Marvel’s Agent Carter is back! What did you think of the Season 2 Premiere?

Marvel's Agent Carter Season 2 One Sheet Television Poster

Last night the second season of Marvel’s Agent Carter returned to ABC! This season sees Hayley Atwell’s Agent Carter relocate from New York City to Los Angeles where she’s about to find out that the bright lights of the post-war Hollywood mask a more sinister threat to everyone she is sworn to protect. Joining her in this fight against new atomic age threats in the wake of World War II are Edwin Jarvis (James D'Arcy), Daniel Sousa (Enver Gjokaj) and a number of fresh faces.

So what did you think of the 2 hour season premiere tonight!?! At the time The Blot is writing this I haven’t actually seen the Agent Carter Season 2 premiere, but I can’t wait! I love that Marvel wasn’t afraid to uproot Peggy and move her to a completely new setting. And I think the sun and fun of California will really do this British SSR secret agent some good. I mean Just look at how awesome Hayley Atwell looks in this final one sheet television poster for Agent Carter Season 2.

Agent Carter airs Tuesday nights on ABC at 9/8c.

San Diego Comic-Con 2015 First Look - Marvel’s Agent Carter Season 2 Teaser Television Poster

It makes The Blot’s blogging life so much easier now that almost everyone is announcing and unveiling their big San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive posters the week before the convention. First up is this awesome teaser television poster for Marvel’s Agent Carter Season 2! This awesome illustrated TV poster confirms two big storyline tidbits for S2: 1) that the show and Agent Carter (Hayley Atwell) are moving west to Los Angeles, California, and 2) that James D’Arcy’s Edwin Jarvis will return as a main cast member. EW has also confirmed that Enver Gjokaj (as Daniel Sousa) would also return to the show. What does this mean for Chad Michael Murray’s Jack Thompson? Only time will tell!

Marvel’s Agent Carter Pop! Vinyl Figure by Funko

Marvel’s Agent Carter Pop! Vinyl Figure by Funko

The Blot can’t even tell you how excited I was to learn Funko would be releasing a Pop! vinyl figure of Marvel’s Agent Carter! After ignoring female Marvel characters for so long, Funko’s released a string of four awesome female heroes, Black Widow, Scarlet Witch, Melinda May and now Agent Peggy Carter! First the hit ABC television show has been renewed for a second season and now it gets a Marvel Pop! vinyl figure of its very own. Star Hayley Atwell has never looked so good. And I love that the figure comes with a vile of Captain America’s blood that was hidden from the American government by Howard Stark.

Each Agent Carter Pop! Marvel vinyl figure stands 3.75” tall, features one point of articulation and comes packaged in a full color displayable window box. While this figure isn’t expected to hit store shelves until August 2015, you can pre-order it now from Entertainment Earth for just $9.99 here.

Con Report: Comicpalooza 2015 Takes Things To The Next Level!

Comicpalooza 2015 Convention Report

From the moment The Blot walked into Comicpalooza 2015 I was honesty blown away! I can honestly say Comicpalooza hit the big leagues this year and become one of the best pop culture conventions, not just in Texas, but in the country. With over 40,000 attendees over the four day Memorial Day weekend, this was hands down the best Comicpalooza I’ve attended since I first started going to the show 6 years ago. It is truly amazing how far this comic-con has come in just the past few years.

Comicpalooza Texas' International Comic-Con Logo

Comicpalooza 2015 took over the entire first floor of Houston’s George R. Brown Convention Center, the largest in Houston, and it did so without the Dealer’s Room looking sparse and over expanded. Such growth has clearly been driven by their focus on bringing in some of the biggest celebrity names from all corners of the pop culture landscape, including television, movies, comic books, professional wrestling, rock and roll, cosplay and anime. When you have names at the top of your guest list like Stan Lee, Jeremy Renner, Rosario Dawson, Cobie Smulders, Sting, Rowdy Roddy Piper, Kevin Eastman and the cast of Gotham (just to name a few), you’d be hard pressed not to draw impressive crowds.

Comicpalooza 2015 Convention Report

What’s even more impressive is how Comicpalooza’s organizers have worked diligently to continue to improve the convention. To be honest, I heard (and witnessed) a lot of negative feedback about the organization of last year’s event. It was clear the show had grown significantly without making sure it had the necessary infrastructure in place. While something like this might have killed a smaller show, it was clear Comicpalooza took that criticism to heart and made sure to address those issues in a meaningful way this year. For instance, the celebrity photo-ops and autograph area was much better organized this year, the lines were shorter and all in all there was better communication – which is really the key for any successful con. I for one was very glad to see all of CP’s growing pains disappear!

Comicpalooza 2015 Convention Report

I think the single biggest takeaway I have from Comicpalooza this year is that every single artist and vendor I spoke with told me how happy they were with the convention. Literally everyone told me they were super busy, had sold a ton of art/merchandise, and would definitely be making plans to attend Comicpalooza again next year. That’s really the biggest complement a comic-con like this can get. Not only does it mean they continue to stack the event with top notch guests, but with word of mouth like this even more big name celebrities, artists and vendors will want to come to Houston.

Personally, I had a fantastic time at Comicpalooza 2015! I just wish I could have spent even more time there than I already did. There were so many panels, meet-ups, performances and events throughout the weekend it’s literally impossible to do it all. No matter what corner of the pop culture universe you are a fan of there is definitely something at Comicpalooza for you! So go ahead and start planning your trip to Houston now for next Memorial Day Weekend, because you won’t be sorry!

The Marvel Cinematic Universe Invades Houston’s Comicpalooza 2015!

Comicpalooza Texas' International Comic-Con Logo

For the third straight year The Blot will be heading to Houston’s Comicpalooza to cover the ever-expanding pop culture extravaganza! While Texas’ preeminent comic-con has definitely expanded beyond just comic books, its biggest guests this year are all associated with Marvel Comics in some way. If you live anywhere in or around Texas this is one comic convention you will not want to miss! Comicpalooza 2015 is once again headlined by the patriarch of the Marvel super hero universe, Stan “The Man” Lee, and he’s bringing with him three huge stars from the Marvel Cinematic Universe!

Comicpalooza 2015 Marvel Cinematic Universe Guest List – Stan Lee, Jeremy Renner, Cobie Smulders & Hayley Atwell

The most exciting name on this year’s Comicpalooza guest list is Academy Award nominee Jeremy Renner! I’ve been told this is the very first comic con appearance (outside of SDCC) for the Avengers: Age of Ultron star, so this will be fans’ first opportunity to take pictures with and get autographs from the MCU’s Hawkeye. The Blot’s personal favorite guest this year is Cobie Smulders (How I Met Your Mother!!!) who has appeared in The Avengers, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Avengers: Age of Ultron as SHIELD agent Maria Hill. But that’s not all! Comicpalooza is also bringing in Agent Carter herself, Hayley Atwell!

That’s three huge stars of the Marvel Cinematic Universe at one convention with Stan Lee. How can you miss out on a convention with this kind of guest list!?! Weekend passes, single day tickets and VIP passes to Comicpalooza 2015 are all still available through the Comicpalooza online store. Readers of The Blot Says can use the coupon code “HoustonNerdsUnite2015” during checkout and receive $5 off the purchase of 4 day passes, or $3 off the purchase of a 1 day pass!

Marvel’s Agent Carter Television Posters

Marvel’s Agent Carter Teaser Television Poster

The Blot can’t believe Marvel’s Agent Carter finally premieres tomorrow! I feel like we’ve been talking about this show for years. While I’m excited to watch it, I don’t see it doing very well ratings wise. I mean it’s not like Agents of SHIELD is doing amazing, and Agent Carter is only going to pull in a fraction of SHIELD’s viewers. I just don’t see a period piece starring a character most of America has never heard of (even if they’ve seen Captain America: The First Avenger) and featuring no mainstream super heroes doing well. Plus the marketing for this new show has been terrible! Seriously, who gave the ok for the Agent Carter television poster above that looks like something PBS created for the Where in the World Is Carmen Sandiego? children’s game show? Like with most comic book inspired television shows, The Blot’s taking a “hope for the best, but expect the worst” approach to Agent Carter.

Marvel’s Agent Carter Television Poster

Agent Carter stars Hayley Atwell as Peggy Carter, James D’Arcy as Edwin Jarvis, Chad Michael Murray as Jack Thompson, Enver Gjokaj as Daniel Sousa and Shea Whigham as Roger Dooley. Agent Carter kicks things off with a 2 hour series premiere tomorrow, Tuesday, January 5th, on ABC at 8/7c.

SDCC 14 Exclusive Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. & Agent Carter TV Poster

San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. & Agent Carter Television Poster

Marvel’s been giving away these awesome Agents of SHIELD x Agent Carter television posters at San Diego Comic-Con 2014. It’s hard to believe Marvel will have two live action TV shows set in the MCU, while DC is still claiming they won’t connect their super hero TV shows with their movies (what a terrible decision). The Blot will be interested to see how Agent Carter fleshes out the history of SHIELD in the MCU. I wonder if things that happen in Agent Carter will have an impact on the 2nd half of Agents of SHIELD’s second season. We’ll find out soon!

SDCC 14 Exclusive Agents of SHIELD & Agent Carter T-Shirts

San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Agents of SHIELD “Welcome to Level 7” T-Shirt

While Marvel’s Agents of SHIELD television show started painfully slow, after its storyline merged with the story of Captain America: The Winter Soldier the show got really good! The Blot was actually shocked, but I’m glad I stuck with it. To hype up Agents of SHILED Season 2, Marvel’s bringing with them to San Diego Comic-Con 2014 a new collection of exclusive of t-shirts and accessories! There’s even a t-shirt for Marvel’s newest live action show Agent Carter! While the Lenticular Hydra design is the coolest tee in the collection, my personal favorite is the “Welcome to Level 7” t-shirt. Which one is your favorite!?!
