Super Mario Bros. “Yoshimera” Kaiju Resin Statue by Mark Pendley x Bottleneck Gallery

Today, Bottleneck Gallery is releasing this epic Yoshimera Kaiju Resin Statue by artist Mark Pendley, which is inspired by Nintendo’s Super Mario Bros. video game franchise. As BNG explained, “We’ve been hard at work cooking up new monsters in the Kaiju Kitchen, and we’re proud to present head chef Mark Pendley’s newest concoction, Yoshimera. Mark, better known as More Horrific, cooked up a Kaiju worthy of a Michelin (super)star, and we’re stoked with how large and inspired the figure turned out.” This is one release any fan of Yoshi or kaiju monsters won’t want to miss out on!

Yoshimera by Mark Pendley is an 11.25” tall hand painted solid cast Super Mario Bros. resin statue. The Regular Edition is limited to 200 pieces and will retail for $145, while the Gold Variant is limited to 100 pieces and will retail for $145. DCon Exclusive Super Metal Mario by iBreak Toys x DKE Toys

DKE Toys will be setting up shop at Designer Con 2016 this weekend in Pasadena, California and bringing with them some awesome new bootleg exclusives! One of those exclusives is by Lisa Rae Hansen aka iBreak Toys, who has made a follow up colorway to her previously sold out Super Metal Mario resin figure. Now in Mario’s traditional colors, this hand cast and hand painted 3.5” carded figure looks fantastic. What The Blot really likes about iBreak Toys’ packaging is that it’s a clamshell that can be easily opened and closed. Limited to just 20 pieces, collectors can purchase it at the DKE Toys DCon booth #812 for $65.

Super Mario Bros. Crossbones T-Shirt Series 2 by Johnny Cupcakes

Johnny Cupcakes has released a second series of awesome limited edition Super Mario Bros. Crossbones t-shirts! There are two killer characters designs in this new release, one for Princess Toadstool aka Peach entitled “Crown Crossbones” and one for the evil Bowser entitled “Villain Crossbones”. JC has also released two mushroom designs, “Mushroom Crossbones” is a homage to the Super Mushroom (also known as a Power-Up Mushroom) and the “Mushroom 1 Up Crossbones” pays tribute to the super helpful green Super Mushroom that gives players an extra life. Like the 1 Up Mushroom in the popular Nintendo video game series, the green “1 Up Crossbones” tee is super hard to find and limited to just 99 pieces.

NYCC 14 Exclusive Brick Basher Custom Resin Dunnys by Erick Scarecrow

ESC Toy and Erick Scarecrow have too many amazing New York Comic Con 2014 exclusives lined up for The Blot to cover here, but you should definitely stop by their NYCC booth #515 to see them all! One of my favorite ESC Toy NYCC releases is this awesome Super Mario Bros. inspired Brick Basher Custom 3” Dunny Resin Figure. As a lifelong Nintendo fan, I still get excited to see custom designer toys that are inspired by Mario and his brother Lugi. For Brick Basher’s inaugural release, Erick has produced four different colorways: Retro, Fired Up, Snowball and Warhol.

A different Brick Basher Dunny colorway will be released each day of New York Comic Con. On Thursday, October 9th, at 12pm EDT, the “Fired Up” Brick Basher will be released. It’s limited to 45 pieces and retails for $15. On Friday, October 10th, at 11am EDT, the “Warhol” Brick Basher will be released. It’s limited to 40 pieces and retails for $20.

“Super Jerkio” Super Mario Print by Jerkface

New York based artist Jerkface just spent a few very cold days outside in Brooklyn painting the epic Super Mario mural you see below. The design is entitled “Super Jerkio”, and is a killer mash-up of Nintendo’s main man with Jerkface’s signature jerks. The Blot loves how this piece looks like the NES froze on Super Jerkio mid jump. That old school 8-bit pixilated look brings back some memories!

While the original “Super Jerkio” painting this mural is based on is no longer available, fans can now pick up their very own “Super Jerkio” print exclusively at the Art Whino online store for $100! Printed on 16"x18.5" archival somerset velvet paper with archival giclee inks, “Super Jerko” comes signed and numbered and is limited to just 30 pieces.

Mario Kart Screen Print “Drifiting Into Darkness” by Russ Moore

Russ Moore’s next entry in his popular Sold-Out Video Game Screen Print Series is the Mario Kart inspired “Drifting Into Darkness” print. The Blot was obsessed with the original Mario Kart video game back in college, so seeing this beautiful image by Moore really takes me back! Mario Kart is now considered a classic Nintendo game and this print, featuring Luigi and Bowser, is all kinds of fun (just like the game).

“Drifting Into Darkness” by Russ Moore is an 18”x24” Mario Kart inspired 7 color screen print. Not only does each print come signed and numbered by the artist, but Moore will also be adding the title to each print by hand in pencil at the bottom! How freaking cool is that!?! The Standard Edition is limited to just 150 pieces, while the Variant Edition is printed on metallic ice-gold Curious brand paper, with metallic gold Lava, and is limited to just 30 pieces. Super7 x Super Mario Bros. “Super Mummy Boy” T-Shirt

Like most of us, the Super7 crew grew up playing Nintendo and the Mario Bros. franchise. In tribute to the classic NES video game series Super7 has transformed its mascot Mummy Boy into a certain raccoon suited plumber! S7’s Mummy Boy is one of The Blot’s favorite figures, and this t-shirt is all kinds perfect. It’s the perfect shirt for when you go back down the warp pipe to your favorite magical mushroom kingdom.

Sleepy Dan T-Shirt Series 1

The Blot can’t remember exactly when I first found out about Sleepy Dan and his fledgling Dallas, Texas based clothing line, but the moment I stumbled upon his website I knew he had something big. And this was before he had even produced his first t-shirt! Sleepy Dan had a dream and a vision for what his new brand could be and I loved the story he was telling. According to his website, the nickname Sleepy Dan describes anyone who is overly motivated but can’t find time to sleep. Often seen tired during the day due to long working night hours, the alias can be used to tease someone for being found yawning, daydreaming, or half awake.

The purpose of the Sleepy Dan brand is to use pop culture art to uncover and unify those who share Dan’s love of sleep. And if you know The Blot then you know I love my Zzzzz’s, not to mention all things pop culture! The brand insignia is an alarm clock surrounded by lightning bolts, which symbolizes the energy of the alarm ringing to wake us up and get our day started. The brand message “You Snooze, You Lose!” gives the clear understanding that too much sleep will inhibit progress and personal growth.

Sleepy Dan Series 1 features some really fun designs, including “Sleep Attack,” the brand’s first illustrated bedroom character. But what I really like about this collection are all the fun little details Dan has included in each design. My favorite is “Sleepy Bowser”, which is a homage to the main villain in Nintendo's Super Mario video game series. You may not be able to tell this from the photo, but this 8-bit version of Bowser is made up of tiny Sleepy Dan alarm clock insignias. How cool is that!?!? I also love the “Sheep Icon” t-shirt, which combines Dan’s alarm clock insignia with the one animal everyone counts when desperately trying to fall fast asleep.

Threadless “Pop Culture” Soda Can T-Shirt

This newest pop culture inspired design by Threadless definitely puts the “pop” in soda pop! As you can tell, "Pop Culture" takes the minimalistic design craze that is sweeping the nation and applies it to coke cans (or beer cans depending on your preference). Each minimalistic designed can represents a key figure in pop culture. I would have liked this t-shirt a whole lot more if I hadn’t seen a million different versions of it over the past 6 months, but that’s also probably why the shirt got printed in the first place. They’re all fairly easy to identify, except maybe the first two. Although once you read who they are you’ll see it right away.

Super Mario Bros. Screen Print “1UP” by David Flores

Is it me or does everything look just a little better after David Flores applies his stained glass style to it? Flores takes everyone’s favorite Italian plumber and turns him blue in “1UP,’ DF’s newest screen print. “1UP” features a blue Mario flying through the air with angel wings, and I’ve gotta say, the Nintendo icon looks killer flying against an all black background.


The Super Mario Bros. screen print “1UP” is available now through SomethingIll.com and retails for $50 each. This three color screen print measures 16”x20” and has an edition size of 50.
