Up Edition Blue Wyger Vinyl Figure by Sam Flores

The blue Up Edition Wyger is the third colorway of Sam Flores’ new vinyl figure sensation. The Blot still thinks the OG orange Wyger colorway is still the best, but I do love me some blue vinyl. The Wyger features elegant gradient blends, descriptive tiger stripes and key Sam Flores elements such as the over sized clutched hands and the large Punchinella-esque covered feet. The Wyger gets its name from the amalgamation of the tiger and Upper Playground's iconic mascot, the Walrus.


Flores’ blue Wyger stands nearly 10" tall, features two protruding tusks and comes packaged in a double sided window box. The Wyger Up Edition has a limited edition run of only 250 figures and can be purchased directly from Upper Playground here for $85 each.

The Blot is a huge fan of Sam Flores’ art, so I was pretty excited to learn he would be releasing a second all new figure in honor of Upper Playground’s 10th Anniversary, the Wyger (the first figure was Flores’ Dragon Boy). The Wyger gets it's name from an amalgamation of a tiger and Upper Playground's iconic Walrus mascot.


Standing nearly 10” tall, the Wyger features two protruding tusks, elegant gradient blends, descriptive tiger stripes and traditional Sam Flores elements, such as the figure’s over sized clutched hands and large Punchinella-esque covered feet. This OG orange Wyger is sure to be the first of many colorways released by Flores and UP.

The Wyger is limited to just 500 pieces and is currently available for pre-sale directly from Upper Playground here for $78.50. This limited edition designer vinyl figure comes packaged in a double sided window box featuring gold foil on the inside which doubles as a reflective mirror giving multiple views of Flores’ Wyger. Collectors can expect the orange Wyger to ship the 3rd week of January 2010.

Dragon Boy Vinyl Figure by Sam Flores

The Blot’s been a huge admirer of Sam Flores art for a long time now, and his Fatima and Tiger Baby figures are part of the reason I became a collector of designer vinyl in the first place. For a number of different reasons I’ve never gotten any of the many Fatima or Tiger Baby colorways, so I’m more than a little excited at the opportunity to pre-order Flores newest figure, Dragon Boy.


Known for his signature characters based on Asian motifs, Sam Flores has a unique style that translates remarkably well to vinyl. Unlike most vinyl toys, Dragon Boy is made up of three separate pieces giving the illusion of a dragon floating through the clouds. As you can see from the picture above it is truly a stunning piece. What’s really cool about this figure is how detailed it is. The color on the dragon really pops due to its detailed, gradient blends.

The Dragon Boy vinyl figure is 10” tall and has a limited run of 500 units. Sam Flores’ Dragon Boy was created for Upper Playground’s 10th Anniversary and is currently available at the Upper Playground online store for presale (limited to 2 items per customer). Expect Dragon Boy to ship sometime in late-August or early-September.
