To commemorate the debut of the new animated film, Ultraman: Rising, on Netflix, Nakatomi has teamed up with superstar artist Tom Whalen to release a new officially licensed movie poster for the film! As Nakatomi explained, “The art on this print had to be kept under wraps to not ruin the surprise reveal of ULTRA-DAD – but now the world can behold his shiny glory!”

Nakatomi has unveiled it’s launching a new ongoing line of officially licensed Ultraman prints!  First up is this epic “Ultraman 55th Anniversary” screen print by artist Tom Whalen. As Whalen explained, “Despite being immersed in kaiju culture from a very early age, I had never seen a full episode of Ultraman until I was well into my twenties. It wasn’t until I attended a late night screening of the pilot episode that I fully understood what absolute insanity the Ultra-universe held in store. Needless to say, I’ve been hooked ever since and I’m honored and humbled to help celebrate Ultraman’s 55th with Tsuburaya and Nakatomi!”

Frankenstein “Despondence” Artist Edition Print by Bernie Wrightson x Nakatomi Inc

The next release in Nakatomi’s ongoing Bernie Wrightson Artist Edition Print Series dropped yesterday and it is the hauntingly beautiful “Despondence”.  This image is from Wrightson’s masterwork – his illustrated adaptation of Shelley’s Frankenstein!  Reproduced from a scan of the original art board, provided by film director Frank Darabont, this is the closest anyone can come to owning the original piece.

“Despondence” by Bernie Wrightson is a 12”x18” hand numbered fine art giclee embossed in the bottom corner with Bernie’s distinctive “W”.  Although the original art board was drawn at 11”x16”, Nakatomi has given extra bleed on the sides of the piece to make this suitable for standard framing.  Limited to 300 pieces, this Frankenstein print can be purchased now at store.nakatomiinc.com/berniewrightsonsfrankenstein.aspx for just $50.  As always, the artist’s share of the proceeds from the sale of this print will go to Liz Wrightson.

Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein Puzzle Kickstarter by Nakatomi Launches Today!

Nakatomi’s newest officially licensed Bernie Wrightson project are these epic puzzles of this iconic artist’s Frankenstein artwork, which have launched exclusively today on Kickstarter (seen here). This project is to produce the first set in what Nakatomi is planning to be an ongoing Bernie Wrightson Puzzle Series, with new releases multiple times a year.

Each of these 1,000 piece Bernie Wrightson Frankenstein puzzles will be printed from high-resolution scans onto super-thick deluxe puzzle board stock, with a gloss coating so your puzzle will last for years through many builds. Each puzzle comes in a custom resealable collector’s box with a magnetic closure.

As a former Austinite, I was blown away by Tim Doyle’s newest art print “2222×35”! As Tim explained, “I love when winter starts, and the sunsets are spectacular all through Austin. This is a drawing of what it looks like facing west at the intersection of 2222 and IH-35.” This print really takes me back to my years in Austin when I used to get to see this amazing image all the time.

The full detail of Bernie’s linework is staggering in person – crisp, immaculate line-work, showing a master illustrator in his element. In December of 2019, Nakatomi published an “Artist Edition” of this image, which was a reproduction of the original art board. This screen print edition of the image is a representation of how the work appeared as published in the original book, but at the size of the original art board.
