SDCC 15 First Look: Heroes Reborn Teaser Television Poster

San Diego Comic-Con 2015 First Look Heroes Reborn Teaser Television Poster

Never in The Blot’s wildest dreams did I think NBC would ever bring back the once popular Heroes television show. Like many genre shows, Heroes went from hit show to has been in just 4 short seasons. But shockingly, NBC is bringing back the super powered show this fall as Heroes Reborn! Starring Zachary Levi and original cast member Jack Coleman, Heroes Reborn will also feature previous characters in guest starring roles like Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka), Matt Parkman (Greg Grunberg), Mohinder Suresh (Sendhil Ramamurthy), The Haitian (Jimmy Jean-Louis), Angela Petrelli (Cristine Rose), and Micah Sanders (Noah Gray-Cabey).

Will Heroes Reborn be good, or will it be a dud? The Blot doesn’t know, but I’m sure we’ll find out a whole lot more about the show later this week at San Diego Comic-Con 2015! In the meantime, check out this pretty non-spoiler teaser television poster NBC released for Comic-Con.

Star Trek One Sheet Black and White Character Movie Posters

What is the deal with movie posters of just a character’s face this winter? Both Star Trek and The Curious Case of Benjamin Button have them plastered all over movie theaters nationwide. I have to give the edge to the Star Trek one sheet character movie posters because the black and white effect is a nice touch. Four different character promo posters have been released so far, Chris Pine as Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Eric Bana as the villain Nero and Zoe Saldana as Uhura.

Star Trek Black and White Character Movie Posters - Chris Pine as James T. Kirk
Star Trek Black and White Character Movie Posters - Zachary Quinto as Spock
Here is a fascinating bit of trivia for everyone. In Entertainment Weekly’s almost 20 year history only one person has been featured on the magazine’s cover in consecutive weeks. Do you know who it is? The only hint The Blot is giving is that the answer obviously has something to do with this post…for the answer see below.

Star Trek Black and White Character Movie Posters - Eric Bana as Nero
Star Trek Black and White Character Movie Posters - Zoe Saldana as Uhura
Entertainment Weekly - the October 24, 2008 Issue and the October 31, 2008 Issue Covers featuring Zachary QuintoThe answer is...Zachary Quinto! He was first featured on the October 24, 2008 issue's cover next to Chris Pine as the stars of the upcoming film Star Trek and the very next week he was featured as one of the cast members of the television show Heroes on the October 31, 2008 issue's cover. I’m a little shocked that in 18 years the weekly magazine had never before featured the same entertainer two weeks in a row and then they decide to do it with an actor who although his star is definitely on the rise, has really not had much of a career to date. While not significant in any way, it is a pretty cool fact. I just hope this fact isn’t one of his greatest achievements when this great young actor’s career is all said and done.

Star Trek premieres on Friday, May 8, 2009.

The Rebirth of NBC's Heroes

Heroes - Season 3 Villains LogoFor months now the buzz around Heroes’ third season, Villains, has been out of control. Everyone who had already seen the two-hour season premiere could not stop talking about how great it was, and NBC was really emphasizing to fans how accessible this season would be to new viewers. It was almost the anti-Lost marketing campaign, telling anyone who would listen that you don’t need to have watched any of the show’s previous episodes to enjoy this season.

Heroes - Season 3 Cast Photo
I have to say that I was really impressed with what a great job the show did last night in establishing its large cast of characters without bogging down the season premiere and boring loyal viewers. Monday night’s episode actually lived up to the hype and did a good job of introducing a handful of new characters in a way that was not off-putting. Both Heroes and Lost have had a hard time in bringing in new core characters to their respective shows and I think Heroes did a nice job of it Monday night.

Heroes - Zachary Quinto as SylarBest of all, I can honestly say I am really excited to see what’s coming up next. The introduction of future Peter brings a whole new dynamic to the show and I am really jazzed about potential pairing of Noah Bennet and Sylar by the Company as it tries to round up all of its recently released villains. I am a little annoyed that Heroes decided to rip off the recent X-Men Summers brothers (i.e. Cyclops and Havoc) plot line and tease the fact that Sylar may be Peter and Nathan Petrelli’s long lost brother.

Heroes - Season 2 Cast Photo
Heroes - Dania Ramirez as Maya Herrera and Sendhil Ramamurthy as Mohinder SureshBut, all in all I’m happy with the new direction the show has taken. Mohinder is finally being given an interesting storyline, Wonder Twin Maya is no longer a whiny cry baby, Linderman sort of returned from the dead, and Zachary Quinto’s Sylar looks to become a major focal point of the show. I just want to know how the Company plans on keeping Sylar under control.

Heroes - Masi Oka as Hiro Nakamura vs. Brea Grant as the Villainous Speedster DaphneAs for the show’s female characters, the only one that really seems interesting to me anymore is the multifaceted Angela Petrelli. Ali Larter’s Niki Sanders lost my interest long ago and it always seems like Hayden Penettiere’s Claire’s storyline moves at a snail’s pace. Although, she did have some pretty cool scenes with Sylar this week.

Heroes - Ali Larter as Tracy Strauss
Heroes - Milo Ventimiglia as Future Peter Petrelli and Adrian Pasdar as Nathan PetrelliSo, what did you all think? Hopefully most of you saw this week’s season premier as Heroes has definitely gotten out of its sophomore slump and back on track with the same quality storytelling that made Season 1 so popular with television fans. I’d love to hear some other viewers’ takes on the show, so give The Blot a shout or leave a comment.

Heroes airs Monday nights on NBC at 9/8c.

Seth Green and Breckin Meyer Are Close To Joining The Cast Of Heroes

Heroes LogoThere is some really exciting Heroes casting news floating around the web today. EW.com’s Michael Ausiello is reporting that real life best friends “and frequent collaborators Seth Green and Breckin Meyer are nearing a deal to join the cast of Heroes for multi-episode arcs.” (link) How cool is that?

Breckin Meyer and Seth Green Are Set To Join The Cast Of NBC's HeroesAccording to Ausiello’s sources Green and Meyer “will play Atlanta-based comic book nerds aficionados who cross paths with (and perhaps serve as advisors to) one of the Heroes.” (link) It sounds like some stellar stunt casting and I’m excited to see what these two can bring to NBC’s hit super hero drama. While I love Heroes, the show often lacks in the acting department. Hopefully Green and Meyer will be able to breathe some life into whichever established Heroes’ characters they are working with.

Best Friends Breckin Meyer and Seth Green
Robot Chicken Season 1 DVD Box Set CoverOne reason I really like these two actors is that I’m obsessed with their most recent collaboration, Robot Chicken. The stop motion animated show created by Green and Matthew Senreich is amazing, and while the two friends starred in some classic 90’s movies this is by far their best work. Aly can’t stand the show, but I still stop to watch it any time it’s on the Cartoon Network. Green and Meyer voice many of the show’s characters and it is some of the best pop culture humor out there.

NBC 2008 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives - The Office, Heroes, Battlestar Galactica

NBC logoIf you thought San Diego Comic-Con was just comic books and toys you’d only be half right. It’s also a time for networks and studios to unveil their “next big thing” and/or celebrate with the fans the few things they’ve produced in the past year that have become a part of our pop culture. NBC has decided to start the hype early by opening their very own NBC San Diego Comic-Con store, which will be selling limited quantities of their 2008 San Deigo Comic-Con exclusives starting on June 18th.

NBC 2008 San Diego Comic-Con Exclusives
Battlestar Galactica LogoWhile an online site selling Comic-Con exclusives before the 2008 SDCC has even taken place doesn’t exactly make the most sense, it is nice that NBC is giving fans who can’t make it to San Diego an opportunity to purchase some limited edition memorabilia. According to the NBC Store they have four items debuting at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con, all with varying degrees of limited edition runs. First up is a special edition limited run “Bears. Beets. Battlestar Galactica.” Dwight bobblehead & t-shirt for all of the fans of The Office out there. Then there is a Battlestar Galactica Frakkin’ Cylon Toaster, which actually brands your toast with a picture of a Cylon. The advertisement says this toaster will only have one production run, so I’m assuming this item isn’t all that limited.

Heroes LogoLastly, NBC has created two different Heroes items to unveil at this year’s SDCC. The first is the Current/Future Hiro Bobblehead, the first ever two-headed bobblehead which was specifically designed for launch at the 2008 SDCC (i.e. not limited at all). The second Heroes item is a Sylar Special Edition Action Figure, which comes with an exclusive painting designed exclusively for NBC at the 2008 Comic-Con. There were limited quantities of this Sylar Special Edition Figure created, and I would expect this item to sell out quickly between die hard Heroes fans scrambling to get their hands on all things related to the show and action figure collectors who love SDCC exclusives.

NBC Announces Its Fall Series Premiere Dates

I think this is utterly bizarre! We’re not even into June yet and already NBC is announcing when their television shows will debut/return this fall. (link) I can’t think of a reason why they’re doing this now, besides maybe just trying to get a little early publicity while the other networks are off doing other things, like getting ratings. Again, NBC was fourth this year in the television season ratings rankings. (link) I guess at this point any early publicity for their scripted shows is a good thing.
