Green Lantern Movie Masters Action Figures by Mattel

Green Lantern Movie Masters - Hal Jordan, Sinestro, Tomar-Re & Ismot Kol Action Figures

DC ComicsGreen Lantern movie debuts in theaters today and The Blot has absolutely nothing to say about it. Why? I’m more than a little bummed by all the negative reviews. I’ve expected the worst for a while now, but was secretly hoping the film would surpass my expectations. That probably won’t happen, but maybe you can create your own Green Lantern movie (and make a more exciting version to boot) with these Green Lantern Movie Masters action figures by Mattel.

Green Lantern Movie Masters - G'Hu, Abin Sur, Rot Lop Fan, Naut Ke Loi, Kilowog & Green Man Action Figures

Mattel is flooding the market with Green Lantern toys, but the best ones by far are these 6” Movie Masters action figures (basically a spin-off of Mattel’s DC Universe Classics toy line). Green Lantern Movie Masters Wave 1 includes Green Lanterns Hal Jordan, Tomar-Re, Isamot Kol, Naut Ke Loi. Green Lantern Movie Masters Wave 2 includes Sinestro, Rot Lop Fan, a maskless Hal Jordan and Guardian Krona. There’s also the Green Lantern Classics G’Hu, MattyCollector.com Exclusive Green Man, a Toys R Us Exclusive 2-Pack featuring Hal Jordan and Abin Sur, and San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Kilowog.

The Green Lantern Movie Masters action figures and the G’Hu Green Lantern Classics action figure can be purchased for $16.99, while the oversized MattyCollector.com Exclusive Green Man and the SDCC 2011 Exclusive Kilowog can be purchased for $25 each. Get one now to celebrate the premiere of Warner Bros' Green Lantern, or wait a few weeks when all of these figures (except the 2 exclusives) will be on sale for deep, deep discounts.

SDCC 2011 Exclusive Green Lantern Movie Light-Up Lantern 100% Be@rbrick

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Green Lantern Movie Light-Up Lantern 100% Be@rbrick in Packaging by Medicom & Diamond Comics

Every year there is that one San Diego Comic-Con exclusive that the minute I see it The Blot knows I have to have it. This year, that exclusive is the Diamond Comics x Medicom Green Lantern Movie 100% Light-Up Lantern Be@rbrick. While the idea of a Green Lantern “Lantern” Be@rbick that actually lights up is cool, what makes this a must buy for The Blot is its packaging! If you don’t recognize this 100% Be@rbrick’s blister card packaging, it is modeled after Kenner’s 1980s Super Powers Collection toy line.

San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Green Lantern Movie Light-Up Lantern 100% Be@rbrick by Medicom & Diamond Comics

The Super Powers Collection was one of my favorite toy lines as a little kid, but sadly it only lasted three waves (34 figures in all). While DC Comics’ Super Powers action figures don’t hold up well compared to toys of today, nothing beats its iconic packaging. Something about those colors and stars just screams DC Comics to me.

The San Diego Comic-Con 2011 Exclusive Green Lantern Light-Up Lantern 100% Be@rbrick has a limited edition run size of 1,500 figures and will retail for $16.99. Drop by PREVIEWS/Diamond’s SDCC booth #2401 to receive a listing of Diamond retailers that will be selling this awesome figure at Comic-Con.

Green Lantern 100% Be@rbrick

Be@rbrick Series 22 - Green Lantner 100% Be@rbrick Vinyl Figure

Medicom is set to release their latest Be@rbrick blind box series next month and Series 22 will include some big time summer movie tie-ins, like Cars 2, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides and the figure The Blot’s most looking forward to, Green Lantern! This is the third DC Comics Be@rbrick in the past two 100% Be@rbrick Series (Batman, Superman and Green Lantern), and I have to say the Hal Jordan Be@rbrick may be the best of the three. I think the lack of capes made the Batman and Superman Be@rbricks look incomplete, while Green Lantern’s uniform (especially his mask) looks great in Be@rbrick form. Any guess as to what the Green Lantern mystery chase figure will be? Can anyone say Green Lantern Sinestro maybe???

Be@rbrick Series 22, including the Green Lantern 100% Be@rbrick seen here, is scheduled to go on sale in June 2011 for around $10 each.

Green Lantern Character Movie Posters

Green Lantern Character Movie Poster Set - Mark Strong as Sinestro

Green Lantern Corps fans are really going to love this new set of Green Lantern character movie posters. Everyone’s represented in this set, Sinestro, Kilowog, Abin Sur and Tomar-Re…heck even Hector Hammond got a poster! What’s funny is that the Hammond poster is the first one sheet to feature a character who doesn’t wear a Green Lantern ring.

Green Lantern Character Movie Poster Set - Kilowog

A year ago The Blot would have bet any amount of money that distinction would go to Blake Lively’s Carol Ferris, but she has all but disappeared from the movie’s advertising. Doesn’t speak well for Lively’s drawing power does it? It also makes me question Carol’s staying power. Does this make it less likely that we’ll see the Star Sapphire appear in a Green Lantern sequel? Heck, even Gwenyth Paltrow’s Pepper Potts got prominent placement in both Iron Man’s movie posters and trailers. Oh well, I’d definitely rather see more Kilowog and Sinestro than Carol Ferris and Thomas Kalmaku any day.

Green Lantern Corps Movie Posters

Green Lantern - Green Lantern Corps Theatrical Banner

After months of wondering when Green Lantern’s marketing campaign would really heat up, the film has finally kicked it into overdrive with only 6 weeks left before its world premiere. The Blot’s even finally starting to get a good feeling about Green Lantern. After lackluster trailers and lame posters, everything started to change once the film began to feature the Green Lantern Corps and Oa more prominently in its marketing.

Green Lantern - Green Lantern Corps Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster

I don’t know why, but watching Hal Jordan (Ryan Reynolds) on Earth seemed cheesy, while his indoctrination into the GL Corps with all of its different alien members made the film look interesting to say the least. Have you noticed how little the scenes on Earth are even featured in the trailers anymore and is Blake Lively (as Carol Ferris) still a main character? The Green Lantern Corp has definitely taken over as the primary focus of Green Lantern's banners, posters and trailers.

Green Lantern - Green Lantern Corps Theatrical One Sheet Movie Poster

I’d like to add that the more I see of DC Comics' Tomar-Re, Kilowog, Sinestro and Abin Sur, the more I like the film’s live action version of these characters. It’s also exciting to know (from the one sheet movie posters and tie-in toy lines) that other popular Green Lantern Corps members will be appearing in the film, especially Stel, Green Man and Boodikka. Here’s hoping we get a Ch’p or Mogo sighting as well!

Green Lantern is scheduled to fly into theaters on Friday, June 17th.

Official Green Lantern Still Photos: Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan

Official Green Lantern Still Photos - Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern Hal Jordan

Ok, so Warner Bros. finally released some official still photos of Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern Hal Jordan and all anyone can talk about is his feet!!! I am pretty sure this was the complete opposite reaction DC Comics was hoping for. After all the money they spent on the computer graphics for this Green Lantern film you’d think they would have ended up with a better result. I don’t hate it as much as I did at first glance, but these photos are not getting me excited to see this film.

Official Green Lantern Still Photos - Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern Hal Jordan

I know they’ve been tweaking Green Lantern’s look for months, but couldn’t they have spent a little extra time design him some boots? If we’ve learned anything over these past few weeks between the Wonder Woman costume and now this, it’s that the boots really do matter! Let’s be honest, if I had a power ring that would allow me to design any costume I could imagine there isn’t a single design that doesn’t include shoes. That’s it, end of story…so get Hal out of those wanna be Vibram FiveFingers “shoes” and put some cool boots on him!

Official Green Lantern Still Photos - Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern Hal Jordan

And don’t even get me started on the fact that the movie is just now hiring someone (Michael Clarke Duncan) to voice Kilowog…the film comes out in 9 freaking weeks! How in the world are things this far behind?

Green Lantern is scheduled to limp into theaters on June 17, 2011.

New Green Lantern One Sheet Movie Poster

Green Lantern One Sheet Movie Poster - Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan
click on the image above for a more detailed look
Wow, just 2 days after The Blot complained on Twitter about Warner Bros’ lack of Green Lantern promotion, everything changed for the better! Ok, I know it had nothing to do with my bitching, but after WonderCon 2011 I think it’s safe to say the Green Lantern media onslaught is in full effect. Not only did WB release this beautiful new one sheet movie poster, they also showed 9 full minutes of footage from the film. 4 minutes of that footage is available here, which I watched last night.

The footage is actually pretty good, but it's not as amazing as I had hoped. I think they’re trying to do too much too soon. Maybe they should have left the GL Corps and Oa for the all but guaranteed sequel, and focused primarily on Hal learning to use the ring on Earth. Sometimes less really is more, and once Hal leaves Earth the film starts looking like a cartoon with way too many aliens. But I have to give them credit for trying to tackle the mythology of the Green Lantern Corps and not just Hal Jordan becoming a Green Lantern.  We’ll have to just wait and see how the film plays to audiences starting on June 17th!

Green Lantern Movie Pop! DC Universe Vinyl Figures by Funko

Green Lantern Movie Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figures - Green Lantern Hal Jordan & Sinestro

The onslaught of Green Lantern movie memorabilia is about to begin, so I hope everyone’s ready for it! Not to be left out of the GL movie madness comes this two figure set of Green Lantern Movie Pop! Heroes vinyl figures by Funko, featuring movie versions of Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Sinestro. What’s interesting is Funko’s DC toy line is now called “Pop! Heroes” instead of its original name of “Pop! DC Universe.” While I would normally think nothing of it, Funko’s Marvel line is still called “Pop! Marvel,” which makes me wonder why the change for one but not both? Is the Marvel brand really more marketable now than DC’s?

The Green Lantern Movie Pop! Heroes Vinyl Figures will retail for around $10 and will hit stores sometime in June 2011. Here’s hoping the Sinestro chase variant vinyl figure comes dressed in yellow!

Green Lantern G'Hu Movie Action Figure

Green Lantern Classics Wave 2 - G'Hu Green Lantern Movie Action Figure

After months of speculation, Mattel has finally unveiled who the mystery action figure is in its upcoming Green Lantern Classics Wave 2. This Green Lantern movie specific action figure is none other than Green Lantern G’Hu of Space Sector 2937. Why Warner Bros and DC Comics decided to include this relatively new and unknown character in the live action GL movie is beyond me (although he does look pretty cool), but what is really surprising is Mattel thought this is the movie specific action figure they should release in GLC Wave 2.

To me this is just another example of why Marvel does movies and toys better. There are a million members of the Green Lantern Corps, and G’Hu is the first movie related action figure Mattel wants to release? It just makes no sense! I could list a ton of awesome alien Green Lanterns I’d love to see in the movie and released as an action figure…and yet we get G’Hu who’s not even in my top 50.

Green Lantern Classics Wave 2 action figures are scheduled to arrive in stores in April 2011, but you can preorder the Green Lantern G’Hu action figure now from Entertainment Earth for $16.99 here.

Green Lantern Official Trailer and Pictures

The official first trailer for the Green Lantern feature film debuted yesterday and it’s interesting to say the least. I was pleasantly surprised to learn the Green Lantern Corps would play such a major role in the film, and it looks like we’ll be seeing more Green Lanterns than I originally thought. But I was hoping to have stronger positive feelings for this film after seeing some footage and yet I still feel pretty lukewarm to the whole project.

Green Lantern First Look - A Green Lantern Ring

This is the first major comic book movie from DC Comics and Warner Bros. not staring Batman or Superman, and I really hope they don’t screw it up! What do you think? Does the trailer above have you excited for this summer’s Green Lantern?

Thanks to Comic Book Resources for the trailer above (sorry about the commercial but it's the best copy I could find) and the pictures of the Green Lantern Corps!

First Ever Green Lantern Movie Video Clip

So the video clip above features the first ever video of the upcoming live action Green Lantern movie. The catch is it’s just a preview of the preview set to air on Entertainment Tonight tomorrow, Tuesday, November 16th. Talk about a tease, right? But how awesome does it look!?!? Ryan Reynolds even looks believable as Hal Jordan (and yes, that is freaking GL Kilowag at the end of the clip). Be sure to tune in on Tuesday to see even more of this sure to be DC Comics summer blockbuster!

Green Lantern Classics Wave 2 Action Figures

Over the weekend, MattyCollector.com released the official first look at Green Lantern Classics Wave 2, the dedicated toy line to Green Lantern comic style action figures. The Blot has to say, the makeup of this wave is very surprising. Along Star Sapphire and Ion (Sodam Yat), Wave 2 also includes two different figures with interchangeable heads and hand.

Green Lantern Classics Wave 2 Action Figures - Ion, Medphyll & Nautkeiloi

There is a Green Lantern body with head and hands for Green Lanterns Nautkeiloi and Medphyll, as well as a Red Lantern body with heads and hands for Red Lanterns Skallox and Night Lik. Night Lik is an all new character created by the Four Horsemen and named by Geoff Johns. He will appear in an upcoming issue of Green Lantern, but appears first as a Mattel toy in the Green Lantern Classics line!

This wave also includes a 3 pack of mini-characters: Green Lantern B'dg, Dex-Starr the Red Lantern and Sinestro Corps member Despotellis. The sixth and final figure is a Green Lantern movie preview figure, which is in Mattel's movie style and will be revealed at a later date. And as all Classics Waves, there is a collect and connect figure! Green Lantern Classics Wave 2’s C&C figure is Green Lantern Stel, and he’s definitely one of my favorite C&C figures produced to date!

Each figure will retail for $16.99 each, or you can order a case of Green Lantern Classics Wave 2 at EntertainmentEarth.com for $199.99 here. Each case contains 8 figures and will be released in April 2011.

Green Lantern Teaser Character Movie Posters

San Diego Comic-Con 2010 is over, but that doesn’t mean Comic-Con related news will stop. This past weekend DC Comics and Warner Bros. debuted the first set of teaser one sheet character movie posters for their upcoming live action Green Lantern film. In The Blot’s honest opinion...these posters rock!

Green Lantern Teaser Character Movie Poster Set - Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern
Green Lantern Teaser Character Movie Poster Set - Blake Lively as Carol Ferris
I love how these theatrical one sheets fit together to form the outline of the Green Lantern logo and each poster includes a different stanza of the Green Lantern Corps’ oath: “In brightest day, in blackest night, no evil shall escape my sight, let those who worship evil's might, beware my power... Green Lantern's light!” They also do a bit of foreshadowing with the Hector Hammond theatrical one sheet featuring a slightly yellow outline.

Green Lantern Teaser Character Movie Poster Set - Mark Strong as Sinestro
Green Lantern Teaser Character Movie Poster Set - Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond
Green Lantern is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 17th, 2011 and stars Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, Blake Lively as Carol Ferris, Mark Strong as Sinestro, Peter Sarsgaard as Hector Hammond, Temuera Morrison as Abin Sur, Tim Robbins as Senator Hammond and Angela Bassett as Dr. Amanda Waller.

Green Lantern Motion Picture First Look - Ryan Reynolds as Green Lantern Hi-Res Photo

San Diego Comic-Con 2010 is almost upon us, and fans lucky enough to sit in the Green Lantern live action movie panel are in form some killer surprises I’m sure. For the rest of us there’s the cover to this week’s Entertainment Weekly Special Comic-Con Preview, which features the first ever photo of Ryan Reynolds as the Green Lantern! Click on the high resolution photo below for an incredibly detailed look at the Emerald Warrior:

While I don’t hate the character’s all CG look, I’m not really a fan of it either. And I really hate all the unnecessary texture and ribbing the films’ special effects team added to GL’s classic look. I don’t know about you, but The Blot kinda likes my superheroes in spandex.

Warner Bros.’ live action adaptation of the DC Comics' comic book Green Lantern is scheduled to premiere in theaters on June 17, 2011.
