser Character One Sheet Movie Posters

Last week Marvel finally updated the website for its upcoming live action movie The Avengers, which included releasing these awesome teaser character movie posters! The Avengers has one of the largest, star studded casts of any comic book film ever produced, which means its marketing department is going to need to create at least eight different one sheets for every character movie poster sets it releases. Thankfully they went for a pretty simple, yet effective design for these teaser movie posters, combining each hero and villain with the film’s trademark “A” logo.

The Avengers Teaser Movie Poster - SDCC 2011

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 has officially begun and the leaks are already hitting the internet. Take, for example, the first one sheet movie poster for 2012’s The Avengers seen above. What is sure to be Marvel’s next summer blockbuster, The Avengers is going to be huge! The Blot can just feel it. How can you go wrong with a movie directed by Joss Whedon and starring Robert Downey Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye) and Mark Ruffalo (Hulk).

The Avengers is scheduled to premiere in theaters on Friday, May 4, 2012.

Iron Man 2 Black Widow One Sheet Movie Poster

Yesterday, it was announced that Paramount would be releasing an exclusive Black Widow Iron Man 2 one sheet movie poster at WonderCon this weekend. How cool is that!?! If you’re in the San Francisco area, head down to WonderCon and pick The Blot up one of these awesome posters! I love the idea of Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow, and this poster just reinforces that that feeling.


I don’t know how the Black Widow fits into the storyline of Iron Man 2, but I really hope her role is larger than Nick Fury’s was in the original Iron Man!

Iron Man 2 - First Look at Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow

This week in Entertainment Weekly’s annual San Diego Comic-Con issue the weekly pop culture magazine unveiled the world’s first look at Scarlett Johansson as Natasha Romanoff a.k.a. the Black Widow from Iron Man 2. (link) While I prefer the character’s look from the 80’s (short hair and grey jumpsuit), I think the film has done a fantastic job transforming Johansson into the famed Soviet spy. While they didn’t get the hair exactly right, at least they included Black Widow’s trademark wrist-thingies.


Filming of Iron Man 2 wrapped on Saturday, but fans will have to wait until May 7, 2010 to see the Marvel Comics sequel in theaters. (link) IM2 will once again be directed by Jon Favreau and stars Robert Downey, Jr., Gwyneth Paltrow, Don Cheadle (taking over the role of James “Rhodey” Rhodes originated by Terrence Howard), along with Johansson and Mickey Rourke (as Whiplash).

How I Met Your Mother

This past week The Big Bang Theory and its cast of quirky characters were rewarded with a two year renewal by CBS. (link) I can understand CBS giving Two and a Half Men its two year renewal since it’s the top rated comedy on network television and a consistent Top 5-10 hit, but The Big Bang Theory? I have a feeling Chuck Lorre, the creator of both shows, had a little something to do with this. It’s too bad the creators of How I Met Your Mother don’t have this kind of clout with the network! While The Big Bang Theory definitely deserves its early renewal, here’s hoping a similar fate is in store for the cast and crew of HIMYM.

Scarlett Johansson – Anywhere I Lay My Head

I bet most of you didn’t know Scarlett Johansson was releasing an album comprised almost entirely of Tom Waits covers, did you? The album, Anywhere I Lay My Head, is due in stores on Tuesday, May 20th and if the album is anywhere as bad as its cover art then it’s going to be a real bomb. I’ve been hearing about Johansson’s voice and this upcoming album for months, but I really don’t have a good feeling about it. On the plus side “Johansson was joined in the studio by David Bowie, who lends guest vocals on ‘Falling Down’ and ‘Fannin Street’” and the album was produced by TV on the Radio’s David Sitek. I know, I know, I was really excited about Zooey Deschanel’s foray into music so why rag on Johansson? I’m not really sure, maybe because she only has one original song on her debut album or maybe I’m just bitter. It could be that while Zooey has “indie cred” due to the roles she’s chosen in film, Scarlett is more of a Hollywood starlet. And as everyone knows, most albums made by the Hollywood elite are pretty awful. Need I remind anyone of Eddie Murphy and “Party All The Time” or Don Johnson’s duet with Barbra Streisand on “Til I Loved You?”

The Other Boleyn Girl Movie Poster

You know there is a lot of “talent” on The Other Boleyn Girl’s promotional poster but let’s be honest, no matter how great the cast is there is absolutely no chance The Blot will be seeing this movie. Evidently it’s based on a 2002 novel of the same name by British author Philippa Gregory. According to Wikipedia, The Other Boleyn Girl “is a romanticized account of the life of the 16th-century aristocrat, Mary Boleyn, who was the sister of Queen Anne Boleyn and one-time mistress of King Henry VIII of England.” (link) Sounds like a pretty big snoozer to me, but Eric Bana is a fine actor so you never know.


The movie also stars two other celebrities you might recognize on the poster, Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson. So maybe the movie will have a little more drawing power than I’m letting on. Besides, Natalie Portman doesn't make bad movies right? Well let's just ignore last year’s Mr. Magorium’s Wonder Emporium. I guess only time will tell how this movie does in the theaters.
