Batman: Year One Screen Print by Raid71 x Bottleneck Gallery

Later today, Bottleneck Gallery will be releasing this epic DC Comics screen print “Year One” by Raid71 (Chris Thornley). What a beautiful tribute to the seminal Frank Miller and David Mazzucchelli comic book storyline, Batman: Year One, which formed the modern foundation of the Batman mythos we know today. This strikingly grounded take on Batman and James Gordon’s first year fighting crime in Gotham still holds up as a classic comic book story.

As BNG explained, “Raid utilizes some of the coloring and lighting from the original comic books, and does a great job of evoking the feel of Miller/Mazzucchelli’s story. We’re thrilled with how well Raid executed this print idea.” Batman: Year One by Raid71 is an 18”x24” hand numbered DC Comics screen print. Marvel’s Daredevil First Look: Charlie Cox as Daredevil

In The Blot’s opinion, the big reveal at New York Comic Con 2014 was Marvel’s release of two still photos from its upcoming Netflix live action television series, Daredevil. The Blot’s all kinds of excited for Marvel’s new straight to Netflix television shows, and these photos have set the internet ablaze! Daredevil stars Boardwalk Empire’s Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock, aka Daredevil, the Man Without Fear.

As Marvel.com explains, “along with the first image of Cox as Murdock, you can also check out a photo featuring Matt in his first costume, inspired by Frank Miller and John Romita, Jr.'s seminal Daredevil: Man Without Fear series, widely considered to be one of the most important and influential Daredevil stories of all time.”

Series Synopsis: Marvel's Daredevil follows the journey of Matt Murdock, who was blinded as a young boy but imbued with extraordinary senses, now fighting against injustice by day as a lawyer, and by night as the super hero Daredevil in modern day Hell's Kitchen, New York City.

Frank Miller's Sin City “Marv” Vinyl Figure by Eric So

How in the world has it been 10 years since Dark Horse Comics first teamed up with artist Eric So release the “Hong Kong” Hellboy vinyl figure!?! And why has it taken so long for Dark Horse and Eric to team up again to release a new comic book inspired figure? Eric So’s Hellboy is a art toy classic, and incredibly hard to find. So collectors better not sleep on his newest collaboration with Dark Horse, Marv from Frank Miller’s Sin City!

This limited edition oversized vinyl figure of Marv is more of a re-invention than a reproduction. While it is clear that Miller's graphics inform the piece, it is more of a signpost along the way than the end of the journey. The Eric So touches abound from the detailing of the trench coat to the sharp angles and odd proportions of the character's features. As we all know, Marv knows how to take a punch, and has the bandages to prove it. Dark Horse is providing a pack of band-aid style stickers with each figure, and the collector can affix them to Marv as they like. What a cool accessory!

Batman’s 75th Anniversary is almost here, and DC Collectibles has announced a new line of action figures to celebrate this huge milestone for DC Comics’ Dark Knight! The Batman 75th Anniversary Action Figure 4 Pack Set 2 includes four different interpretations of Batman by three iconic artists and one legendary animated series: “The Dark Knight Returns” Batman by Frank Miller, “New 52” Batman by Greg Capullo, “Justice” Batman by Alex Ross and animated Batman from the hit ‘70s and ‘80s cartoon Super Friends. Each figure features a unique paint deco only available in this 75th Anniversary box set. I for one have never seen a Super Friends Batman with a black and grey outfit. Pretty cool!

Batman vs. Superman First Look: Ben Affleck as Batman

Yesterday, Zack Snyder released a bombshell on Twitter! He gave the world its first look at Ben Affleck as Batman and the Batmobile from his upcoming DC Comics film Batman vs. Superman! Never in The Blot’s wildest dreams did I believe Zack Snyder would go in this direction for Batfleck. I know he’s said Affleck’s Bruce Wayne will be an older, chiseled and hardened version of the character, but no way did I think he’d go full on The Dark Knight Returns (and is that a clown face in the background???).

I know it’s hard to make out the details of Affleck’s Batman costume in this very dark picture, but take my word for it. This is almost an identical replica of Frank Miller’s iconic look for Batman in DKR. My only question is how does Ben Affleck fill out this suit? He’s nowhere near this big or ripped. It almost looks like a suit of armor really. I have no idea where this film is going, but I really hope Affleck doesn’t look comical in such a huge, bulging costume.
