MondoCon 2014 Screen Print feat Big Guy & Rusty the Boy Robot by Mike Saputo & Phantom City Creative

This past weekend was the first ever MondoCon in Austin, Texas! MondoCon was a culmination of everything Mondo has always wanted to see in a convention, and from everything I’ve seen and read it was a huge success! Later today they’ll be releasing a few posters that were originally available for purchase at their Mondo booth, including the convention’s exclusive poster by Mike Saputo and Phantom City Creative. What makes this print super bad ass is that it features Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot in honor of co-creator Geof Darrow’s attendance at the show. Darrow is a comic genius and The Blot’s always loved Big Guy and Rusty. What a killer idea!

The Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot by Mike Saputo and Phantom City Creative is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. Limited to just 235 pieces, this print goes on sale at a random time today, Friday, September 26th, at the Mondo online store for $45.

Rio Grande Edition Shaolin Cowboy Vinyl Figure by Geof Darrow & Wednesday’s Finest

I don’t know how The Blot missed this, but Wednesday’s Finest has released the second colorway of Geof Darrow’s Shaolin Cowboy vinyl figure! Limited to just 100 pieces, the Rio Grande Edition Shaolin Cowboy features one of Darrow’s most popular comic book characters in a striking blue shirt. The Blot loves this figure, but I’m not sure the change in shirt color justifies a price increase of 100%. Yes, the original Shaolin Cowboy figure had a run size of 300 pieces, but that still seems like a pretty big price increase. Regardless, if you’re a diehard Darrow fan you won’t want to miss this release.

Geof Darrow Signature Series T-Shirts by Epic Proportions

As you all know The Blot’s a huge fan of Geof Darrow’s art. So I was really excited to find out the comic book legend had designed two t-shirts exclusively for Epic Proportions Art & Design’s t-shirt signature series, a clothing line that highlights elite artists in a variety of different industries. Darrow even designed these two pieces specifically for the Epic Proportions t-shirt brand! The yellow t-shirt features Geof Darrow’s legendary creation the Shaolin Cowboy, while the blue t-shirt features a Robo Bug that really shows off Darrow’s amazing line work.

Both Geoff Darrow Signature Series t-shirts are currently available for $30 each in sizes S-XXL exclusively through Epic Proportions online store.

Every once in a while The Blot is totally blown away by the announcement of an upcoming release. A perfect example of this is when news spread around the internet that Geof Darrow, one of The Blot’s all time favorite comic book artists, had teamed up with Wednesday’s Finest and Monster 5 to create a new vinyl figure based on his popular Shaolin Cowboy comic book character! Shaolin Cowboy is one of those legendary ongoing comic book series that never comes out (i.e. it goes on hiatus for years between issues), but fans still go crazy for any time it’s mentioned. That’s a true testament for the amazing work Geof Darrow produces!

For now two colorways of this figure have been planned, the Regular Comic Book Edition with a run size of only 300 pieces, and an as of yet unannounced colorway of Geof’s choosing. The Blot can’t wait to get my hands on one of these!!! Just think how awesome it’d look next to Super7’s Tao King vinyl figure (also based on the artwork of Darrow).

This exciting release is not scheduled to ship until February of 2013, but you can pre-order through The Black Lodge Holding Co’s online store for $110.

NYCC 12 Exclusive Meltdown Taoking

For New York Comic-Con 2012, Super7 is bringing back Geof Darrow and Frank Miller’s giant monster Taoking to the convention in an all new colorway! The Blot still hasn’t seen one of these bad boys in person, but they look awesome. Taoking, the signature monster from Darrow and Miller's Big Guy and Rusty the Boy Robot comic book, has been re-imagined in the style of classic Japanese kaiju toys.

Standing approximately 9" tall and sculpted by Cosmo Liquid, Taoking melts down with terrible rage! Cast in meltdown maroon vinyl with red, yellow, orange and silver sprays, Meltdown Taoking can be purchased exclusively at Super7’s NYCC book for $95 each.
