Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 2 Cast Photo

The Blot’s a little late on this news, but Marvel has released the official cast photo of ABC’s Agents of SHIELD Season 2, and surprisingly it included some big news! These types of photo releases typically never share insight into the upcoming season, but it does confirm a few choice tidbits. First is the news that B.J. Britt (as Agent Antoine Triplett) has been promoted to a series regular. Britt was fantastic in the second half of Season 1, and The Blot is very excited he’ll play an even more prominent role this season. We also learned that Nick Blood (as Lance Hunter) and Henry Simmons (as Alphonso “Mac” Mackenzie) will be joining the show as series regulars as well. From what I’ve read Hunter is a secret agent from Britian’s equivalent to SHIELD, while Mac is a mechanic who assists the newly reformed SHIELD.

The Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 2 Cast Photo also includes Chloe Bennet as Agent Skye, Iain De Caestecker as Agent Leo Fitz, Ming-Na Wen as Agent Melinda May, Clark Gregg as Director Phil Coulson, Elizabeth Henstridge as Agent Jemma Simmons and Brett Dalton as Grant Ward. While getting off to an incredibly slow start, Agents of SHIELD got really good towards the end of the season. The driving force behind that was when the show intersected with the storyline from Captain America: The Winter Soldier. Here’s hoping they can build upon that momentum in Season 2.

Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD Season 2 premieres on ABC Tuesday, September 23rd, at 9/8c.

Buddhamorph Alien x Buddha Resin Figure by ETC Toys

Our friends at ETC Toys (aka Extra-Truckestrial Custom Toys) have released their newest pop culture inspired bootleg Buddha resin figure, and it’s a beauty! The Buddhamorph is a mash-up of the classic Buddha figure with Alien’s signature xenomorph, the Big Chap. Kitbashed figures like this don’t always work, but ETC Toys knocked it out of the park with this one. It seriously looks almost like a production figure. I don’t know how they got the Big Chap head to be perfectly in-scale with the Buddha body.

For their August 2014 OTMFG (October Toys Mini Figure Guys) release, October Toys is debuting their newest figure, Vincent the beloved Designer Con mascot! This is Vincent’s very first toy, and he looks freaking rad! To be honest, The Blot can’t believe it took this long for the first Vincent figure. Designed by Scott Tolleson and sculpted by George Gaspar, Vincent stands 1.5” tall and is made of PVC plastic. Vincent is available now at the October Toys online store for just $2 in an old school MUSCLE “Flesh” colorway.

DC Comics Announces This December Is Darwyn Cooke Variant Cover Month!

This December 2014, most of DC Comics’ releases will come with a limited edition Darwyn Cooke variant cover! The Blot is a huge fan of Cooke’s unique art style and his simplistic take on super hero comic books. It has that retro, old school vibe that just makes you happy! Even better still, these variant covers will be in a landscape format so you larger view of each cover.  These covers really harken back to the golden age of the DC Universe, a time The Blot can't get enough of.

Are these awesome or what!?! My favorite hands down is the Teen Titans cover featuring the team’s original ‘60s line up. Oh how I miss those simpler times. It’s too bad DC’s New 52 reboot didn’t do a better job reinventing the Titans franchise. I will say, the announcement of a Darwyn Cooke variant cover month just makes me angry that the new Booster Gold series hasn’t started yet. Oh how I’d love to see Darwyn draw a Booster cover!

Batman 75th Anniversary Screen Print Series - “Batman Iron Age” by Arik Roper

Geek Art and French Paper Art Club have teamed up with DC Comics to produce a new officially licensed Batman 75th Anniversary Screen Print Series! For this series’ second print, they’ve commissioned New York based artist Arik Roper to pay tribute to DC’s Dark Knight of Gotham. Arik is an artist with a unique style that mixes old school fantasy and horror, with a psychedelic twist. For this series Arik chose to re-imagine Batman as if he originated in pre-historic times.
