Obey Giant “Berlin Tower” Screen Print by Shepard Fairey

Obey Giant “Berlin Tower” Screen Print by Shepard Fairey

While I don’t know this for sure, The Blot assumes “Berlin Tower” is the second screen print in Obey Giant’s new “Art In The Streets” series. However, there’s no mention of this on the Fairey’s website or credit given for the photo it’s based on. Either way, it’s a nice print but not one I would necessarily want to hang on my walls. I do like the prominent placement of the Giant paster in the center of the image though.

“Berlin Tower” by Shepard Fairey is an 18”x24″ screen print, comes signed and numbered by the artist, and has a limited edition run size of 450 pieces. This is the second Obey Giant print from the “Art In The Streets” art show, and will retail for $45 each. This print goes sale at a random time this Thursday, March 17th, at the Obey Giant online store.

EW Cover Story “Life After LOST”

Entertainment Weekly Issue #1146 LOST Cover - March 18, 2011 - “Life After LOST”

The Blot had a really pleasant surprise waiting for him in his mailbox last weekend, the newest issue of Entertainment Weekly with a LOST cover story! Almost 1 year after the show’s series finale aired on ABC, EW interviewed the cast to examine what “Life After LOST” meant to them. While I loved the fact that EW unexpectedly released an all new LOST cover, I thought the article itself was pretty lacking (especially for a cover story). In fact, besides a few quotes most of the information in the article is old news, especially to LOST’s hardcore fandom who get all of their information from this thing I like to call “the internet.” Nevertheless, while I was disappointed in the article I’ll take a bad LOST cover story any day of the week. At the end of the day, so long as the stars of LOST are still gracing the covers of major weekly magazines it means the show is still relevant in the ever changing world of pop culture.

Red Skullhead 8 Inch Dunny by Huck Gee

Kidrobot - Skullhead 8 Inch Dunny by Huck Gee

Here’s the Kidrobot release The Blot’s been waiting 6 months for…the second colorway of Huck Gee’s Skullhead 8” Dunny! Huck's Skullhead Dunny was originally released as a 3” Dunny in 2007’s Series 4 and then as an 8” GID SDCC Exclusive last summer. Since both of those were extremely limited releases, here an opportunity for the rest of us to finally get our hands on one of these awesome figures.

Huck’s freshest 8 inch Dunny is crafted with exquisite detail, including tight red and white vertical stripes and intricate paints. His massive cranium features embedded crossbones, and with his articulated head, arms, and removable wings, this Skullhead is primed for lethal action!

Huck Gee’s iconic Red Skullhead 8” Dunny drops March 24th in Kidrobot stores, kidrobot.com and specialty retailers for $80 each, and had a limited edition run size of only 650 pieces. Good luck to everyone getting their hands on one!

First Look: Dunny Series 2011

First Look - Dunny Series 2011 Checklist and Ratios

In case you haven’t seen this yet, here’s the first leak of Kidrobot’s upcoming Dunny Series 2011 (with ratios included). The Blot’s REALLY excited about this series because Kidrobot has included a number of designs by popular artists from the designer toy community who have never had a figure produced by KR before. There are so many artists who create truly amazing work in our toy community, and it’s great to finally see some of those names included in a Dunny series. The visibility and notoriety an artist receives through their inclusion in a Dunny series is unrivaled, and I’m glad so many new artists are getting the opportunity to share their work with the world.

From the small photo above, I’ve been able to make out designs by DrilOne, Squink, Le Merde, 64 Colors, Travis Lampe and Besto. I am also pretty sure two of the Dunnys on the bottom row were designed by MAD and the Dunnys in the bottom right corner were designed by Huck Gee. Who else can you spot in the leaked photo above???
