The Blot can’t believe it’s been three years since Hasbro released a new full size Mighty Muggs vinyl figure. Long time readers of TheBlotSays.com probably remember a time when a significant amount of time was devoted to covering Mighty Muggs here. In fact, a number of you probably found out about this blog because of the chunky, awkwardly shaped platform. Lately however, the Mighty Muggs toy line has pretty much died off after a number of unsuccessful SDCC exclusive Marvel Mini Mighty Muggs releases and two terrible Marvel Micro Mighty Muggs blind box series. So it brings me great joy in announcing Hasbro will be releasing a new full sized Mighty Muggs vinyl figure at San Diego Comic-Con 2014!
To celebrate the 35th anniversary of the iconic ROM: The Space Knight toy, Hasbro will be releasing this awesome San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive ROM: The Space Knight Mighty Mugg! Since the release of the original Parker Brothers toy in 1979, ROM: The Space Knight has built a devoted following, and now fans will be able to purchase the first ROM: The Space Knight toy in a very, very long time.
Like most of you, The Blot was first introduced to ROM through the cult classic ‘80s comic book series from Marvel. It’s become somewhat of a legendary series because this officially licensed comic book took place in the proper Marvel Universe. When Marvel lost the license it left the series and all of the Marvel created supporting characters in a state of limbo for years. While Marvel’s Spaceknights have made a comeback in recent years, ROM himself has been missing from the Marvel Universe since the late ‘80s and any comic featuring ROM has never been reprinted.But now with this new ROM: The Space Knight Mighty Mugg you can create your own comic book crossover with your Marvel Mighty Muggs collection.
