Ted Mosby Is A Jerk!

It might have appeared to be just another throwaway line in this week’s episode of How I Met Your Mother, but as always there’s more to it than meets the eye. As we found out in "The Bracket," Barney told one of the women he slept with and then never spoke to again that his name was Ted Mosby. When Barney and Lily went to find her and apologize for his actions we find out that not only did the woman still think his name was Ted Mosby, but she created a website to warn all the women in New York to stay away. And from that little segment comes TedMosbyIsAJerk.com.

Ted Mosby Is A Jerk - Barney Good Bye Letter
Created by the How I Met Your Mother crew, the website is hilarious and even comes with its own theme song which is really funny in a stalker-ish kind of way. The site’s also got some funny drawings of deaths that would be too good for Barney/Ted, but the best part of the site is that one page references a story from last year in which a former friend steals Ted’s name and becomes a porn star. I have to say the fake porn ads are a really nice touch to TedMosbyIsAJerk.com.

Fates That Would Be Too Good For Ted Mosby (Barney)
James Van Der BeekAs for some other How I Met Your Mother news, it seems like my greatest fears have come true. How I Met Your Mother is becoming the next Will & Grace, a funny show that goes down hill quickly by constantly using stunt casting for a quick bump in the ratings. On the heels of Britney Spears’ guest appearance two weeks ago comes news that Dawson a.k.a. James Van Der Beek will be guest staring on a future episode this season. (link) I don’t want to ruin anything, but lets just say his appearance involves another flash back to the career of our favorite 90’s Canadian pop star Robin Sparkles! I do love me some Robin Sparkles so maybe Van Der Beek’s appearance won’t be all bad.

Along those same lines, it sounds like after the success of Britney Spears’ guest appearance, the producers of HIMYM are considering a return engagement for the aging pop star. According to Michael Ausiello multiple sources are confirming that “Brit’s in talks to reprise her role as Ted’s stalker in at least one more episode.” (link) I don’t know about you, but I really don’t see the point.

How I Met Your Mother - Special Guest Stars Britney Spears and Sarah Chalke
Yes it was nice to get the boost in ratings from her guest staring in an episode, but do they really think bringing her back will have the same impact? The more times she appears the lesser her impact will be. Besides, HIMYM really doesn’t want to be known as the show Brittney Spears is on do they? I guess they’re just trying to pull out all the stops to ensure a 4th season, and for that I say do whatever must be done. But please, once the show is finally renewed, dump the celebrity guest stars and just sign Sarah Chalke for the long run.

Gaius Baltar Is My Homeboy

Battlestar Galactica - Gaius Baltar Is My Homeboy T-ShirtWhen The Blot heard about this latest addition to the line of “Is My Homeboy” t-shirts, I had to spread the word. Especially after my last post on the different “Is My Homeboy” t-shirts out there. Season 4 of Battlestar Galactica starts tonight, and “in celebration of the final season of Battlestar Galactica returning April 4th,” enclothe.com is selling a limited edition Baltar Is My Homeboy shirt for one month and one month only.

Battlestar Galactica - Gaius Baltar Is My Homeboy T-Shirt
The shirt comes in white and black and can be purchased for $19.00 here. As the shirt’s description reads, “sure Gaius Baltar may be responsible for the extinction of the entire human race, but he’s still my homeboy.” Who can argue with that one!?!

Reminder: The Season Premier of Battlestar Galactica Airs This Friday

After a year hiatus, one of the best shows of the past 5 years returns to television this Friday. Battlestar Galactica Season 4 premiers tomorrow, Friday, April 4th at 10/9C on the Sci-Fi Channel. I’m pretty pumped, not only for the new season but also because I just picked up a copy of the show’s television movie Battlestar Galactica: Razor, which I haven't seen yet. Hopefully I’ll have time to watch it tonight or tomorrow before the start of Season 4.

Battlestar Galactica - The Cast of Season 4
With the question of who is the final Cyclon on the tip of every BSG fan’s tongue, Battlestar Galactica’s fourth and final season should be a great one. Plus, after months of speculation and hypothesis as to the meaning of the Battlestar Galactica Last Supper promotional photo below, we should be finally getting some answers as to its real meaning coming our way soon. I also can’t wait to see what’s in store for the crew of the Battlestar Galactica if and when the Colonial fleet ever makes it to Earth.

The New Kids On The Block Are Back

And millions of children from the 80’s sit stunned. Yes, the headline you read is not a hoax, the New Kids on the Block are reuniting and even possibly going on tour to promote a new album (or maybe just a greatest hits album with 1-6 new songs). To be honest, no one is quite sure what is going, but it seems that NKOTB are officially getting the band back together. For more confirmation on the reunion just take a look at a recently released photo of the band below:

New Kids On The Block in 2008
The rumor circulating around the web is that the reunion and possible tour could be to “celebrate the 20th anniversary of the release of their mega-hit album Hangin’ Tough” in conjunction with a re-release of the album with additional bonus material (similar to what Michael Jackson did earlier this year with the release of a 25th anniversary edition of Thriller). (link)

New Kids On The Block 2008 logo
According to the newly redesigned NKOTB.com we are sure to know more come Friday morning. This is because if you go the official New Kids on the Block website you’ll notice a clock counting countdown to Friday, April 4th at 7 AM EST. It has been confirmed by People.com that the clock is counting down to the band's scheduled reunion on the hit NBC morning show Today. According to People’s source, “all five original New Kids on the Block members – Joey McIntyre, Donnie Wahlberg, Danny Wood and brothers Jordan and Jonathan Knight – will appear together in the morning show’s courtyard on April 4.” (link)

I am still a little shocked, so please forgive me for going a little speechless here. Last night I commented to Al how I was surprised there was enough interest to garner a New Kids on the Block reunion, to which she replied I hope you know we’re 100% going. I guess I spoke too soon. I will say I’d much rather go to a NKOTB reunion show than the joke of a reunion tour the Backstreet Boys are trying to get going. I guess I need to start getting together my sweetest 80’s gear for an upcoming show. The only question is who do I make a poster for, Donnie or Joey?

Knight Rider Is A Go This Fall On NBC

Knight Rider - Justin Bruening as Mike TracerWhile the official press conference will be held later today, the news that Knight Rider has been chosen to become a prime-time series has already leaked out. (link) According to Variety, Knight Rider, “the Doug Liman produced actioner whose two-hour backdoor pilot snagged solid ratings in February,” has been added to NBC’s 2008 fall line-up. (link) This should come as a shock to no one considering the initial Knight Rider movie “clocked nearly 13 million viewers, making it the second-most-watched scripted program that week…[and] it copped the biggest crowd of 18-to-49-year-olds, NBC’s target age bracket, of any made-for-TV movie or theatrical on any network in nearly three years.” (link)

While those numbers are staggering, it seems silly to expect such a low quality made-for-TV movie to be able to sustain such a large number of viewers as a weekly serial next fall. The nostalgia for Knight Rider may have drawn viewers to their tube on a random Sunday night, but the show better deliver, and deliver fast, or viewers will not stick around. Because of the increased number of channels available and the high quality of television viewers have become accustomed to, viewers are less inclined to wait for a show to develop.

Knight Rider - An Icon Reborn
This means NBC Co-Chairman Ben Silverman better make sure all of the show’s ducks are in a row before unleashing the final product to the American viewing public. I’m hoping Knight Rider improves quality wise and takes off as a series, but odds are this show, like many other new shows debuting in the fall, will crash and burn. It’s unfortunate but it’s also the world we live in, shows nowadays get 2-3 weeks to find an audience or its arrivederci. Although, the fact that the show has already debuted as a TV movie to strong numbers should go a long way to fortifying an audience, at least for the first few airings.

The Last Days of Chris Farley

The Last Days of Chris Farley is a new tell all book written by the late comedian’s brother Tom Farley and Tanner Colby, which focuses on the time before the Saturday Night Live legend’s untimely death due to a drug overdose on December 18th, 1997 at the age of 33. The New York Post’s Page Six is reporting that the book should be pretty juicy and even quotes “several of the actor’s friends, who saw the tragedy coming a mile down the line.” (link) There are already some great quotes coming from the book and I’d imagine many of Chris Farley’s (Tommy Boy, Black Sheep) friends have a lot to say on the passing of such a great talent. You can read the entire Page Six report here or by clicking on the picture below:

Page 6 - The Last Days of Chris Farley
Chris Farley was the most popular actor on Saturday Night Live at a time when it had some of the best comedic talent of the 90’s, including rising stars like Chris Rock, Adam Sandler, David Spade and Rob Schneider. The guy’s talent was endless and hopefully this book won’t tarnish the legacy of his work, but instead allow fans a glimpse of the demons Farley faced on a daily basis during his long struggle with drugs. Usually books like this tend to be a money grab by the deceased’s family, but The Blot is actually interested in reading The Last Days of Chris Farley because there just isn’t that much info out there about a great young talent taken from the stage well before his time.

Robot Chicken Star Wars Special Coming To DVD This Summer

Robot Chicken - Star Wars Special
Finally there’s definite confirmation as to the release date for Robot Chicken’s Star Wars Special DVD. TV Shows on DVD.com is reporting that the Robot Chicken – Star Wars DVD will be released July 22nd. (link)

Robot Chicken - Star Wars Special DVD
The Blot’s been waiting for this one for a while and its going to look great next to my copy of Family Guy’s Star Wars tribute Family Guy Presents Blue Harvest. I love all things [adult swim] and Robot Chicken, and thought the Robot Chicken tribute episode was even funnier than Family Guy's version. So, if you like Star Wars or Robot Chicken then you’ll love them together in this extended, 30 minute episode of The Blot’s favorite [adult swim] show.

The X-Files 2 Teaser Movie Poster

I was never that big of a fan of Chris Carter’s masterpiece The X-Files, but its run from 1993-2002 on FOX turned out to be pretty groundbreaking stuff. For someone who is really into science fiction dramas I just could never get into David Duchovny and Gillian Anderson as FBI agents Fox Mulder and Dana Scully. I have managed to see the original X-Files movie though since it was replayed just about every day on FX during the first couple years of the channel’s existence. I’m sure I’ll see this one too when it debuts on FOX a few months after its release in theaters. For all you die hard X-Philes out there, here is the first teaser promotional poster for The X-Files sequel.

The X-Files 2 Teaser Promo Movie Poster
I’m thinking this second movie is a few years too late to make that big of a splash in theaters, so if you have any interest in seeing this movie in theaters you’d better show up on opening weekend! The X-Files 2 is due in theaters this summer on July 25th, 2008.

Barney-ism Of The Week

Something strange is going on, I was down at the hardware store trying to get a little something, something.

“Wait you go to the hardware store to pick up girls?” – Robin

There are four kinds of women who go down to the hardware store by themselves:

1. Single
2. Recently Single
3. Recently Divorced
4. Lesbian who will let me watch

“You could not be more evil.” - Lily

Sorry, five: Recently Widowed.

"The Bracket"

How I Met Your Mother

Talk about rebound. After an ok yet much hyped episode last week, last night’s episode might be one of my top 3 favorite How I Met Your Mothers of all time. The Barney-centric, March Madness tie-in episode was hilarious from start to finish and had, without a doubt, the best ending of any HIMYM to date. Lets just say it was an homage to Neil Patrick Harris’ other timeless pop culture icon from the late 80’s/early 90’s, Dr. Doogie Howser, and leave it at that. If you didn’t catch "The Bracket" last night, do yourself a favor and be on the look out for a re-run of it this summer. You won’t be disappointed, trust me. The bracket of the top 64 women Barney has slept with and wronged was well, in a word, Awesome.
