Last night Johnny Cupcakes’ Suitcase Tour rolled in to San Francisco and set up shop at Super7! To celebrate the event, Super7 released this collaborative print with Johnny Cupcakes featuring the two companies’ mascots Mummy Boy and Big Kid. This limited edition screen print designed by S7's Brian Flynn features the two spooky signature icons enjoying a Halloween adventure together. The Blot loves this print so much because it combines two of my favorite things, S7's Mummy Boy and Johnny Cupcakes t-shirts! You really can't beat that kind of collaboration.
Each Johnny Cupcakes x Super7 San Francisco Coffin Tour Stop screen print by Brian Flynn comes hand signed and number by the artist, and printed in black and glow-in-the-dark ink on orange paper. Available exclusively at last night’s event, each print retailed for $40. The Blot’s really holding out hope a few of these prints are left and end up for sale later this week at the Super7 online store!
On Friday, September 28th, Johnny Cupcakes embarks on his 2012 Coffin Tour “Cupcakes From The Crypt”. Johnny Cupcakes and his team will be traveling around the US in a van meeting fans and selling exclusive Halloween themed t-shirts, hoodies, hats, posters, stickers and pins. Throughout the week Johnny has been unveiling some of his 2012 Suitcase Tour Exclusives and they look pretty awesome! I like how they’ve stuck with so many trademark JC designs but given them a Halloween twist. It’s basically combination of JC’s 2010 “Back to the Basics” tour combined with his “Something in the Cupcake Mix” series.
So far, Johnny Cupcakes has unveiled the following designs: Vampire Big Kid, a Frankenstein Crossbones, Skeleton Peace Hand, Masks, Headless Horseman, Wolfman Biker and a glow in the dark Web Crossbones Hoodie. All five designs are great, and I especially love the Dracula Big Kid. My second favorite design is probably “Masks”, which includes Zombie Johnny Cupcakes, Cupcake and Crossbones, and Big Kid masks along classic Halloween monsters like a mummy, wolfman and a skeleton.
The “Cupcakes From The Crypt” 2012 Suitcase Tour kicks off in New York City on Friday, September 28th, and ends back in Boston on Tuesday, October 30th. If Johnny Cupcakes is scheduled to visit your town this fall, The Blot highly recommends checking out their pretty fun pop-up shops!

It’s hard to believe it’s been two years since Johnny Cupcakes’ last cross-country Suitcase Tour! Well, Johnny’s tuning up the van and getting the crew back together again as he strikes off across the country bringing t-shirts and high fives to fans everywhere. “Cupcakes from the Crypt,” the Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour of 2012, will be Halloween themed borrowing elements from “Something in the Cupcake Mix” and the “Back to the Basics” tour to create one shocking, outlandish event taking place from New York to Los Angeles, Miami to Vegas.
In each of the 21 cities on the 2012 Johnny Cupcakes “Cupcakes from the Crypt” Tour Johnny will be presenting a one-night only pop-up shop that will feature tour exclusive shirts, hats and accessories. To help host these Ghoulish events, JC will be partnering up with local bakeries, schools, boutiques and art spaces. The mix of settings and people guarantees that each night will be a truly memorable fright fest. The tour will kick off New York City on September 28th and will conclude back in Boston on October 30th. There are a few new cities added to this year’s tour and few old standbys as well.
The Blot was thrilled to hear Houston made the cut again! I had a blast at Houston’s 2010 Suitcase Tour Stop and I can’t wait to see Johnny at Crave Cupcakes on October 23rd! So, Monday night was the highly anticipated Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour stop in Houston, Texas. The Blot got to Crave Cupcakes a few hours early to scope out a place in line and ended up hanging out with some really cool people from around Houston as we all waited for the arrival of Johnny Cupcake and Co.

To be honest, I had no idea what to expect. While JC's tour stops have consistently been drawing huge crowds, you just never know. There wasn’t a huge crowd when I first arrived (I was probably one of the first 30 people in line), by the start of the event there were easily 300-400 people all screaming Johnny’s name. Being in the front, I was able to see JC interact with his fans from the moment he arrived, and to be honest, it was pretty inspiring. Johnny’s such a nice and humble guy, and he really went out of his way to speak with each and every one of his fans.
The Johnny Cupcakes 2010 Suitcase Tour was created so Johnny could have personal meet-ups with fans from around the country and celebrate the humble buildings of his brand, and that was definitely accomplished here in Houston on Monday night. Johnny prides himself on building a community through his brand and that was never more apparent than the hours he spent sitting on a bench outside of Crave talking with fans, sharing stories, signing autographs and performing magic tricks for the youngsters in attendance. In many ways, the pop-up store inside Crave was secondary to Johnny’s primary goal of bringing his extended family together to celebrate their love for the "Cupcake and Crossbones."
But don’t let me fool you, everyone was hoping to get their hands on the limited edition gear Johnny was selling inside Crave. Luckily, Aly and I got inside early and had our pick of the merchandise. There were six tour exclusive t-shirts, and other tour exclusives like buttons, hats, ties and posters. We got tees and a couple buttons, and quickly headed outside to chat and take pictures with Johnny.
Besides meeting a lot of cool fellow JC fans, there were two main highlights of the night. The first was meeting Houston's own Bun B, one half of the legendary hip hop group UGK, who came out to take part in the event. But the real highlight of the event came when I introduced myself to Johnny, only to find out he reads The Blot Says…! How cool is that!?! I totally geeked out after he said that, but I tried my best to keep myself composed. If I wasn’t already, that news would have definitely made me a Johnny Cupcakes fan for life.

As you may or may not know, one of the foundations of the Johnny Cupcakes brand was when John used to sling wrinkled up, gas scented t-shirts out of his crusty suitcase while on tour with his former band. There were even tours where he’d barely pack any clothes for him to wear, so he could make more room for his Johnny Cupcakes gear. Starting this April, JC’s going back to his roots and scheduling an old school Suitcase Tour as a way to meet his many faithful customers scattered across our great country. If you follow The Blot on Twitter, then you already know how excited I am about the upcoming Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour. Johnny Cupcakes is one of my favorite designers/brands, and I’m really looking forward to meeting John during his tour stop here in Houston on April 12th.
John will be driving the CupcakeMobile all around the USA to sling t-shirts out of his suitcase and hang out with the Johnny Cupcakes faithful. It a great way to celebrate the humble beginnings of the Johnny Cupcakes brand, while meeting long time customers from around the country. There will be six suitcase exclusive t-shirts and a few other specials that can only be purchased at tour stops, and each stop on the tour will be hosted by various neat businesses—art galleries, boutiques, bakeries, toy shops, and many others. There will even be some delicious free treats and surprises at most of these stops!
Each tour stop will be video recorded and JC will compile the footage into a video webisode, which will be uploaded every single day. All of the extra footage will eventually be turned into a full documentary of the tour, which will be released at a later date.
