Threadless - Star Wars Inspired T-Shirt “Gentlemen Love Light Swords”

Threadless 10th Anniversary Sale
Yesterday Threadless launched its 10th Anniversary Sale, and for 48 hours all t-shirts in stock are on sale for just $10! For those of you who love pop culture themed t-shirts this is a killer deal because Threadless has recently produced some awesome tees inspired by some of The Blot’s favorite movies, television shows and comics. Last week they released a Batman themed tee, and now comes the Star Wars inspired “Gentlemen Love Light Swords.”

As you can see, “Gentlemen Love Light Swords” takes some seriously old school photos of men playing golf and baseball and replaces their clubs and bats with lightsabers. It’s a cool idea that I think turned out even better after being printed on a crème t-shirt.

You can purchase the comic book inspired “Gentlemen Love Light Swords” at Threadless.com on sale for $10 (normally it retails for $18). The shirt comes in both guys and girls styles, sizes S-2XL.

Disney Vinylmation The Muppets Series 1

While there’s been a lot of mixed reaction to Disney’s limited edition Vinylmation blind boxed figures in the designer vinyl community, this is one Vinylmation series The Blot can really get behind. After the popularity of Vinylmation Park Series 1's Kermit the Frog figure comes a series dedicated solely to The Muppets! The Vinylmation Muppets Series 1 includes twelve 3” characters, including one hard to find mystery chase.

Disney Vinylmation The Muppets Series 1 - Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Rowlf, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew & Beaker 3 Inch Vinyl Figures

The Vinylmation Muppets Series 1 includes Miss Piggy, Fozzie Bear, Rowlf the Dog, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Beaker, Rizzo the Rat, The Swedish Chef, Sweetums, Statler and Waldorf, Bean Bunny and a mystery chase. The Muppets Series 1 chase figure has been confirmed to be a 55th Anniversary tuxedo wearing Kermit the Frog figure. If I could change one thing about this series, I would remove Sweetums and turn him into a 9” Vinylmation figure. He’s always been one of the biggest Muppets and a 3 inch figure just doesn’t do him justice.

Disney’s Vinylmation Muppets Series was released exclusively at Walt Disney World Resort on February 8th. This collection will be released at the Disneyland Resort sometime in March. These Resort exclusives are sure to be a hit with collectors and fans alike, so be sure to grab a few blind boxes when you have the chance, because you never know when these might sell out!

PNE: The Hangover Print Set by Justin Hampton, Emek & Jermaine Rogers

PNE - The Hangover Screen Print by EMEK
A short while ago Justin Hampton of PNE (Post Neo Explosionism) was contacted by movie director Todd Phillips. Phillips explained that he wanted to do something special for the cast and crew of his hit movie The Hangover, as it had become the highest grossing comedy of all time. A great rapport developed and Phillips commissioned PNE for a special project. He wanted Justin, Emek and Jermaine Rogers to create a set of commemorative rock-art style prints that embraced the no-holds-barred and reckless abandon of his hit film. "Make the posters...just wrong" Phillips said. With this inspiration, the trifecta set out to do just that. After months in development the project is now finished and the set of 3 prints is complete, each showcasing a different slant on the film.

PNE - The Hangover Screen Print by Justin Hampton
In a special arrangement with Todd, the director has agreed to let PNE release a limited number of The Hangover print sets to the poster collecting community. This set of 3 screen printed posters will be released this Thursday, March 18th. The 3 prints measure 30”x20” and are available in a limited edition of only 100 signed and numbered sets, which will retail for $150. There is also a very limited edition of only 25 variant sets printed on holographic foil stock, which will retail for $200.

PNE - The Hangover Screen Print by Jermaine Rogers
This set of 3 screen printed posters will be released on Thursday, March 18th, 2010 at 12 Noon PST on the official Post Neo Explosionism online store. You can find out more about each of the PNE The Hangover screen prints, as well as some very cool limited edition gifts that four lucky buyers will have the opportunity to snag, here.

PNE - The Hangover Creepy Bonus Screen Print by Justin Hampton
One bonus gift is a fourth limited edition screen print created exclusively for Todd Phillips only and not made available at all to the general public. This bonus print (pictured above) was produced as a gift from PNE to Todd Phillips and the cast and crew of The Hangover. The image is sort of an inside-joke between PNE and Todd, and showcases the mysterious and raunchy Mr. Creepy (remember the scene in the elevator?). The character appears, under different credited names, in many of Phillips' films, and is always involved in the weirdest scenarios. In the film Road Trip, he makes an appearance on the bus wearing a track suit and a curly black wig. Mr. Creepy makes a cameo near the start of Old School, again, wearing a track suit and the same curly black wig. Let's just say that Todd Phillips absolutely loved this print, cleverly put together in beautiful day-glow by Justin Hampton.

Kidrobot has already unveiled 11 of the 14 vinyl figures in Amanda Visell’s upcoming Tic Toc Apocalypse mini figure series. Well here’s one more, the Centaur chase vinyl figure! While we still don’t know this series’ ratios, I’m hoping this guy isn’t too hard to get since he looks so damn cool.

Threadless - The Joker Inspired T-Shirt “God Save the Villain!”

While it’s up for discussion as to whether or not Batman would actually wear this shirt, I quite like Threadless’ latest pop culture themed tee. Like many comic book fans, the Joker is one of The Blot’s favorite villains and “God Save the Villain!” looks like it came straight out of a classic Silver Age Batman comic in which the Joker attacked Buckingham Palace with his infamous Joker venom, turning all of Britain’s royal family into twisted Joker-like versions of themselves. Thankfully, most of those old Silver Age stories involved Batman defeating the Clown Prince of Crime in 32 pages or less!

Lost - Dr. Linus

Man, was last week’s episode of Lost awesome or what!?! We got answers, redemption and twists all in under an hour. Not only did we get to see more of Ben and Arzt in the Flash Sideways, but we also got our first Alex Rousseau appearance since her very unfortunate (and sad) death. We learned that Alex is being raised by a single mother who works two jobs to provide for her daughter. Here’s hoping we don’t have to wait too long to see Danielle show up in a Flash Sideways scene.

Lost - Dr. Linus - Michael Emerson as Ben Linus & Daniel Roebuck as Leslie Arzt
It was also cool how the writers juxtaposed the end of “Dr. Linus” with the end of “Sundown” from two weeks ago. “Sundown” ended with the formation of FLocke’s “evil” crew, including Crazy Claire and Evil Sayid, while “Dr. Linus” ended with the coming together of Jacob’s “good guys” team. For a minute there I actually thought I was watching a Season 1 episode when Lost’s classic music medley started playing and we had a slow motion Lostie reunion on the beach. Finally our cast has fully come together, albeit in two warring factions. I have to say, the makeup of Jacob’s side was quite surprising. Never in a million years did I expect Team Jacob to include Jack, Ilana, Richard AND Ben. It should be an entertaining crew though, with 3 of the show’s funniest characters (Hurley, Miles and Frank) finally hanging out together on consistent basis.

And did everyone love the scene between Jack and Richard as much as I did? For once I feel like we actually learned something from a conversation on Lost, primarily Jacob’s ability to keep his chosen ones from killing themselves. I am a little torn as to what the expression was on Jack’s face right before the dynamite should have blown up in the Black Rock. Was that a look of true faith or had Jack finally come to terms with the fact he might die? Either way, at this point Jack seems to have completely given in to his destiny and now believes whole heartedly in fate/faith.

Lost - Dr. Linus - Nestor Carbonell as Richard Alpert
The inability of candidates to kill themselves raises an interesting question: was Michael Dawson’s inability to kill himself because he was “touched” by Jacob (meaning he was also at one time a candidate)? Richard doesn’t seem to be a candidate, so I suppose Jacob’s “gift” can be given to non-candidates as well, but that doesn’t explain Michael’s true role on the island. We saw Michael try to kill himself on multiple occasions, only to find out the island wasn’t through with him yet. Then, when he finally was able to die, it was Christian Shephard who told him his time was up.

I originally felt like Michael was protected by Jacob, but as we have learned more about the smoke monster, it appears he may have been protected by FLocke instead. I think this question won’t be answered until we learn if Christian was/is the Smoke Monster or if he is some of emissary for the island. At this point, I’m leaning towards Dr. Shephard being the smoke monster because we haven’t seen him since smokey was trapped in Locke’s form.

Lost - Dr. Linus - Ken Leung as Miles Straume & Michael Emerson as Ben Linus
For me, all of the revelations/questions coming out of "Dr. Linus" tied in perfectly to the episode’s final scene, in which we discover a submarine off the island’s coast carrying Charles Widemore back to the island! You see, with all this talk of rules and gifts, the reappearance of Widemore and Alex in last week’s episode reminded me of another rule, the rule that stated Charles and Ben couldn’t kill each other. I assume this is because Jacob touched both of them, Charles at some point in the past and Ben either when he was resurrected in the temple or moments before he killed Jacob in the four toed statue. But what is the true purpose of this rule and how does it relate to the “gift” Jacob gives his chosen ones? All of this has to be related, right?

Another aspect of Jacob that bothers me is that he appears to be all knowing. For instance, when he convinced Hurley to take Jack away from the temple to the lighthouse, he said he did so to protect them from the danger about to engulf the temple. Jacob also knew the effect being at the lighthouse would have on Jack, and while we don’t know exactly what Jacob has told Ilana, it appears he’s given her hints and clues as to what’s to come.

Lost - Dr. Linus - Jorge Garcia as Hurley Reyes & Matthew Fox as Jack Shephard
If this is true, and Jacob is in fact omniscient, then doesn’t it stand to reason Jacob knew what was going to happen to Sayid and Dogen at the temple!?! The only reason Sayid was even taken to the temple and "saved" was because Jacob told Hurley to do so. Since Jacob apparently knows how all this is going to play out, he also had to know Sayid would die and be reborn infected. I take this to mean he wanted Sayid to become infected and join FLocke’s team. And this, my friends, is The Blot’s first true Season 6 theory.

Lost, among all other things, seems to be about redemption. And from what I can tell, Jacob wanted Sayid to help FLock so he could gain his trust and earn his way into FLocke's inner circle. Then, during the final conflict between Team Jacob and Team FLocke, Sayid will turn against the smoke monster and finally earn the redemption that has eluded him for so many years. Is this farfetched? Am I grasping at straws, hoping one of my favorite characters has not truly gone to the dark side? Possibly, but only time will tell! Namaste...

“Vanity Fair” Print Set by Scribe

Last Friday, the Silent Stage Gallery released the all new “Vanity Fair” print set by Kansas City artist Scribe. This release consists of two prints that feature mock Vanity Fair images with Scribe’s debonair characters in full Steampunk attire. They look pretty sick, don’t they!?!

Silent Stage Gallery x Scribe Vanity Fair Print Set
The “Vanity Fair” print set by Scribe is currently available for sale at Silent Stage Gallery’s online store under their “Collectibles” section. Each print in this set measures 8”x10” and was printed on 300gsm museum quality paper. Only 25 signed and numbered “Vanity Fair” print sets were created, and each set retails for $75. Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations - Harbin, China

On tonight’s episode of No Reservations, Tony heads to Harbin in China’s northeastern “Dongbei” area in the cold of winter - a season that defines the character of the Dongbei people and the nature of their cuisine. First up, Tony meets with his new friend Alan Wang to discuss the region, before heading into the ice-cold streets to eat pork belly and pork meatballs with local workers.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on the Travel Channel
Tony then heads for the train station for a trip to Yabuli, a work in progress winter sports resort outside Harbin in the Changbai Mountain Range. Then it's back to the city to meet up with Dmitry, a Russian friend of Alan’s from nearby Vladivostok. The two have a meal of Russian fare at Around the World Russian restaurant and consume a mass amount of vodka. The next morning, Tony heads out for some ice fishing, which is not something I’d want to partake in after a long night of binge drinking!

To wrap up his visit to Harbin, Tony eats a big banquet meal at Lao Liu Sha Zhu Cai, which literally means “kill pig cuisine”. It is a reference to the Lunar New Year tradition of slaughtering a pig for the big holiday feast, and Sha Zhu Cai is the collective name for all the dishes that can be part of that feast, pig and otherwise. I don’t know about you, but this sounds like a pretty intense episode, and definitely not one to miss!

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations airs Monday nights at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.
