The Blot is actually giddy over Super7’s announcement late last night that an all new Rose Vampire vinyl figure would be released this Saturday (just in time for Valentine's Day)! As you all know by now, I love Josh Herbolsheimer’s Rose Vampire, and this PGID colorway is my favorite one so far. Add in a little white spray to Rose Vampire’s pink glow-in-the-dark vinyl and we’ve got an instant classic on our hands.
Super7’s PGID Rose Vampire goes on sale at Super7’s online store this Saturday, February 13th, at 11am PST. No price has been announced yet, but the figure will probably retail for around $30.
When I saw the “Invention of Colour” t-shirt on Threadless.com earlier this week I instantly did a double take. I was like wow, is Threadless doing a collaboration with Disney!?! The characters on this shirt look just like Mickey and co. did when they first debuted in animated shorts back in the ‘20s. I was blown away by the look and feel of the design and wanted to find out more about the shirt’s creator, Ben Hartnett. Ben explained his thought process behind the design by stating: “I'd worked in the old 40's style once as an animator (in the 90's, not the 40's!) and wanted to do it again on tees. The obvious choice to me was simply to have black and white characters inventing colour, and the best way to get the gag across was to use design clichés that everyone would recognize.”
The skies darken, the wind howls, and you’re drawn to the eerie carnival inhabited by the Carnies, an all new blind boxed mini figure series from the imagination of Brandt Peters. Reminiscent of retro animation, each of the 13 Carnies in this nightmarish new mini series produced by Kidrobot, including the two chases, stand 3 inches tall and are colored in grayscale.
Carnies blind boxes will retail for $9.95 each, and will go on sale on March 4th at Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com, and select retailers worldwide.
The Blot has been anxiously awaiting for any and all information concerning the upcoming Lost: The Complete Collection DVD box set. Thankfully, Amazon.com has come to The Blot’s rescue by announcing the Lost: The Complete Series DVD and Blu-ray box sets will go on sale August 24th, 2010! How great is that!?! I had a feeling these probably wouldn’t go on sale until Christmas 2010, so this is a whole 4 months earlier than expected.
As of now, all we know is the Lost: The Complete Collection box set will include 38 disks and have a run time of 5,074 minutes. I can’t wait to see what kind of crazy extras Lindelof and Cuse cram into this one. I might even finally upgrade to Blu-ray so I can watch my favorite Losties in HD.
You can currently pre-order both versions of the Lost: The Complete Collection box sets at Amazon.com. Lost: The Complete Collection DVD box set retails for $229.99, but is on sale at Amazon.com for $148.99 here. Lost: The Complete Collection Blu-ray box set retails for $279.99, but it too is on sale at Amazon.com for $195.99 here.
The Blot knows Lostfans worldwide have been dying to know when the show’s series finale would air on ABC. There has been tons of speculation, but Lost executive producers Damon Lindelof and Carlton Cuse set the record straight on Jimmy Kimmel Live! last Tuesday night by announcing their show would end on Sunday, May 23rd, 2010 with a two hour series finale. Let the Lost Season 6 season finale and series finale party planning commence!
The sixth and final season of Lost airs Tuesday nights at 9/8c on ABC.
Buff Monster recently collaborated with the super talented Brian Ewing on a concert poster for next week’s Faith No More show in Auckland, New Zealand with the Eagles of Death Metal. The Blot is very impressed with how great a job Buff and Ewing did in melding their two unique styles to create such an awesome looking print. While it’s been a few years since I’ve listened to Faith No More, I really want to add this concert poster to my collection!
The Buff Monster x Brian Ewing Faith No More concert poster will be available at the show on February 18 in Auckland, New Zealand the Vector Arena, and then later on online at SecretSerpents.com.
The Blot has to admit, I totally glossed over Threadless’ Donkey Kong themed t-shirt “Arcade Expressionism” when it first came two weeks ago. I don’t know what was the matter with me, because this video game inspired t-shirt rocks! It’s such a simple idea, and yet I’m totally blown away by the way artist Brock Davis pulls it off. How has no one ever thought of this idea before!?! It’s pure genius! Now we just need a new Super Mario Bros. Wii game in this style.
As you all know, The Blot is a sucker for retro video game t-shirts, so this abstract interpretation of the Nintendo classic Donkey Kong is a must get! You can purchase “Arcade Expressionism” at Threadless.com for $18. The shirt comes in both guys and girls styles, sizes S-2XL.
Similar to Buff Monster’s Designer Con Exclusive, Buff’s Valentine’s Day exclusive is a 100% hand painted 3" Buff Monster vinyl figure only available at BuffMonster.com! Each figure is carefully painted by Buff and then finished with a super high gloss automotive clear coat.
Buff Monster’s custom hand painted Valentine’s Day figure has an edition size of 10, plus 1 Artist Proof, and will retail for $200 each. The Valentine’s Day 3” Buff Monster figure comes packed in a cardboard box silksceened by Buff, and includes a signed and numbered four-color silkscreened print.
These awesome figures will be released at 10am PST on Tuesday, February 9th (so there is a good chance you'll receive it by the 14th) on BuffMonster.com.
Tonight on Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations, Tony explores the Hudson Valley, the body of water just upriver from his home, New York City. The episode begins with Tony visiting a floating hot dog stand! How cool is that!?! Next, Tony heads to Pine Island in the black dirt region of the Hudson Valley. This area was once thought to be untouchable by farmers because of the swampy lands. Tony joins the Matuszewski family in their sausage shop, which has been family-owned since it was started in 1947. The chef is a little kooky, and the parking lot has some interesting characters, but the food sounds delicious.
After that, Tony hits the road with Michael Ruhlman for a visit to the Culinary Institute of America (CIA), a.k.a. Tony's Alma mater. Equipped with a chef's coat and hat, Tony and Michael are assigned a stir-fried squid with basil dish, to be made for loads of hungry students. Bourdain then visits the home of chef Michael Pardus for some Asian food. Sierra Pardus (Michael's 10-year old daughter) gives Tony a run for his money when it comes to criticism. Tony says, "I've never encountered such an incise critic of my life's work!" You can check out a preview of this very hilarious conversation in the video clip below. That girl has some guts!
And since this last week was Groundhog's Day, what could be more appropriate than a meal with the one and only Bill Murray!?! At the end of tonight’s “The Hudson Valley” episode, Tony and Bill break bread at X20, Peter Kelly’s restaurant built on a pier on The Hudson River. Murray is definitely my new favorite No Reservations celebrity guest star, and The Blot is excited to share a little sneak peek video of Murray’s appearance:
Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations airs every Monday night at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.
