F9: The Fast and The Furious Pop! Vinyl Figures by Funko

The Blot is pumped for F9 and I was equally excited to learn Funko will be releasing new The Fast and The Furious Pop! vinyl figures of Vin Diesel’s Dominic Toretto and his brother / enemy Jakob Toretto (aka John Cena).  Does this mean the Jakob Pop! can double as a WWE release too?

Each F9 Pop! Vinyl Figure stands 3.75” tall, features one point of articulation and comes packaged in a full color displayable window box. Collectors can pre-order this figures now at Entertainment Earth for $10.99 here.

The Fast & The Furious Pop! Vinyl Figures by Funko

Fast & Furious Pop! Movies Vinyl Figures Series 1 - Dominic Toretto, Brian O'Conner & Luke Hobbs

Even though The Blot isn’t really into cars, one of my favorite modern movie franchises is The Fast and The Furious! I’ve seen all seven films multiple times. What can I say, I’m a huge Vin Diesel fan. So of course I was really pumped to learn Funko is releasing a new line of Fast and Furious Pop! Movies vinyl figures based on the fifth film in the series. To kick things off, Funko is releasing a wave of figures featuring the franchise’s three biggest stars: Diesel’s Dominic Toretto, Paul Walker’s Brian O'Conner and Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s DSS Agent Luke Hobbs.

It’s Official: Vin Diesel to Voice Groot in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy

Vin Diesel Has Been Cast As The Voice Of Groot in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Live Action Film

The world’s worst secret was confirmed last weekend when Marvel announced Vin Diesel has officially been cast as the voice of Groot in 2014’s Guardians of the Galaxy. This isn’t really all that shocking of news, but I loved the above photo Marvel released of Diesel and Groot so much I thought I’d write up a brief blog post about it. Plus, I’m currently watching the entire The Fast and The Furious franchise right now, so it’s all Vin Diesel all the time at The Blot residency. Have I mentioned lately how excited I am for Guardians of the Galaxy!?! I can’t wait to for all the tie-in toys to start dropping!

Guardians of the Galaxy storm the planet on August 1, 2014.

Fast & Furious Teaser Movie Poster and Trailers

New Model. Original Parts.

Back in 2001 The Blot was obsessed with The Fast and the Furious. Between the fast cars and the hot women what was there not to love? I could have watched that movie 24/7. It had a great cast, which included the next big action star (Vin Diesel) and Varsity Blues’ other quarterback (Paul Walker) as well as relative unknowns Michelle Rodriguez and Jordana Brewster, along with a decent storyline and awesome special effects. But, I credit a lot of the film’s success to director Rob Cohen’s vision rather than to the film’s stellar cast. It’s unfortunate then that while Fast & Furious reunites the franchise’s original cast, Cohen is absent from the director’s chair.

Instead, Fast & Furious is being directed by Justin Lin, who also directed Tokyo Drift, the third movie in The Fast and the Furious franchise. The problem is, I don’t even consider Tokyo Drift a legit The Fast and the Furious installment since it featured an all new cast, setting and storyline. While the film’s sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, wasn’t amazing, it at least starred Paul Walker and continued the storyline from the original movie.

I have no idea what to expect from Fast & Furious, but I am glad to see the fourth installment of the franchise return to its roots and feature some characters I’m actually interested in. Where has Diesel’s Dominic Toretto been hiding for the past 8 years anyway? It really is a shame Diesel wasn’t able to continue to crank out quality action movies (XXX) and instead went the sci-fi route. This was supposed to be his decade, wasn’t it?
