The Blot was really excited to find out about the “I Like Soup” group show from Luke Chueh when he tweeted a photo of his piece in the show (which I love!). So of course I headed over to his blog to find out more. It turns out the Virginia Museum of Contemporary Art is hosting the art show, which features 46 contemporary artists re-interpreting the iconic Campbell's Soup Can as made famous by Andy Warhol. All sales will benefit MOCA’s educational programs and the Foodbank of Southeastern Virginia.

The Blot loves art shows that pay tribute to a specific artist, and as a huge Warhol fan this show is right up my alley. And what’s better than a Warhol tribute piece by Luke Chueh! Luke explained the meaning behind his piece for the “I Like Soup” show: “For my contribution, I chose to paint my bear character on a reproduction of the Campbell Soup label. The painting shows my bear staring at a soup can. And from the illustration of the can, a dialogue bubble announces an expiration date: “EXP FEB 22 87.” February 22nd, 1987 is the day Andy Warhol died. I guess what I'm saying is the day Warhol died is the day the Campbell soup can as a piece of art died.”
