SDCC 2022 Exclusive Wonder Twins 1/10 Scale DC Comics Statue Set by Iron Studios x Sideshow

As part of Sideshow Con 2022, Sideshow Collectibles has released this amazing San Diego Comic-Con 2022 Exclusive Wonder Twins 1/10 Scale DC Comics Statue Set by Iron Studios! Based on original comic book references, these polystone statues of twins Zan and Jayna are hand-painted and limited edition.

Zan comes on a stand made of water representing his water transformation powers, while Jayna includes the Wonder Twins’ pet monkey Gleek and comes standing on an earth based stand representing her animal transformation powers. Zan is 7.8” tall and 5.1” wide, while his twin sister Jayna is 8.2” tall and 5.1” wide. Super Friends fans can purchase this two statue set now at Sideshow.com for $265.

“Challenge of the Superfriends” DC Comics Screen Print by Dave Perillo x Grey Matter Art

Oh man, The Blot was super pumped to learn Grey Matter Art would be releasing an officially licensed screen print for one of my all time favorite cartoons, Challenge of the Superfriends, by artist Dave Perillo!  This sequel to the iconic DC Comics cartoon Super Friends pits the ‘70s and ‘80s animated version of the Justice League against the evil Legion of Doom.  As GMA explained, “Dave is able to feature all of our favorite characters into this poster making it an ultimate who’s who of DC Superfriends and it also serves quite well as a companion piece to the Justice League Unlimited poster we did earlier this year!”

Challenge of the Superfriends by Dave Perillo is an 18”x24” hand numbered DC Comics screen print.  The Regular Edition is limited to 100 pieces and will retail for $40, while the Foil Variant is limited to 65 pieces and will retail for $55.  Both Justice League posters will go on sale at 1pm ET on Thursday, December 17th, at GreyMatterArt.com.

New Batman Pop! DC Comics Vinyl Figures by Funko!

Funko has announced they’re releasing three new killer Batman Pop! vinyl figures based on different versions of DC Comics’ Dark Knight from over the years. The Blot’s personal favorite is the old school Super Friends Batman based on the iconic animated television series! I love this version of the Caped Crusader. Funko is also releasing a “classic” Batman, which looks to be inspired by the Batman ’89 movie, and an Earth 1 Batman based on the new-ish line of graphic novel of the same name.

Each new Batman Pop! vinyl figure stands 3.75” tall, features one point of articulation and comes packaged in a full color displayable window box. Collectors can pre-order these awesome new DC Comics toys now at Entertainment Earth for $10.99 each here.

Super Friends “Legion of Doom” DC Comics Print by Jim Mahfood

The Blot’s kind of obsessed with Jim Mahfood’s newest DC Comics print! Inspired by the classic animated television series Super Friends, “Legion of Doom” features Mahfood’s unique take on the iconic DC Comics team of super villains. Batman “In The Batmobile” Screen Print by Bruce Yan

At WonderCon 2015, Hero Complex Gallery released this awesome Batman screen print by Bruce Yan titled “In The Batmobile”! I love the retro feel to this design that was clearly inspired by the old school Batman and Super Friends cartoons from the 1970s. It’s even got a little of the awesome old school dot matrix effect going on that The Blot grew up with in comic books and newspaper comic strips back in the day. A design perfectly inspired by the art of Roy Lichtenstein!

“In The Batmobile” by Bruce Yan is a 36”x24” Batman screen print. The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 60 pieces and retails for $40, while the Metallic Variant is limited to just 35 pieces and retails for $50. Batman 75th Anniversary Action Figure 4 Pack Set 2 by DC Comics

Batman’s 75th Anniversary is almost here, and DC Collectibles has announced a new line of action figures to celebrate this huge milestone for DC Comics’ Dark Knight! The Batman 75th Anniversary Action Figure 4 Pack Set 2 includes four different interpretations of Batman by three iconic artists and one legendary animated series: “The Dark Knight Returns” Batman by Frank Miller, “New 52” Batman by Greg Capullo, “Justice” Batman by Alex Ross and animated Batman from the hit ‘70s and ‘80s cartoon Super Friends. Each figure features a unique paint deco only available in this 75th Anniversary box set. I for one have never seen a Super Friends Batman with a black and grey outfit. Pretty cool!

Super Friends Action Figures - DC Universe Classics Wave 18

Mattel announced its eighteenth (yes 18th!) wave of DC Universe Classics action figures at Toy Fair 2011, and this wave has long time DC Comics fans very, very excited! It’s because DCUC Wave 18 is comprised almost entirely of characters from the uber-popular 1980’s Super Friends cartoon. Wave 18 includes Super Friends characters Black Vulcan, Samurai, El Dorado and Apache Chief (the Collect and Connect figure). We also get a Toyman action figure based on the villain’s look from the Super Friends cartoon and two of The Blot’s favorite Suicide Squad members: Bronze Tiger in his classic look (with a swappable unmasked head) and Captain Boomerang in his new look from Brightest Day.

To be honest, after the release of the Super Friends JLU 3-pack, which included Black Vulcan, Samurai and Apache Chief, I honestly did not expect Mattel to include these forgotten characters in its DCUC line as well. It seemed like Mattel was using its DCUC line to bring back DC’s other popular 1980’s cartoon/toy line, the Super Powers collection. Boy was I wrong and thankfully so! I’ve got a feeling Wave 18 is going to be highly sought after by collectors new and old, so if you see these figures pop up at your local toy stores grab them while you can!

DC Universe Classics Super Friends Wave 18 is scheduled to hit stores sometime in July 2011. Each figure will retail for around $17 and all 6 action figures can currently be pre-ordered from Entertainment Earth here.

SDCC 09 - Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna T-Shirts by Graphitti Designs

Today, The Blot is going to finally post all of the random pictures of stuff that I took at San Diego Comic Con 2009, and I’m starting off by one of my favorite purchases: his and her Wonder Twins t-shirts! Since I figured it was pointless to buy just a Zan t-shirt, I asked Aly if she might want a matching purple shirt with the letter J on it. Aly of course had no idea who the Wonder Twins were, but she really wanted to dress up and this was about as far as I was willing to go.


So, we bought the two t-shirts you see above on Thursday afternoon and ended up wearing them on Saturday. They were a huge hit at SDCC and as it turns out, they Graphitti Designs sold out of them on Friday. I’m guessing they were popular enough to warrant mass distribution, but the Wonder Twins Zan and Jayna shirts are still not showing up on the Graphitti Designs website. If you want one I suggest asking your local comic book shop to investigate their availablility or contact Graphitti Designs directly.

JLU Super Friends Action Figure 3 Pack - Apache Chief, Black Vulcan & Samurai

The Blot’s post last week about the upcoming DC Universe Classics Wonder Twins 2 Pack sparked a good discussion in the post’s comments section of the greatness that is the Hanna-Barbera produced Super Friends cartoon. All that talk led me to surfing the web and I stumbled upon a Wikipedia rumor of an upcoming JLU Super Friends 3 pack. And well, after a little bit of Googling look what I found!


According to Apache Chief’s Wikipedia page the figures above were revealed at the 2009 New York Comic Con and will be released at some point this year. How I missed this vital information I have no idea! As with all of Mattel’s Justice League Unlimited toy line, the Super Friends 3 pack, which will include Apache Chief, Black Vulcan and Samurai, will be sold exclusively at Target.

DC Universe Classics Wonder Twins 2 Pack with SDCC Exclusive Gleek

Wow, it’s early April and news of upcoming San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusives is already starting to leak out! Mattel and its official Mattel collecting website MattyCollector.com will be releasing a number of SDCC exclusives this summer, but the one that has The Blot really excited is their DC Universe Classics Wonder Twins action figure 2 pack. That’s right, the one and only Wonder Twins, Zan and Jayna, are available for the first time in Mattel’s DC Universe Classics line sculpted by the world famous Four Horsemen. This is definitely one SDCC exclusive I am going to have to get!


As fans of the Super Friends cartoon probably remember, each Wonder Twin had the ability morph into different forms; Zan can take the form of any type of water, while Jayna can take the form of any type of animal, real or imaginary. To recreate this, the Wonder Twins box set also includes Zan in the form of water (in a bucket naturally) and Jayna in the form of a hawk.


As an added bonus, available ONLY as an exclusive gift with the purchase of the Wonder Twins box set at San Diego Comic Con 2009: the Wonder Twins’ mischievous monkey, Gleek! Gleek is only available this summer at the convention and he will not be included with any sets sold online afterwards (the Wonder Twins will be available without Gleek on MattyCollector.com after SDCC 2009).


While the price and edition size of the DC Universe Classics Wonder Twins 2 pack is not yet know, we do know they will come in special window box packaging complete with character accurate accessories as well as amazing light and sound action. Hopefully this means the figures can say “Wonder Twins powers activate!” As more details become available I will be sure to update this post.
