NYCC 2020 Exclusive SpongeBob SquarePants Iridescent Patrick Star Vinyl Figure by Kidrobot

SpongeBob SquarePants Vinyl Sculptures by Louis De Guzman x J Balvin

Starting in 2019, Louis De Guzman, a Chicago-based visual artist and designer, and Latin superstar, J Balvin, joined creative forces to celebrate SpongeBob SquarePants’ 20 years of influence on pop culture. While De Guzman and Balvin are of different backgrounds and mediums, a shared passion for pop art, design and SpongeBob aligned their creative worlds.

As a final release of their collaborative work, De Guzman and Balvin are set to release the highly anticipated vinyl sculptures of the hit Nickelodeon animated series’ main two characters, SpongeBob and Patrick! Standing at 8” and 10” respectively, these SpongeBob SquarePants vinyl figures will go on sale at LouisDeGuzman.com on July 31st, 2020 at 12pm CST. Each figure is limited to just 500 pieces and will retail for $375. There will not be any additional colorways released of these two SpongeBob figures.

Funko supports It Gets Better with new Rainbow Edition Batman, Hello Kitty & SpongeBob Pop! Pride Figures

Funko supports the It Gets Better Project with new Rainbow Edition Batman, Hello Kitty and SpongeBob Square Pants Pop! vinyl figures! As Funko explained, “The Funko Pride Pop! Collection is a celebration of inclusivity and acceptance. Funko supports the LGBTQ+ community and rejects intolerance and discrimination. At Funko, FUN is for EVERYONE!”

Funko went on to state “We would like to thank our licensing partners, Nickelodeon-Viacom, Sanrio, and Warner Bros. Consumer Products on behalf of DC for their partnership and support in the development of the first Funko Pride collection.” A donation from Funko has also been made to the It Gets Better Project, an organization that uplifts, empowers, and connects LGBTQ+ youth around the globe, in support of this program. The It Gets Better Project inspires people to share their stories and remind the next generation of LGBTQ+ youth that hope is out there, and it will get better.

The Blot is bummed that I totally missed Pobber’s release of the Mono Edition Spongrenade vinyl figure by Nathan Cleary! This is second colorway of the vinyl version of Cleary’s epic mash-up of a grenade with SpongeBob SquarePants. Here’s hoping all of the diehard fans out there of Cleary’s Weapons of Mass Confusion art toys series were able to snag this monochrome colorway.

The Spongrenade may be small but make no mistake, this is a deadly weapon capable of causing mayhem and mass confusion! The Mono Spongrenade vinyl figure stands 4” tall and features some resin parts. It retailed for $50 at the Pobber online store, but it sold out almost immediately upon release.
