My Name Is Bruce - Bruce Campbell 12 Inch Action Figure

Hot on the heels of the hit indie movie My Name Is Bruce comes an all new 12” figure of cult hero Bruce Campbell. While The Blot has still not seen My Name Is Bruce, those of you that have can now reenact scenes from the B movie with your very own Bruce Campbell action figure from Dark Horse. Best of all, this fully articulated doll is formed from a 3-D scan of Campbell himself.

This amazingly realistic figure comes dressed in an exact replica of the actual Hawaiian shirt worn by Campbell in the movie My Name Is Bruce and includes an array of movie-specific accessories such as two miniature "angel" and "devil" versions of Mr. Campbell (that attach to his shoulders using hidden magnets), a bottle of Shemps Olde Tyme Whiskey, a Bruce collectible toy in melted package, a refreshing Lemon Drink bottle, a miniature of his best selling memoir If Chins Could Kill, and a big honkin' gun with price tag still attached. All of the above comes packaged in a full color, deluxe collector’s box.

The Bruce Campbell 12” figure is not due in stores until August 15, 2009, but you can pre-order this great toy right now from a number of online retailers. Be careful though, because I have seen a wide variety of prices attached to this My Name Is Bruce movie tie-in, some way above its suggested retail price of $49.99. If you act quickly you can pre-order this very detailed figure from Things From Another World.com for the low pre-order price of $39.99.

My Name Is Bruce Final One Sheet Movie Poster and Promo Tour

The Blot is pretty bummed that I missed my one and only opportunity to see My Name Is Bruce in theaters. It was shown in Austin on Sunday night at the Alamo Drafthouse with Bruce Campbell in attendance for the movie’s one and only showing in the state of Texas. But what can you do!?!

Mr. Campbell and the movie have just launched a nation wide My Name Is Bruce promo-tour where fans can view the film and do a spirited Q&A afterwards with the main man himself. There won’t be a signing involved, but if you were hoping to see My Name Is Bruce in theaters then click here to see future tour stop locations and dates.

Bruce CampbellI was lucky enough to attend one of these movie premieres (and an autograph signing) back in 2005 for Campbell’s sci-fi movie Man with the Screaming Brain in Dallas, and the Q&A was definitely worth attending. So if you’re a Bruce Campbell fan who lives near a promo-tour stop, I highly recommend trying to attend a My Name Is Bruce screening.

My Name Is Bruce Movie Trailer and One-Shot Comic Book

I thought I’d give everyone an update on The Blot’s previous post about the upcoming Bruce Campbell movie My Name Is Bruce. A trailer for the movie has shown up on YouTube and it has all of the campy B-movie goodness you’d expect from a Bruce Campbell film. If you are a Bruce Campbell fan then you’ll love the trailer as much as I did, and if you’re not, well maybe you can appreciate the cheesy slapstick humor of it anyway.

Also, if you didn’t recognize the logo in the bottom right hand corner of the My Name Is Bruce teaser movie poster, the movie is being co-produced by Dark Horse Indie, a sister company to Dark Horse Comics. With the Dark Horse connection, a movie tie-in comic book was a no-brainer. So of course hitting newsstands on September 3, 2008 is the My Name Is Bruce one-shot written by Milton Freewater Jr. and with art by Cliff Richards. Best of all the cover is drawn by legendary comic book artist Bart Sears.

Dark Horse’s description of the comic says it is a “companion” book to the indie film, so I assume this means it is purely an adaptation of the movie. I was kind of hoping for some type of comic book prequel to set the stage for the film since the book is released a full month before the movie hits theaters. Who wants to read a comic that reveals the ending to a movie that hasn’t even been released yet?

My Name Is Bruce’s theatrical release is set for October 2008 with its release on DVD planned for January 2009.

My Name Is Bruce Teaser Movie Poster

Bruce CampbellThe Blot’s never been too shy about sharing my adoration for B-movie icon Bruce Campbell. From the first time I watched him play Ash in the Evil Dead trilogy (Evil Dead, Evil Dead II, Army of Darkness) I was hooked. Whether he’s headlining B-movies like Bubba Ho-Tep (which if you haven’t seen yet you really need to rent) or playing bit parts in summer blockbuster movies like the Spider-Man trilogy, Campbell always exudes a “deadpan and somewhat sarcastic comic delivery” that The Blot can’t get enough of. (link) So, when I heard Campbell was making his directorial debut this fall with the release of his new film My Name is Bruce, written by Battlestar Galactica scribe Mark Verheiden,” I got really excited. (link)

Now I have no clue if My Name Is Bruce will be good, but I do know it’ll be one of a kind. The movie centers “around a group of fans who mistaken Campbell for his movie alter ego Ash and kidnap him to help them fight a Chinese war deity.” (link) It sounds like exactly the kind of crazy, “only in movies” type of plot that you can come to expect from a Bruce Campbell B-movie.

My Name Is Bruce Movie BannerYou can currently catch Campbell every Thursday night on USA’s Burn Notice or watch him on DVD in any number of television box sets including instant classics like The Adventures of Brisco County, Jr., Hercules and Xena: Warrior Princess. He has also proven to be an excellent writer with his autobiographical NY Times best seller If Chins Could Kill: Confessions of a B Movie Actor and his fictional 2005 novel Make Love! The Bruce Campbell Way. If all this hasn’t gotten you extremely pumped for the upcoming theatrical release of My Name Is Bruce, scheduled for October 2008 followed immediately by its DVD release in January 2009, then I don’t know what will.
