Fire Guardian MAD*L Custom Vinyl Figures by MAD

MAD’s beloved Guardian MAD*L is back! The Guardian MAD*L is one of MAD’s most popular characters and shockingly this awesome design has never been released as a production figure. That just makes these super rare custom figures hand crafted by MAD even more of a “must get” by collectors. For his newest micro run, MAD has created the Fire Guardian MAD*L vinyl figure, which feature a striking red, yellow, black and white color scheme. Limited to just 3 pieces, these fantastic Fire Guardian MAD*Ls are currently available at the MAD Toy Store for $200 each.

As MAD explained, “The Guardians are modern renditions of guardian angels in today’s world. Angels have been depicted in various forms by artists for centuries, and this is my spin on them. The Guardians is a concept I've been developing for over 12 years, and have used the characters for many different projects. One of my favorite variations is doing them on the MAD*L platform. I've been creating these Guardian MAD*Ls in different color styles and sizes for a while, and this latest version is the Fire colorway.”

Handstyle White 5 Inch Custom Mad’ls by MAD

Early (and I mean EARLY) this morning MAD released his third set of custom, one of a kind Handstyle 5” Mad’ls! Ten customs were created in all, with each blank 5” white Mad’l featuring a different hand drawn doodle in black Sharpie. This is definitely the best Handstyle series yet. Not only does it include a pretty cool Skeleton design but there’s a freaking Guardian Mad’l in this mix, wings and everything!

As I’ve said before, blank 5” Mad’ls are rarely, if ever, sold to the general public, so to be able to buy one with a custom doodle on it by MAD is an opportunity not to be missed. Random Nature x MAD Pins

As you all know, The Blot’s a huge fan of MAD’s work. So, I was pretty stoked to learn last night that the Kansas City artist was reteaming with Random Nature on a brand new project. It’s a line of 1 inch MAD pins and from the picture below, they look pretty cool.


MAD posted this sneak peek of his upcoming line of MAD pins by Random Nature on his flickr account. The Random Nature x MAD Pins are made of brass and a powder coat of color. Each MAD pin measures just over 1" tall, comes in 3 styles and a bunch of colors. More details to come as they are announced!

Custom Guardian 10 Inch Mad’l Set by MAD

MAD has set the internet a buzz with the release of these hand painted custom 10” Guardian Mad’ls. I think it’s safe to say MAD’s Guardian character is one of his most popular, and since there’s never been a production Guardian made fans are salivating over this set of 15 custom Guardian Mad’ls. There’s fifteen different colorways in the set, and they all look amazing. The Blot can’t even begin to pick my favorite.


These 10 inch custom Guardian Mad’ls are made from vinyl, PVC, spray paint and marker. According to reports, these custom Guardian Mad’ls are already earmarked for MAD’s ’07 subbers, but a few extra were made for sale on MAD’s online store. The Blot’s not sure how many will go on sale, but it’s more than 2 and the price will be under $700.

Custom 5 Inch Stealth Guardian Mad'l by MAD

The Blot would have to say my favorite MAD creation is his Guardian character. Everything about MAD’s Guardian figures are just plain awesome, from its crazy details to its multi-dimensional wings. While a production piece has never been made, much to The Blot’s chagrin, 5 handmade limited edition Stealth Guardian Mad’ls were recently produced by the Kansans City artist. I could go on and on about my love of MAD’s Guaridan figures, but take a look at them for yourself. These figures are sick!



Each one of a kind, hand panted 5” Stealth Guardian Mad’l includes removable plastic wings that fit into the back of the figure, and comes signed and numbered by the artist. 3 Stealth Guardian Mad’ls still remain, and you can purchase one directly from MAD at his official eBay store for $400 each.

MAD’s 09 Kidrobot Dunny Concept Designs

Last week MAD posted on his Flickr account a slew of new Dunny concept designs he has recently submitted to Kidrobot. While there has been no word yet if Kidrobot will be putting any of these killer designs into production, they were just too great not to share here on The Blot Says… As many of you know MAD is one of The Blot’s favorite artists, and after seeing the designs below is there any question he should be getting his own Dunny series sometime very soon?



I really love the Ape and Dinero Dunny set with its Donkey Kong and Mario influence, but I swear if I don’t get a Guardian Dunny or Mad*l production figure sometime soon I’m going to be royally ticked off. MAD’s Guardian figures are some of the best custom designer figures I’ve ever seen, and I can’t wait to see the long rumored custom Guardian Mad*ls MAD is currently working on. I’m also a big fan of MAD’s Sham Da Clown vinyl figure, so it’s cool to see him reproduced here in Dunny form.
