DC Comics’ The Sandman is one of The Blot’s all time favorite comic book series. So I’ve been intently following news of the creation and filming of the new The Sandman streaming television series by Netflix. Here’s hoping they do justice to Neil Gaiman’s magnum opus. To hype the show’s world premiere on August 5th, Netflix released this San Diego Comic-Con 2022 exclusive teaser television poster featuring the series entire cast. Spider-Man: The Animated Series Giclee Print by Grey Matter Art

Grey Matter Art has a really fun released scheduled for today, a Spider-Man: The Animated Series fine art giclee print based on the 1994 television cartoon! Spider-Man “Sinister Six” Marvel Screen Print by Tom Whalen x Mondo

Later today, Mondo will be releasing the third and final round of posters from their “Mondo x Info•Rama” gallery show, an exhibit featuring infographic film posters from Tom Whalen, Kevin Tong and Matt Taylor. SDCC 16 Exclusive Marvel Legends The Raft 6” Action Figure Box Set

Finally, Hasbro has unveiled its San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Exclusive Marvel Legends 6” Action Figure Box Set! This year’s theme is The Raft, which is Marvel's maximum security prison for super villains located in the middle of the ocean close to Ryker’s Island. The packaging recreates cells inside The Raft and features an epic battle between Spider-Man and five villains breaking out of prison, Sandman, Enchantress, Abomination, Purple Man and Dreadknight. The Blot almost wants to buy this gigantic set of six 6” action figures just for that Purple Man figure!

SDCC 2012 Exclusive Death DC Comics/Vertigo Action Figure by Mattel

It has been a very long time since The Blot got really excited about a San Diego Comic-Con exclusive from Mattel, but when I do it almost always is a DC Comics figure. The last was probably 2009 when Matty released the Wonder Twins box set. But when I heard Mattel was releasing a Death action figure at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 I got giddy! What are the odds of a release like this!?! I guess it shouldn’t have been such a surprise to see an action figure of a primarily Vertigo characters since Mattel just released a Swamp Thing action figure last year, but I really was seriously shocked by the announcement.

Some envision Death as a grim reaper or dark angel to be feared. But as created by Neil Gaiman for DC Comics’ line of Vertigo comics, the Sandman`s older sister is pretty, perky and always gets the job done. Death’s been around since the beginning of time and is exactly the kind of girl you`ll want to follow into the unknown. Mattel’s 8” Death action figure wears her trademark ankh necklace, comes with a skull-themed display base and retails for $25 exclusively at the MattyCollector.com SDCC 2012 booth.

Coraline Alphabet Promo Movie Posters

Coraline is an upcoming horror/fantasy stop-motion animation movie based on the children’s novel of the same name by British author Neil Gaiman. In the spirit of full disclosure, I purchased the novel Coraline the week it came out in 2002 and it has sat on my bookshelf ever since. I keep meaning to read it (I really do), and it’s not even that long so I don’t know what my problem. It’s supposed to excellent and has won numerous literary awards since it was released, and yet still it sits there.


Why you might ask then did I purchase Coraline almost seven years ago? Because of Neil Gaiman, end of story. The guy is point blank one of the best writers in the world. His Sandman series published by the DC Comics imprint Vertigo is considered a masterpiece and many literary critics who know way more about the subject than I do consider his comic book series worthy of comparison to some of the best written stories of the modern era. Because of that I’ve started to read Gaiman’s other written works, most of which are not in comic book form.



From the director of The Nightmare Before Christmas and James and the Giant Peach, Coraline is the story of a young girl who walks through a secret door in her new home and discovers an alternate version of her life – a better version. But when this wondrously off-kilter, fantastical adventure turns dangerous and her “Other” parents try to keep her forever, Coraline must count on her resourcefulness, determination, and bravery to get back home. As you can tell from the story’s description, many have compared the movie to Alice In Wonderland and for good reason.



To start the official promotion of Coraline, Focus Features unveiled a set of alphabet themed promotional posters this week, with each letter poster being released exclusively on a different website. The Blot has found all 26 posters and is excited to bring them to you today.
