Sleepy Dan Series 4 T-Shirt Collection

Dang, The Blot totally slept on Sleepy Dan’s Series 4 T-Shirt Collection! But thankfully both of Series 4’s awesome sleep inspired tees are still available at the Sleepy Dan online store. First up is “Stay Fluft”, which features Sleepy Dan’s signature creation the Pillow Monster back to terrorize the feathered fowl for a feast. Then there’s the Red Edition “Monster Kicks” design, which was previously released in a Cement Grey colorway. After the Cement Grey “Monster Kicks” sold out so quickly, Sleepy Dan decided to bring it back in a homage to the Fire Red Jordan 3 sneakers. Both designs are water based printed on 100% cotton, so they're super soft and are sleepy comfortable.

“Ded Ant” T-Shirt by Sleepy Dan

Check out “Ded Ant”, the first design in Sleepy Dan’s upcoming Dead Tired T-Shirt Collection! This tee was created for a local skate park party entitled “Get Ded” and turned out pretty nice. Sleepy Dan T-Shirt Series 3

Last week Sleepy Dan released its newest series of sleep inspired t-shirts, hats and prints at a pretty cool Sleepy Dan art show at Dallas’ Circuit 12 Contemporary Gallery. One of my favorite lines of any movie is “Tonight is your night bro!” from Twins starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Danny DeVito. Sleepy Dan has taken that classic line and turned it into an awesome neon sign t-shirt design. Sleepy Dan Series 3 also includes a very cool waffle design of the Sleepy Dan logo entitled “Wake & Bake”, which pays homage to the early morning baker trying to set the tone for the day by getting toasted!

But that’s not all…Sleepy Dan has also released a new charcoal and black wool blend “Wake Up” flatbill snapback hat. The hat has a limited edition run size of just 60 pieces, and will never be remade once it sells out. Sleepy Dan x Dustin Cavazos “In and Out of Sleep” T-Shirt

In conjunction with the release of musician Dustin Cavazos’ new album In and Out of Sleep, Sleepy Dan has designed this awesome new t-shirt of the same name. The design recognizes the hypnotic trance of being brought to and from the dream state (with a little help). This gray on black t-shirt features a single color print with a tiny stripe detail. What The Blot really loves about this release is how the tee’s “pitch black” color scheme perfectly complements Sleep Dan’s sleep theme, especially since most of us need our rooms pitch black before going to sleep.

Sleepy Dan T-Shirt Series 2

If there’s one thing to know about The Blot it’s that I love to sleep! It’s probably why I’m so in love with Texas’ own Sleepy Dan and his awesome sleep themed indie clothing brand. Dan’s been doing some incredible things up in Dallas since he launched his brand back in 2011, and I know the sky’s the limit for this inventive designer. And for all you designer toy collectors, Dan also makes some killer custom figures!

To launch 2012 designs, Sleepy Dan organized a gallery event for local artists to create Sleepy Dan brand themed paintings while Dan did some live t-shirt screen printing. What a way to kick off Sleepy Dan T-Shirt Series 2, which features four sleep themed designs. All four of these designs do a great job showcasing Dan’s unique art style, but I especially love the “Sleeper Hold” design, which features a poor little teddy bear getting the sleeper hold put on it! I’m also digging the “Bed Head” design, which reminds me of a simpler time…like when The Blot still had hair!

Sleepy Dan Series 1 Tick Tock Wall Clocks

This week Sleepy Dan released a new line of designer wall clocks. The Blot definitely did not see this one coming, but it makes perfect sense! When you’re as sleepy as Sleepy Dan you need a little help getting up in the morning. This inaugural release of Sleepy Dan’s Tick Tock Wall Clocks includes two designs, the classic “Sleep Attack” design and Dan’s newest design “Yawn.”

Sleepy Dan T-Shirt Series 1

The Blot can’t remember exactly when I first found out about Sleepy Dan and his fledgling Dallas, Texas based clothing line, but the moment I stumbled upon his website I knew he had something big. And this was before he had even produced his first t-shirt! Sleepy Dan had a dream and a vision for what his new brand could be and I loved the story he was telling. According to his website, the nickname Sleepy Dan describes anyone who is overly motivated but can’t find time to sleep. Often seen tired during the day due to long working night hours, the alias can be used to tease someone for being found yawning, daydreaming, or half awake.

The purpose of the Sleepy Dan brand is to use pop culture art to uncover and unify those who share Dan’s love of sleep. And if you know The Blot then you know I love my Zzzzz’s, not to mention all things pop culture! The brand insignia is an alarm clock surrounded by lightning bolts, which symbolizes the energy of the alarm ringing to wake us up and get our day started. The brand message “You Snooze, You Lose!” gives the clear understanding that too much sleep will inhibit progress and personal growth.

Sleepy Dan Series 1 features some really fun designs, including “Sleep Attack,” the brand’s first illustrated bedroom character. But what I really like about this collection are all the fun little details Dan has included in each design. My favorite is “Sleepy Bowser”, which is a homage to the main villain in Nintendo's Super Mario video game series. You may not be able to tell this from the photo, but this 8-bit version of Bowser is made up of tiny Sleepy Dan alarm clock insignias. How cool is that!?!? I also love the “Sheep Icon” t-shirt, which combines Dan’s alarm clock insignia with the one animal everyone counts when desperately trying to fall fast asleep.
