Road Crates will be releasing a timed, limited edition Pee-wee’s Playhouse 1,000 piece puzzle by artist Jerrod Maruyama as part of Comic-Con@Home! The puzzle will come in two versions, a Regular Limited Edition ($25) and a Signed Limited Edition ($65). The signed version will come with an actual autographed mini-print by Paul Reubens! SDCC 2020 First Look: Art of Sofubi Book by Mondo

Yesterday, Mondo held a rad San Diego Comic-Con 2020 panel entitled ““Lights, Kaiju, Action... DESTROY – ‘The Art of Sofubi’ + A Big, Big Announcement” where they showcased a new collection of officially licensed Godzilla merchandise, including statues, soft vinyl figures and tiki mugs. But what got The Blot really excited was news that Mondo is publishing a new book entitled “Art of Sofubi”! It will be released sometime next year (2021).

SDCC 2020 First Look: Godzilla Sofubi Vinyl Figure Line by Mondo Launches with Hedorah!

On Thursday, Mondo held a fun San Diego Comic-Con 2020 panel entitled “An Evening With Toys – A Sneak Peek at Mondo's Toys and Collectibles Lineup” where they showcased a ton of their upcoming releases. One of the most exciting announcements is that Mondo will be producing a new line of Godzilla soft vinyl figures! The first figure in this officially licensed Toho sofubi toy line is the 6” Hedorah.

As Mondo explained, “Getting the honor to make Godzilla inspired Sofubi is a dream come true for us here at Mondo, so we can promise that these will be made with love! Our Hedorah Sofbui figure was designed and sculpted by Hector Arce. And will be the first one to launch our Sofubi and Godzilla line.”

San Diego Comic-Con 2020 may be canceled, but that doesn’t mean the Summer Slime art show has been! The annual sofubi show by artists Paul Kaiju, Bwanna Spoons and Rampage Toys that typically takes place the Saturday night of Comic-Con has now been moved online. This year as part of San Diego Comic-Con / Summer Slime, Paul is debuting his newest soft vinyl figure – Baby Draco!

For its first colorway, Baby Draco has been in cast in Spicy Cod Roe “Mentiako” colored soft Japanese vinyl with slight blue glitter. This 7” tall figure with 8 points of articulation will be available in an unpainted Blank Edition ($160) and a Painted Metallic Edition ($210). Each figure also comes with Asbestora alternate parts that can be changed with heat.

But that’s not all! PK is also release a micro run of the Draco Jackelope sofubi! This figure is limited to just 4 hand painted figures and will retail for $350.

Lord of Light Guaraan Vinyl Figure by Jack Kirby x Mike Royer x Unbox Industries

Wow, check out this insanely out of this world new soft vinyl figure Lord of Light Guaraan by Jack Kirby, Mike Royer and Unbox Industries! It’s the absolute perfect new figure to debut during San Diego Comic-Con 2020. Based off the breathtaking concept work created by Jack Kirby, Mike Royer and Barry Ira Gellar, Guaraan, the Blue God at the right hand of Terminal of the Gods, is one of the amazing characters featured in a series of illustrations conceived for a project based on Lord of Light by Robert Zelazny (you can read more details here at LordofLight.com).

Mike Royer worked as Jack Kirby’s primary inker during his tenure at DC Comics and collaborated on a wide range of titles including the incredible Fourth World project, The Demon and Kamandi. Unbox Industries had the incredible opportunity to work with Mike Royer directly as he prepared the details for the paint application. This alone requires over two hundred paint masks, and boy does it look and feel like Jack Kirby’s majesty design and art style.

Guaraan is based on the original 1978 Lord of Light drawing “Terminal of the Gods” by Jack Kirby and inked by Mike Royer, co-designed by Jack Kirby and Barry Ira Geller, which was made famous in the 2012 feature film, Argo.
