“Real Live” Solo Art Show by Leecifer

“Real Live” Solo Art Show by Leecifer

Leecifer is heading to Albuquerque this weekend for his new solo show “Real Live” at Stranger Factory! The show includes a killer new line up of sculptures and customized vinyl and resin figures featuring Leecifer’s signature painting style. The Blot’s a huge fan of Lee’s bright color palette mixed with a worn and weathered look he gives to all of his customs and original creations.

Leecifer’s SDCC 12 Exclusive Customs

Leecifer's San Diego Comic-Con 2012 Exclusive Custom Vinyl Figures

If you’ve been wondering where Leecifer has been, the California artist has been slaving away preparing more customs than you can shake a stick at for San Diego Comic-Con 2012. I especially love Lee’s set of DC Comics themed Camille Rose Garcia custom vinyl figures, which includes Catwoman, Harlequin, Batman and Robin, and Poison Ivy.

DCon 2011 Exclusive Custom Vinyl Figures by Nebulon5

Designer Con Exclusive Custom Vinyl Figures by Nebulon5

Nebulon5 has been working overtime preparing for next weekend’s Designer Con! The California artist has really taken his painting skills to the next level by applying his unique style to a huge variety kaiju inspired vinyl figures. The Blot especially loves the Neb5’s color scheme for these custom figures, which includes tons of pinks, reds, purples and greens. There’s definitely a little something for everyone, including a Boss Carrion, Mongolions, Rose Vampires, a Rose Vampire DX, Miltons and so much more!

Be sure to stop by SpankyStokes.com’s DCon booth next weekend to pick one of Nebulon5’s fabulous customs. Any unsold pieces from DCon will go up in Nebulon5’s online store the following Sunday, November 6th, at a random time.

Red Plasma Big Sal & Clear Red Foster Vinyl Figures by Super7

Red Plasma Big Sal Vinyl Figure by Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas & Clear Red Foster Vinyl Figure by Super7

With summer basically over, Super7 decided to kick off the fall season a little early with a couple of clearly radical and redical new figures! First up is the devilish Big Sal by Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas. The Red Plasma Big Sal was last seen in the vicinity of Dragon*Con, wearing a translucent dark red straight jacket with black, pink and yellow accents. Big Sal is considered dangerous and insane, approach with caution! Joining Big Sal is Foster, the ice cream sandwich that just can't keep his hand to or off himself. Each delicious bite brings him closer to his own demise. Foster is cast in translucent red vinyl with light blue spray.

Clear Red Foster will be released Friday, September 2nd, at 12 o’clock noon PDT at the Super7 online store, while Red Plasma Big Sal will be released the following Saturday (September 3rd) at 12 o’clock noon PDT. For those of you lucky enough to attending Dragon*Con this weekend, you pick up the Red Plasma Big Sal a little early direct from Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas!

St. Patrick's Day Big Sal Vinyl Figure by Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivias

Super7 - St. Patrick's Day Translucent Green Big Sal by Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivias

Once again on the loose from the space-asylum, Big Sal is determined to blend into the party while plotting his next move…even if that means having a few green beverages along the way! Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivias’ crazy Monster Family alien is back, this time in translucent green with black, white and green spray.

To coincide with the St. Patrick's Day holiday, the translucent green Big Sal will be released at 12 noon  PDT this Thursday, March 17th, at the Super7 online store for $30 each.

“1-Offs” Custom Vinyl Toys by Leecifer

This Saturday at Super7 is the “1-Offs” custom vinyl toy show curated by Leecifer. Over 30 artists are participating and each one will be premiering all new customs incorporating Super7 and Gargamel Toys. From what I’ve seen this is shaping up to be a truly amazing custom show, with every artist bringing their A game. Not one to be outdone, Leecifer debuted his four customs for the “1-Off” show and all The Blot can say is wow!

“1-Offs” Custom Vinyl Toys by Leecifer - Batman Big Sal, Evel Kenevil Mummy Gator, Skull Rose Vampire, Fire Robo

Leecifer’s Melting Skull Rose Vampire seriously blows my mind, and how do you not love Lee’s Evel Kenevil Mummy Gator? Throw in his latest amazing Batman custom, this time it’s Batman Big Sal to the rescue, and a flaming Fire Robo, and you’ve got a little something for everyone!

1-Offs Custom Vinyl Toy Show at Super7

It’s really too bad the “1-Offs” Show at Super7 is cash and carry, or I’d be all over a ton of the customs heading to this show. For those of you in the San Francisco area, the show takes place this Saturday, January 29th at 6pm. Be sure to get there early!

It’s Super7’s favorite time of year once again! Halloween, the spookiest holiday of them all, brings all of the Monster Family’s creepy creatures out into the night. In honor of this Halloween, Super7 presents a set of glasses to enjoy a tasty beverage while waiting for the monster masses to knock at the door.

Super7 Monster Family Halloween 4 Glass Set featuring Steven the Bat, Garuru, Rose Vampire & Big Sal

The Super7 Monster Family Halloween Glass Set includes four glasses, each featuring a different Monster Family member (Steven the Bat, Garuru, Rose Vampire & Big Sal). The artwork on these glasses is top notch, and the Rose Vampire glass will definitely be joining The Blot’s collection!

Each glass can be purchased individually for $10 or you can purchase all four glasses as a set for $35. While an official release date is currently unknown, you can expect these spooky glasses to go on sale at Super7Store.com sometime soon.

SDCC 2010 Exclusive Customs by DrilOne

San Franscico artist DrilOne has put together some killer customs for San Diego Comic-Con 2010 and The Blot is a little disappointed I won’t be there to see them in person (especially those Rose Vampires).

What’s great about Dril’s trademark rusty military style is that it looks great on almost any designer vinyl figure, which can be seen in the huge diversity of figures Dril customized for SDCC 2010. Things you never imagined would look good as a military weapon of mass destruction, like an Ugly Doll, Frank Kozik’s Usagi-Gon or a Big Sal, come out looking incredibly authentic as rusty old war relics.

DrilOne’s San Diego Comic-Con 2010 exclusive custom figures will be available for sale at the Dragatomi SDCC booth #3848. Stop by booth #3848 to meet DrilOne and pick up one of these great customs.

Super7 - Clear Smoke Glitter Big Sal by Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peter

Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters's Big Sal vinyl figure is back! The spaced out tentacled asylum escapee is fading into the dark of night, cast in clear smoke glitter vinyl. Big Sal is clearly one of Super7’s more popular Monster Family figures, and The Blot knows fans across the globe are anxiously awaiting the release of this clear grey with glitter colorway.

Super7 - Clear Smoke Gray with Glitter Big Sal by Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peter
This will also mark the first Big Sal ever purchased by The Blot. As you all know, I’m a sucker for clear vinyl, especially clear vinyl with glitter, so how could I resist? Plus, he’d look killer next to my unpainted and painted clear smoke with glitter Mummy Boys (seen below).

Super7 - Unpainted and Painted Clear Smoke Grey with Glitter Mummy Boys
The Clear Smoke with Glitter Big Sal will go on sale Saturday, June 19th, at the Super7 online store and will retail for $30 each.

Super7 - Clear Pearl Big Sal by Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters

The photo below is of the Monster Family Clear Pearl Big Sal vinyl figure by Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters. The Blot knows nothing about this upcoming release from Super7 other than what you can see in the picture, but doesn’t the next 4” Big Sal colorway look awesome!?!

Super7’s been on a Monster Family clear vinyl tear lately, and The Blot can only hope this trend continues with its next Rose Vampire release.

Super7’s SDCC 09 Exclusive Vinyl Figures

Super7 San Diego Comic Con 2009 LogoThe Blot was shocked when I realized yesterday that I had never blogged about one of my favorite designer toy companies, Super7. Now as readers of The Blot Says… you could probably figure out that I’m not that into kaiju vinyl and its U.S. equivalent, but I’ve always liked many of Super7’s soft vinyl creations (especially its Hooded Zombie figure). With that being said, I was still a little surprised to realize just how much of this year’s Super7 San Diego Comic Con exclusives I wanted to add to my collection. There are too many exclusives to mention here, but if you want to see them all head over to Super7’s website dedicated solely to its San Diego Comic Con 2009 exclusives.

Super7 San Diego Comic Con 2009 Exclusive Big Sal by Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters
The one exclusive everyone seems to be talking about is Big Sal by Kathie Olivas and Brandt Peters. My favorite part about Big Sal is the fact that he is cast in clear blue vinyl, but the $25 price tag is pretty nice too. This little guy is destined to sell out fast due to Olivas and Peters’ huge fan base, so be sure to show up to their signing scheduled for Thursday at 3pm at the Super7 SDCC booth #4729 very early.

Super7 San Diego Comic Con 2009 Exclusive Monster Family Blank 3 Pack - Steven the Bat by Bwana Spoons, Holis by Le Merde & Rose Vampire by Josh Herbolsheimer
The Super7 SDCC09 exclusive I’m looking forward to the most is the Monster Family 3-pack, which includes unpainted, white figures of Steven the Bat, Holis and Rose Vampire. What’s really great about this exclusive 3-pack is that it is only being released on Saturday when each of the figures’ creators (Bwana Spoons, Le Merde and Josh Herbolsheimer respectively) will be on hand to sign and doodle away on these blank canvases. The Rose Vampire figure looks killer and I really like the new Steven the Bat mold. These three blank figures will only be sold as set for the ridiculously low price of $50 during the Monster Family signing at noon on Saturday, July 25th at the Super7 booth.

Super7 San Diego Comic Con 2009 Exclusive Jade Mongolion by L'amour Supreme
There are a slew of other really cool figures, like L’amour Supreme’s Jade Mongolion (available all four days for $65 each) and Itokin Park’s Red Devil Lucha Bear (available Friday at noon for $65 each), so head over to the Super7 San Diego Comic Con 2009 website now to check them out.

Super7 San Diego Comic Con 2009 Exclusive Red Devil Lucha Bear by Itokin Park
Also note that Super7 has scheduled most of their artists for signings at their SDCC 09 booth #4729, so collectors will definitely want to make a point of stopping by the Super7 booth at least once a day.
