These San Diego Comic-Con 2016 Exclusive First Shot Prototype Batman and Superman Jumbo Figure were developed using state of the art 3D technology where Gentle Giant Ltd. took original mint condition Super Powers Batman and Superman figures and created a highly accurate digital model with the use of 3D scanners. Coming Soon: Super Powers & Batman: The Animated Series 12” Jumbo Vintage Action Figures by Gentle Giant

One of the coolest announcements at Toy Fair 2015 came from our friends at Gentle Giant, who unveiled two new DC Comics 12” vintage action figure toy lines! As you all know The Blot’s a little obsessed with Kenner’s iconic Super Powers Collection toy line from the ‘80s, and Gentle Giant will be taking those original 4” figures and blown them up to a whopping 12” scale. Now I just want to know if these jumbo retro action figures will also recreate the Super Powers Collection’s action feature with the squeeze of their legs.

Gentle Giant’s second new DC Comics 12” vintage action figure line will be based on Kenner’s popular Batman: The Animated Series 5” action figures from the ‘90s. It’s amazing how much Warner Bros’ Batman: The Animated Series cartoon has influenced the Batman franchise overall, and I’m sure Batman fans everywhere will go crazy for these 1/6 scale poseable jumbo figures. Best of all, both DC Comics jumbo vintage toy lines come with removable real cloth capes. Look for both of these exciting releases to debut in 2016!

SDCC 2014 Exclusive DC Comics Total Heroes Ultra Cyborg Action Figure

Mattel expands its DC Comics Total Heroes lineup with this awesome metallic San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Ultra Cyborg action figure! As homage to the Super Powers Cyborg figure from the 1980s, this figure has silver VUM deco, includes two interchangeable heads (his classic look and an updated stylized version), and three sets of hands. This hybrid of man and machine brings with him a tool and gear for just about any job he might encounter, including a Mega Blade, a Concussion Cannon and a Sonic Scrambler (all of which fit onto his arms), and a Jetpack with Airfoil Wings so he can take to the air! And that’s why this is “Ultra” Cyborg! If only he was packaged on a Super Powers inspired blister card.

The Ultra Cyborg DC Comics Total Heroes Action Figure will be available for pre-order at MattyCollector.com on June 24, 2014 to be picked up at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 and sold at the show for $25 each. After SDCC this Total Heroes figure will be available at MattyCollector.com on August 5, 2014.

DC Comics Super Powers 6” Action Figures by Mattel

Sadly this year Mattel is wrapping up its popular DC Universe Classics 6” action figure toy line featuring DC Comics' heroes and villains. But they’re not letting the toy line end without one last big hurrah! At Toy Fair 2014 Mattel announced it will be releasing six final DC Universe Super Powers action figures just in time for the 30th anniversary of Kenner’s Super Powers toy line. Not only that, but each figure comes packaged on a retro Super Powers blister card!

As you know The Blot is more than a little obsessed with the ‘80s Super Powers toy line, and I absolutely love the idea of blister carded DC Universe Classics figures. I must not be the only one as Medicom has done it with their line of DC Comics 100% Be@rbricks, Kidrobot will be doing it with their upcoming DC Comics Mini Figures, and now Mattel will be doing with their DCUC figures.

The final six DC Universe Super Powers figures are going to be done Four Horsemen style, and include Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Gold Superman, Green Lantern as The Riddler, and Mr. Mxyzptlk, with the giant Kalibak as the series’ collect and connect figure. Since I wasn’t familiar with the Gold Superman and Green Lantern as The Riddler action figures, The Blot turned to our friends at Action Figure Insider for the scoop! According to Daniel Picket, Chief Insider at AFi, in 1986 Pacipa released a “Super Amigos” Riddler that was a repainted Green Lantern sold only in South America, while the gold Superman was not actually released but was planned as part of the line for Superman's 50th Anniversary.

The first three figures will be released in September 2014, while the next three figures released in October 2014 exclusively at MattyCollector.com.

First Look: New DC Comics x Kidrobot Vinyl Figures

For The Blot the biggest announcement coming out of ToyFair 2014 was Kidrobot’s acquisition of the DC Comics license! Kidrobot will be releasing a ton of new officially licensed toys this year, but the only property they hadn’t leaked any information on coming into ToyFair was their collaboration with DC Comics. As you know The Blot’s a HUGE DC Comics fan and I have been seriously drooling over these ToyFair 2014 pics courtesy of ToyArk.com!

The Blot especially loves seeing so many different Kidrobot x DC Comics offerings. According to Kidrobot’s ToyFair 2014 booth the toy company will be releasing a line of blind box DC Comics New 52 mini figures, a line of blind box DC Comics Labbits, individually carded DC Comics Labbits and a retro line of Super Powers DC Comics Mini Figures! The Blot’s kind of obsessed with all things Super Powers, especially blister card packaging, so you know I’m going to be all over this release.

What’s really cool about this release is the variety of characters Kidrobot will be including in their DC Comics toy lines. Of course you’ve got Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman and the rest of the Justice League, but there’s also Animal Man, Deadman, Blue Beetle, Firestorm, Swamp Thing and multiple Red Hood figures. But what’s a guy got to do to get a Booster Gold figure included in one of these releases!?! More details to come soon!!!

SDCC 13 Exclusive The Riddler DC Universe 100% Be@rbrick by Medicom

As you probably know by now, The Blot is obsessed with Medicom’s line of DC Comics Super Powers Be@rbricks, and thankfully we’re getting not one but two DC Be@rbricks at San Diego Comic-Con 2013!!! Not only is Diamond Comic Distributors releasing a Superman 100% Be@rbrick, but they’re also releasing a super limited The Riddler 100% Be@rbrick as well! Here’s hoping Diamond and Medicom keep releasing DC Be@rbricks with blister card packaging inspired by Kenner’s 1980s Super Powers toy line.
