Mondo continues to unveil its officially licensed exclusives for MondoCon 2019 each day this week. Later this week Mad Duck Posters will be releasing a new print in their Classic Literature Series by artist Jonathan Burton for a book that has become a timeless holiday favorite, Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol! As Burton explained, “This was a great occasion to get into the character studies as described in Dickens’ novel. The concept plays with the idea of these ghosts being in his shadow to haunt him and I like the circularity of the image that leads up the image, in order of appearance, back down to his grave.”

The artist went on to say, “A Ghost Story of Christmas is the novels subtitle and it's the dark and moody atmosphere that I feel is the most fun to concentrate on. Christmas is a time for spooky stories around the log fire and I hope this poster haunts you. As Jonathan explained, “For this poster I wanted to show the emotional attachment of Dr. Frankenstein to his ‘creature’ and how he treats it so sensitively long before he brings it to life. The laboratory is a manifestation of this madness; so beautifully inventive in its imagination. Its painterly lighting is an absolute gift to an illustrator. The Blot is seriously blown away by Jonathan Burton’s MondoCon exclusive movie poster screen print for the original 1931 Dracula film! It looks fantastic, and I can’t get over how Burton was able to perfectly recreate Bela Lugosi’s dangerous, yet elegant, look in the film. It’s still the gold standard that all other Dracula films are held too and this is definitely a fitting tribute to that iconic movie.
