The METACRYPT crew - Brian Ewing and Hateball – have reunited this weekend at Designer Con 2018 and it feels so good! The behind METACRYPT – Brian Ewing and Hateball – have released two fantastic new colorways of their popular Shub Zeroth vinyl figure exclusively at San Diego Comic-Con 2017! The second colorway is the Organ Donor Shub Zeroth, which is a mixed parts release featuring 12 different colors of soft Japanese vinyl parts. What’s really great about this colorway is that it shows off just how many different parts make up each Shub Zeroth figure. Zinewolf Dead Presidents Edition Vinyl Figure by Hateball

Ooh, earlier this week Hateball surprised his legion of fans by dropping one final Zinewolf release for 2016! The Dead Presidents Edition Zinewolf (on sale now) looks freaking insane. I’m amazed how Hateball and DSKI One were able to transform the Zinewolf into a colorway that really looks like it was made out of real US currency. As Justin Jewett of Hateball explains, “I've had a fascination with the visual aspects of money/coinage for a long time; a fascination that is not completely disconnected from my Arcane Sigil project.”

The Dead Presidents Zineworlf is cast in white vinyl and features multiple green and black rubs. Each figure features 6 points of articulation and includes a magnetically attached beast mask. “Duck Wolf” Donald Duck Inspired Zinewolf Vinyl Figure by Hateball

Hateball’s Zinewolf is back with an entirely new personality! The Duck Wolf pays tribute to the Mouse’s perpetually angry best friend. A shaky friend who nobody really knows. SDCC 16 Exclusive Shub Zeroth Vinyl Figures by METACRYPT (Brian Ewing x Hateball)

METACRYPT (aka Brian Ewing and Hateball) are coming to San Diego Comic-Con 2016, and bringing with them two epic SDCC 2016 Exclusive Shub Zeroth releases! First up is the Comic-Con exclusive Metametheus Shub Zeroth, which appears to be cast in marbled black and white soft Japanese vinyl, and comes unpainted. The second release is the Bone Shub Zeroth, which is cast in white soft Japanese vinyl, and is beautifully painted with gold and black sprays/rubs by DSKIONE. Both colorways of this awesome 9” vinyl figures can be purchased at Brian Ewing’s SDCC booth #4505.

“Apollo” Shub Zeroth Vinyl Figure by METACRYPT (Brian Ewing x Hateball)

It’s been forever, but METACRYPT (aka Brian Ewing and Hateball) have finally released a new colorway of their epic Shub Zeroth vinyl figure! Release.13 is the Apollo Shub Zeroth, which was cast in crisp white soft Japanese vinyl and features bright red, metallic silver, gold, blue and black sprays. This sweet looking space themed 9” figure comes packaged in an astronaut bag with a special silk-screened foil header and a 1.25” double-posted commemorative mission pin. Unfortunately, the Apollo Shub Zeroth is now sold out at the METACRYPT online store, where it originally sold for $135.

New York Comic Con 2015 is here and the epic exclusives just keep on coming! The METACRYPT crew (aka Brian Ewing and Hateball) have unleashed the NYCC 2015 Exclusive “Supermoon” Shub Zeroth upon the Big Apple. This unpainted figure is cast in beautiful glow in the dark soft Japanese vinyl and stands a whopping 9” tall! The Blot finally got to see a Shub Zeroth in person at MondoCon last weekend and it is epic! I love all the crazy detailing and articulation Brian and Justin put into this wild alien from the beyond. SDCC 15 Exclusive “Blacklight Rainbow” Shub Zeroth Vinyl Figure by METACRYPT (Brian Ewing x Hateball)

San Diego Comic-Con 2015 is almost upon us and it wouldn’t be SDCC without a killer exclusive Shub Zeroth vinyl figure by METACRYPT (aka Brian Ewing and Hateball). The ominous “Blacklight Rainbow” Shub Zeroth was painted by Candie Bolton in fluorescent and pastel hues of blue, orange, and green on butter-yellow soft Japanese vinyl. Standing 9” tall and featuring tons of articulation, the San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive “Blacklight Rainbow” Shub Zeroth is limited to just 5 pieces and will retail for $130 at Ewing’s SDCC booth #4503.

Check out the awesome M.U.S.C.L.E. inspired colorway of Hateball’s Zinewolf vinyl figure! As Hateball explained, “I love MUSCLE, I love mashups, and I love Zinewolf. So obviously I needed to make this version for myselt...and for you.” Cast in M.U.S.C.L.E. pink “flesh” soft Japanese vinyl, each 6.5” Zinewolf also includes a matching keshi-style “flesh” M.U.S.C.L.E. version of Zinewolf! “Green Scene” Zinewolf Vinyl Figure by Hateball

Last Friday (April 10th), Hateball released the newest colorway of his adorably twisted vinyl figure, the “Green Scene” Zinewolf! What makes this figure extra special is the story behind it. According to Hateball, this is “the vision I've had since the inception of this creepy little creep. I collect green, unpainted toys. So naturally I've made a gang of dudes to fit into my collection. There are some spares, and as such, I am sharing them with you, Zinewolf's public.” A vinyl figure made by a toy collector to fit in his own collection. Gotta love a story like that!

There were only 5-6 “Green Scene” Zinewolf vinyl figures created in a variety of shades of green, including a translucent light green with gold pearl, a darker green with even darker fleck in it, avocado green, a lime/glow swirl, and a mixture of them all. Each figure stands 5-7” tall, features 6 points of articulation, and includes a magnetically attached beast mask. These awesome figures retailed for just $65 at the Hateball online store and included a copy of the new Green Scene Zinewolf zine. Unfortunately for us all, they almost immediately upon release.

Therefore Ghost Mini Figure by Hateball

Hateball has just released a spooky little rubber mini figure, the Therefore Ghost, and The Blot just loves the symbolism behind it! As you can tell from the many items available on the Hateball webstore there are two pretty big themes running throughout, ghosts and the therefore symbol - ∴ - which is most commonly used in mathematical and theorem notation. Inspired by a little rubber ghost that Hateball’s son pulled from the treasure box at school for being a good boy, with a simple rotation of the ghost’s face the Therefore Ghost was born! Now it’s a harbinger of thereforedom that brings cheer into the lives of others.

Produced by Trutek, the Therefore Ghost mini figure stands 1.5” tall and was cast in white rubber. You can pick one up at the Hateball online store for just $8.

Friday the 13th T-Shirt Collection by Hateball

The Blot can’t even begin to decipher the meaning behind Hateball’s Friday the 13th T-Shirt Collection, but man are these four designs awesome! The “Spongebob Seele” is evidently a mash-up for SponegeBob SquarePants and the sigil (the triangle with 3 eyes on one side and 4 on the other) from the popular anime Neon Genesis Evangelion. The Zinewolf, Hateball’s flagship toy, is the subject of two different designs in this Friday the 13th T-Shirt Collection, one by Lynn Tobin and one by Daggers for Teeth. The Zinewolf is a wild character that has been released in a number of epic colorways, and The Blot loves seeing different artists’ take on this unique creation. Last but definitely not least is “Therefore, Mickey”, which features Disney’s favorite mouse on a black tee giving Hateball a shout-out.

The Friday the 13th T-Shirt Collection by Hateball is currently available for purchase in extremely limited quantities via the Hateball online store. Each shirt retails for just $25 each and comes in sizes S-XXL (although many sizes are already sold out).

DCon Exclusive “Ghost” Marbled Zinewolf Vinyl Figure by Hateball

Although this is not the typical style of vinyl figure you’ll find reviewed here at The Blot Says, I find myself really loving Hateball’s new Zinewolf vinyl figure! There’s something about the Zinewolf’s mask that really draws me in. I love that crazy Ed "Big Daddy" Roth vibe it’s giving off! While at Designer Con 2014, Hateball had with him a very limited run of these awesome marbled unpainted “Ghost” Edition Zinewolfs. Cast a killer swirl of black, orange and glow in the dark soft Japanese vinyl, this 5-7” tall DCon 2014 exclusive colorway retailed for $90 each. I haven’t heard if this third Zinewolf colorway sold out last weekend or not, but if you want to try to get one I recommend emailing Hateball here ASAP!

Rumor has it there are also a few of these awesome orange and black Halloween Zinewolf vinyl figures still available! For Zinewolf’s second release, Hateball released the Laughing Lycan in semi-translucent, brighter-than-bright safety orange, and gloss-as-f*ck, blacker-than-black black soft Japanese vinyl. Featuring 6 points of articulation, with magnetically-assisted beast mask mount, the Halloween Zinewolf can be purchased now by emailing Hateball.

Tonight is opening night of Brian Ewing’s new solo art show “Scream With Me” at Galerie F in Chicago, IL. Along with some amazing new prints, Brian will be releasing the first ever marbled Shub Zeroth vinyl figure! The unpainted Release.9 [Special Type] {Scream With Me} Shub Zeroth by METACRYPT (Brian Ewing x Hateball) is cast in a swirled mix of deep gray and flesh colored soft Japanese vinyl. This 9” figure is extremely limited and will be available on a first-come first-served basis at the show only for $125. NYCC 14 Exclusive “Evangelioth” Shub Zeroth Vinyl Figure by METACRYPT (Brian Ewing x Hateball)

The Blot’s new favorite Shub Zeroth colorway will be dropping at New York Comic Con 2014, and this is definitely one release not to miss! For the eighth Shub Zeroth release, Metacrypt (a collaboration between Brian Ewing and Hateball) has turned to anime for inspiration. Inspired by Neon Genesis Evangelion, the Evangelioth Edition Shub Zeroth was cast in violet soft Japanese vinyl with green and silver lame, and features black, bright green, metallic purple, orange, and silver sprays. Collectors can pick one up at the Lulubell Toys NYCC booth #408 for $125 each.

SDCC 14 Exclusive Release.6 Shub Zeroth Vinyl Figure by METACRYPT (Brian Ewing x Hateball)

It’s not San Diego Comic-Con without the release of an exclusive Shub Zeroth by Metacrypt (a collaboration between Brian Ewing and Hateball). For Release.6, the San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Shub Zeroth is cast in light gray vinyl and is painted in tones of black, green, copper, pink, and gold by the one and only David “DSKI One” Osowski. The painted Release.6 Shub Zeroth vinyl figure will be made available at 1pm on Thursday, July 24th, during the Metacrypt event at the Lulubell Toys SDCC booth #5047 for $120. Any remaining figures will be made available at Brian Ewing's SDCC booth #4503.

In addition to the painted run, there will be a very limited number of unpainted Shub Zeroth figures available in light gray along with standalone Shub Zeroth heads (articulated at both horns, both ears, and torch) in white and green for just $25. These releases will be available at Brian Ewing’s SDCC SDCC booth #4503.

This Saturday Brian Ewing’s a solo exhibition “Horror Business” opens at Rivet Gallery! The show will encompass new and old limited edition screen print work by the Brian, as well as an exclusive colorway of the vinyl sofubi toy Shub Zeroth by Metacrypt’s (Brian Ewing x Hateball). Release.3 [SPECIAL TYPE] {NEGOCIO DE HORROR} Shub Zeroth stands 9” tall and is cast in strawberry red soft Japanese vinyl with multiple sprays. Collectors can pick one up from Rivet beginning Saturday, November 2nd at 7pm for $125 each.

The Blot can’t even imagine how awesome this show is going to be. Ewing’s print work is so detailed I can only imagine how much is missed not seeing his prints in person. If you live in the Columbus, Ohio area you have to visit Rivet to see this show! An opening reception for “Horror Business” will be held on November 2nd from 7-10pm with Brian Ewing in attendance. The exhibition will be on display through November 30th with a lecture and Q&A with Brian to close out the exhibition.
