Two New Jon Burgerman Releases

After mentioning this week’s release of the new Jon Burgerman 8 inch Dunny Tea Bear on Monday, I thought I’d share two other recent releases from the UK artist. The first one is a new Threadless t-shirt, which went on sale last week. This Threadless Select t-shirt is entitled Beaver Circus Spectacular and is a 10-color screen print design on a custom khaki colored shirt. As Burgerman explains his latest design, “imagine a circus, a wonderous canvas cathedral of delights, with tiny flags flapping about its roof. The sweet smell of stale, bubblegum candy floss floating on a summery breeze with the muffled sounds of clowns honking each others cherry red noses coming from within. Welcome, my friends, to the fuzzy majesty and high quality all pine wood interior of the Beaver Circus Spectacular!” (link)

I think this second item, which came out earlier this month, is even cooler than the Threadless shirt. It’s a limited edition poster entitled Masher of the Universe and is being exclusively sold at UrbanRetro.co.uk. Burgerman explains where he came up with the look for his latest piece of artwork saying, “I revisited a childhood favourite cartoon of mine in my mind. I could see the pictures refracted through the plains of a prism, the lines began to melt and the colours radiated a comforting glow.” Any piece of art that includes a trippy looking He-Man, Skeletor and Battle Cat on it is definitely a masterpiece in my eyes! What can I say, I’m a sucker for all things 80’s pop culture. This poster is a must get for anyone who has ever reenacted Eternia’s battle of good vs. evil with the Masters of the Universe on the floor of their bedroom.
