Creature from the Black Lagoon Screen Print by Stan & Vince

Later today, Mondo will be releasing this incredible movie poster for Creature from the Black Lagoon Screen Print by Stan and Vince. Here's what Stan and Vince had to say about the both the film and the design of their screen print: “When Mondo asked us to work on a poster for Creature from the Black Lagoon, we didn’t hesitate for a second! The Creature!!! One of the most beautiful, iconic Universal classic monsters...along with the Frankenstein's Monster, the Mummy, The Metaluna Mutant and a few others. There aren't very many in the club! We watched an anaglyph version of the film on French television in 1982 when we were 13-years-old. The experience was such a big moment for each of us and still remains in our minds with the same emotion and nostalgia.

Over sixty years after the release of the movie, we didn’t want to play on the mystery by representing just a part of the Creature. On the contrary, we imagined this poster on the walls of fans like ourselves able to contemplate and examine this amazing monster each day. Additionally, the idea of his arm rising out of the frame was included as a tribute to one of the first 3D films in cinema history.”

Creature from the Black Lagoon by Stan and Vince is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Standard Edition is limited to 375 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Black and White Variant is limited to 200 pieces and will retail for $75. Both versions will go on sale at a random time today, Thursday, August 6th, at the Mondo online store.

Dracula Screen Print by Martin Ansin

If you can remember way back to the beginning of 2011, Mondo’s first release was the amazing Dracula poster by Aaron Horkey and Vania. Well, Mondo got so many emails asking, "Where's Lugosi?!" Well, to properly bookend the year, Mondo is releasing its second Dracula poster of 2011 featuring Bela Lugosi and produced by Martin Ansin. But don't worry, this isn't the end of Mondo's Universal Monsters Screen Print Series.  The Austin based company has huge plans for it in 2012!

What’s awesome about Mondo’s final release of 2011 is the three different versions they produced of it. First up is the Blood Red Regular Edition. Then there is the rare Metallic Ink Black and White Variant. And last but not least is something very special…a Transylvanian coffin shaped poster on wood with a super low edition!

Dracula by Martin Ansin is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Blood Red Regular Edition has a limited edition run size of 350 pieces and retails for $45, while the Metallic Ink Black and White Variant has a run size of 100 pieces and retails for $85. My favorite of the bunch, the Transylvanian Coffin Wood Screen print measures 21”x36”, comes hand numbered and has a limited edition run size of just 75 pieces. Universal Monsters Screen Prints by Kevin Tong & Martin Ansin

Yesterday Mondo announced the its all new Universal Monsters screen print series, which debuts today with two amazing prints. The first release is by Kevin Tong who has masterfully illustrated the poster for H. G. Wells' classic film The Invisible Man. The Blot absolutely loves what Kevin did with this print, especially the way he illustrated the bandages coming off the Invisible Man’s head.

The second Universal Monsters release is The Mummy by Martin Ansin, who has truly outdone himself. Just look at the Hieroglyphic Variant below which is an accurate translation of the film’s credit block! How freaking cool is that!??!

Both prints seen above will go on sale at the Mondo online store today, Thursday, August 11th, at a random time. The Invisible Man by Kevin Tong is a 24"x36" hand numbered screen print. This print has a limited edition run size of 285 prints and will retail for $45. The Mummy by Martin Ansin is a 24"x36" hand numbered screen print. The Standard Edition has a limited edition run size of 385 pieces and will retail for $45, while the Hieroglyphic Variant has a limited edition run size of 150 pieces and will retail for $75.
