The Blot mentioned his love for Amanda Visell’s Pink Elephant vinyl figure last month, so you know I was excited to learn about this spooky new colorway being released just in time for Halloween. The Vampire Edition Pink Elephant with Drunky McSkunky is a Munky King exclusive, which ships on November 3rd. The 6 inch figure is currently available for pre-sale here for $70.00. If you are a Visell fan like The Blot don’t sleep on this very cool Pink Elephant colorway because there are only 400 available and are sure to sell very soon.

The Blot Says… Turns One Today!

Today, October 15th, 2008, is the 1 Year Anniversary of The Blot Says… and I really can’t believe it’s already been a year since I decided to start this blog. The site has come a long way in a short amount of time and I’d like to thank all of the readers out there who have followed The Blot over these past 12 months.


I’m happy to say our readership has been steadily increasing throughout the year, which means not only are people finding the site but are enjoying it enough to come back. So thanks to everyone for stopping by and here’s to year #2!


I’m thinking about adding to or changing up the layout of The Blot Says… in honor of the site’s first anniversary, so when I get some time we'll see what I can come up with.

USA Renews Psych and Burn Notice

The Blot can’t even start to explain how happy this news makes me! The USA Network has renewed two of my favorite TV shows, Psych and Burn Notice, for additional seasons of 16 episodes each. (link) This will be the fourth season of Psych and the third for Burn Notice. These are two of the most entertaining shows on television, and if you like great ensemble casts chock-full of quirky characters then you will definitely enjoy these hour-long series from USA.

Both shows are currently on mid-season hiatuses, but “are scheduled to kick off the second half of their current seasons in January (although Psych will air a special Christmas-themed hour on Nov. 28).” (link) The Blot thanks USA for renewing both Psych and Burn Notice, and I look forward to following the wacky exploits of Shawn, Gus, Michael, Sam and Fiona for many episodes to come.

#5 Texas Beats #1 Oklahoma At The Red River Shootout in Dallas, TX

Man what a great day Saturday was for The Blot. I wanted to blog about the Red River Rivalry on Friday but was afraid I’d jinx the game. Instead the Longhorns came out and gave the kind of gutsy, gritty performance you don’t typically see out of a Mack Brown led team. This was hands down the biggest win of Brown’s career without Vince Young and it could not have come at a better time. What’s more shocking is that this is the first time the Texas Longhorns have been ranked #1 in the AP poll during the season in 24 years. (link)


The Longhorns and the Sooners fought tooth and nail, but between Offensive Coordinator Greg Davis finally putting together a winning game plan and Colt McCoy’s amazing performance, the Longhorns left Dallas and the Cotton Bowl victorious. The next day Texas was anointed number one in the nation by both the AP and Coaches poll as well as all of the computer polls that are factored in to the BCS standings.


While the official first BCS doesn’t come out until next week, Texas is in good shape to be ranked #1 in that poll as well, as long as the team is able to stay focused and beat 11th ranked Missouri in Austin on Saturday, October 18th. The Blot had been praying Missouri would beat Oklahoma State last Saturday night so that the Horns might play two #1 teams in a row. But Mizzou ultimately lost that game at home. Nevertheless, next week’s game is still a must win for Texas and The Blot will be there in attendance to help cheer the Longhorns to victory Saturday night in Austin.

Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe: Kollector’s Edition Artwork by Alex Ross

More information on MK vs. DCU keeps coming out every day. If you haven’t been to the video game’s official website WorldsCollide.com lately you should go check it out. The website has recently been re-launched with an all new layout and much better graphics.


The other exciting news coming from Midway is that the company will also be releasing a special North American Kollector’s Edition version of the game. Best of all, the Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe Kollector’s Edition will feature a cover painted by legendary comic book artist Alex Ross. Ross is one of The Blot’s favorite comic book artists and his paintings are legendary for their realistic look and feel.


Along with the fighting game, the Kollector’s Edition of MK vs. DCU will include a removable print by Ross and a 16-page comic book published by DC Comics and drawn by Mortal Kombat co-creator John Tobias. The comic will chronicle the shocking, universe-shattering events that lead up to the in-game story mode of MK vs. DCU.

Fans will be able to finally play this exciting game next month, November 2008, when MK vs. DCU is finally goes on sale.

Guns N’ Roses’ Chinese Democracy Official Release Set For November 23rd

Hell may have finally frozen over. The long rumored and much maligned fifth GNR album from Axl Rose is finally going to see the light of day. After working on it for over 10 years, Rose has finally signed off on Chinese Democracy’s release. This news is probably a shock to many in the music industry and GNR fans after numerous promises of a new Guns N’ Roses album have come and gone with no album ever hitting store shelves.


But have no fear, this time it sounds like a done deal. Especially due to the involvement of retail giant Best Buy. GNR’s Chinese Democracy will “be a Best Buy exclusive and will be available Sunday, Nov. 23, rather than the usual Tuesday.” (link)

Truth be told, some of the tracks that briefly leaked a few months back were actually pretty good, which surprises The Blot considering how M.I.A. Rose has been for over a decade. That being said, I really have no interest in Axl or the Slash/Duff-less Guns N’ Roses anymore except to see what kind of train wreck this all turns into. If there is one thing I can be sure of it is that Axl will somehow screw his return to the spotlight up.

Huck Gee - Limited Edition Bootleg #6 Figure

Today, Friday October 10, 2008 at 12 PDT sees the next limited edition release in Huck’s Bootleg series. Strangely enough he is skipping from Bootleg #2 all the way to Bootleg #6. What does all this mean? Who knows, as we won’t find out what figure is in the mysterious Bootleg #6 box until UPS drops it on someone’s doorstep.


The Blot’s guess is that it is a clear resin version of Huck’s Skullhead #6 metal figure paperweight, which he released through Fully Visual earlier this year. That is the only reasonable explanation I can come up with for the jump in Bootleg numbers from number 2 to 6. Plus it just makes since with the corresponding number 6s.


There will only be 25 Bootleg #6 figures made and each package comes signed, numbered and stenciled. Each figure is $100 and limited to one per customer. If you’re interested in the Bootleg #6 figure get ready because you only have a few hours until the little guy goes on sale! Twilight Final One Sheet Movie Poster

Can someone, anyone, explain to me the popularity of this movie/book!?! To be honest I had never even heard of Stephenie Meyer‘s series of young adult vampire/romance novels until the fourth and final book, Breaking Dawn, came out in August. Obviously I’m not the Twilight series’ target audience being that I'm male, but as a purveyor of all things pop culture you would have thought I would have at least heard of these novels.


Ever since the movie was announced girls around the country have been going nuts over every minute detail of the film to the point that it is reaching Harry Potter type levels of anticipation. To add to the madness of the increasing scrutiny of the Twilight feature film is the drama surrounding Meyer’s next scheduled novel, Midnight Sun, “a retelling of the events of Twilight written from [vampire] Edward Cullen’s perspective” (link) The unfinished manuscript was leaked online, which infuriated the author to the point where she has decided to suspend the project indefinitely. Let's just say neither Breaking Dawn nor Midnight Sun met the high expectations of the Twilight faithful.

Regardless of whatever happens to the aforementioned Midnight Sun manuscript, fans can still look forward to the first of what I am sure will be four feature film adaptations of the Twilight series. Twilight debuts in theaters on November 21, 2008.
