Star Trek One Sheet Enterprise Movie Poster

Even after all of the ads and all of the trailers, The Blot still doesn’t know how Paramount and J.J. Abrams are going to take Star Trek mainstream again. I think years and years of bad PR have left a permanent stigma on this once proud sci-fi franchise. I do like this new Enterprise theatrical one sheet movie poster though and am pretty excited to see the prequel in theaters.

Star Trek One Sheet Enterprise Movie Poster
So far my only complaint is the Enterprise’s bridge looks like a giant Mac computer. But Apple is slowly taking over the computer industry, so who knows. Maybe in the future Apple changes its focus to the development of starships with warp capabilities. It might even one day change its name from Apple to Starfleet.

Star Trek opens in US theaters on May 8, 2009.

kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tints

The kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tints The Blot mentioned a few months ago are finally being released this week. I had no idea when I first heard about the kaNO x Argonaut Resin collaboration how limited edition these awesome see through Moneygrips would be. I figured at the very least there would be a set of each colorway. But as it turns out there is not going to be a Moneygrip Tints phase 2 or phase 3, there are only the 4 one of a kind pieces seen in the pictures below. So once these sold out they’ll be gone forever.

The kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tints - Green, Yellow, Blue & Red
For this collaboration there was one tinted Moneygrip produced in red, blue, yellow, and green. There was supposed to be a purple tinted Moneygrip, however the mold broke so it's not happening.

The kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tints and Their Hand Painted Packaging
Each kaNO x Argonaut Resin Moneygrip Tint figure comes in a box painted and signed by kaNO and will be sold for $125.00. The figures go on sale this Wednesday, April 8th at 12pm EST at The Argonaut online store.

WrestleMania XXV Recap

So the weirdest thing happened. Evidently my txts from last night were going through to Twitter, but they weren’t showing up on my Twitter profile or here on The Blot Says…. But, evidently they were showing up on my twitter profile’s rss feed. I have no idea how that happened or why that worked, but I’m going to have to look into it before SDCC. I guess it was a good idea to have a test run this weekend after all. Maybe I just need to stop using Twitter widgets and use the RSS feed as it looks more dependable. Anyway, here are my tweets from last night in their entirety (more news on WrestleMania XXV to follow).

The 2009 WWE Hall of Fame Inductees - Ricky The Dragon Steamboat, Cowboy Bill Watts, Koko B. Ware, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Howard Finkel, Terry Funk & Dory Funk Jr. and The Von Erichs
The WWE’s 2009 Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony was actually really good, and I am definitely more excited now about tomorrow night’s big event. The highlight of the evening had to be the Honky Tonk Man’s black tie jumpsuit, I have always and will always love that guy. No matter how old he gets the Honky Tonk Man still exuberates cool!

The 2009 WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony Stage Before The Event Began
It was also really great seeing so many of professional wrestling’s living legends show up for WrestleMania weekend. Seeing grapplers like Rowdy Roddy Piper, Sgt. Slaughter, Greg “The Hammer” Valentine, Bobby “The Brain” Heenan, Mean Gene, Harley Race, Hacksaw Jim Duggan and Jimmy Hart really remind me of my youth.

Johnny Cupcakes x The Karate Kid T-Shirts

A couple of weeks ago Johnny Cupcakes hosted another special screening of an 80’s classic, and this time it was The Karate Kid (which I might add is also another personal favorite of The Blot’s). (link) To commemorate the event JC created a very cool The Karate Kid/Cobra Kai t-shirt entitled "Karate Cakes." The shirt was inspired by The Karate Kid, but was designed after the dreaded Cobra Kai karate dojo. The Blot is a sucker for all things Billy Zabka/Johnny Lawrence, so a shirt sporting the phrase “Sweep The Leg Johnny” is right up my alley.

Johnny Cupcakes x The Karate Kid - Karate Cakes Limited Edition Gold Shimmer Ink T-Shirt
Johnny Cupcakes made two different versions of Karate Cakes, a highly limited edition version with gold shimmer ink which sold out immediately and the standard edition which is up for sale now at the Johnny Cupcakes online store. The LE gold shimmer ink had a run of just 60 shirts and can be seen in the picture above.

Johnny Cupcakes x The Karate Kid - Karate Cakes T-Shirt
The standard Karate Cakes t-shirt is printed on black with yellow lettering, but it still sports the al important quotes “Sweep The Leg Johnny” and “No Mercy.” They sell for $35.99 and come in both guys and girls sizes. Unfortunately all that’s left is a Guys small, sorry! I was a little late on this post, but I had to talk about these awesome shirts nonetheless.

The 25th Anniversary of WrestleMania

WrestleMania XXV - The 25th Anniversary logoWhen The Blot announced last week I was going to schedule a trial run of my live blogging through Twitter this weekend at the biggest sports entertainment event of the year, the speculation ran rampant. It seems like I unintentionally threw everyone off with my March Madness post. My buddy Sam (who lives in Detroit) even called and asked why I hadn’t told him I was coming up to Michigan for the Final Four. You see, while the Final Four is definitely the biggest sporting event this weekend, it’s not the biggest “sports entertainment” (a phrase popularly coined by the WWE) event of the year. That title goes to WrestleMania, the be all and end all event of professional wrestling.

WWE - WrestleMania XXV Headliners WWE Champion Triple H and Randy OrtonNow as you may all remember The Blot doesn’t really follow professional wrestling anymore, but when I heard WrestleMania XXV was taking place in my own backyard I knew I had to go. As a kid I would have killed to go to WrestleMania and the 10 year old lil’ Blot inside me would have never forgiven the adult I’ve become if I didn’t go. Plus, I had the opportunity to go in college during professional wrestling’s resurgence in the late ‘90s and turned it down. Worried that passing up the WWE’s signature event a second time might mean I never end up going to a WrestleMania, I called my buddy Threefron and made plans to attend the 25th anniversary event.

WWE - WrestleMania XXV in Houston, Texas on April 5, 2009 logoSo here I am, on the verge of attending my first WrestleMania and I have no idea what to expect. With this being the 25th anniversary of WrestleMania the WWE should be pulling out all the stops, including bring back more than a few surprises (rumors continue to circulate about the return of Hulk Hogan to the squared circle). Regardless, Houston is abuzz with talk of WrestleMania. Some analysts even predict the week of WrestleMania should bring a significant economic boost to the city in the upwards of $50 million dollars. (link)

WrestleMania XXV - 25 Years of WrestleMania
As of now I am only planning on attending WrestleMania XXV Sunday night, but I might be convinced to attend a session of the WWE’s four day fanfest WrestleMania Axxess or Saturday night’s marquee event the WWE Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony. If so, you can be sure I’ll be blogging live courtesy of Twitter. Anyone interested in knowing what’s going on at the event without having to pay your hard earned money to purchase the show on PPV should stop by The Blot Says… or Twitter.com/TheBlotSays to follow the action in real time.

WrestleMania XXV takes place this Sunday, April 5, 2009 at 7/6c only on Pay-Per-View (or here at The Blot Says… if you don't mind your news in 140 characters or less)

ER Series Finale Airs Tonight

ER LogoIt’s finally here, ER’s 15th and final season finale. The Blot has been equally looking forward to and dreading watching one of my favorite shows come to an end. You just never know what you’re going to get with a planned series finale, but I have a feeling it’s going to be a good one with lots of returning cast members from the show’s rich history scheduled to appear.

ER: The 15th and Final Season
ER - The Beginning of the End - Noah Wyle as Doctor John CarterI’m just hoping there are no more deaths of beloved characters, something ER has come to be known for over the years. For some reason the writers off ER just can’t let exiting characters ride off into the sunset, they always have to kill them off in some cockamamie way. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit if a bomb went off in Chicago’s County General while all of the show’s past and present characters were in the building. That way the tradition of killing off the character of an actor exiting the show would still hold true.

ER - I Feel Good - John Stamos as Dr. Tony Gates & Scott Grimes as Dr. Archie Morris
NBC’s farewell to ER begins at 8/7c with an hour long 15 Year Series Retrospective followed immediately by the two hour ER Series Finale at 9/8c. I hope everyone shows up for the party!

Fully Visual - Modern Hero Metal Cast Figure by MAD

One of The Blot’s all time favorite characters in the world of designer vinyl is MAD’s Modern Hero. He’s popped up in a few different forms over the years (Dunny, TV Head, SAM, Sharpest Sprayer, Headphonies) and now we can add another one to the list. Fully Visual is releasing a bust like metal cast figure of MAD’s Modern Hero.

Fully Visual - Modern Hero Metal Cast Figure by MAD
The 3.5”x2.25” Modern Hero metal cast figure was released last week, but don’t worry. It is still available here at the Fully Visual online store for $99 each. As with most Fully Visual metal cast figures, Modern Hero comes blind boxed and is limited to a run of just 100 figures (99 silver editions and 1 hidden gold chase edition).

Lost - He’s Our You

Lost - He’s Our You - Naveen Andrews as Sayid JarrahI think at this point in the show it is safe to say that Lost episodes, like last week’s “He’s Our You,” which focus squarely on Sayid are some of The Blot’s favorite episodes. This season’s Sayid-centric episodes have been even better because they also prominently feature Benjamin Linus. Ever since it was revealed how intertwined Sayid and Ben’s off island exploits were, the rich interplay between these two stoic yet complicated characters has been mind blowing. Who knew way back in Season 2 when Sayid was torturing Ben in the hatch how far their relationship would come? In many ways Ben is now finally getting his revenge for their first encounter by torturing Sayid, albeit psychologically instead of physically. I can honestly say I never know where their storyline is going to go next.

Lost - He’s Our You - Michael Emerson as Ben Linus & Naveen Andrews as Sayid JarrahIt’s weird, for all Sayid has been through he never stops punishing himself for the crimes of his past. I almost feel like Sayid didn’t want Sawyer to help him escape because he felt like he deserved whatever punishment was coming his way for the death’s he caused off the island. Then again, it could have all been a smokescreen for Sayid’s true mission…to kill Ben Linus. From the moment the young Benjamin Linus introduced himself to a captive Sayid one scene kept playing over and over again in my head. It was the scene where Sun was holding Ben at gun point and Linus asked Sayid for help. Sayid just turned to him and said if I ever see you again I’ll shoot you myself.

Lost - He’s Our You - Josh Holloway as James Sawyer Ford & Naveen Andrews as Sayid JarrahAs we learned last week, Sayid is truly a man of his word and the first opportunity he had to shoot Ben he took it. Now I don’t think there’s any chance Ben is actually dead (as in gone and buried), but it does tie in nicely to Ben’s pronouncement earlier this season that he had been “born on the island.” Now we all know he was actually born off the island and brought there by his father, but maybe he was killed by Sayid and the island resurrected him like it has done for so many other characters. This could be one explanation for his claim of being born on the island. Or, maybe his near death experienced opened his eyes to his and the island’s true potential. What I do know is that like a phoenix rising out of its own ashes, Benjamin Linus cannot be stopped.

Lost - He's Our You - Evangeline Lilly as Kate Austen & Elizabeth Mitchell as Juliet BurkeI feel like this theory actually builds upon my theory from last week in that the actions the time lost Losties are taking now in the past are the reason many of the things we’ve witnessed in the future have taken place. If this is true, Sayid’s shooting of Ben may be the catalyst for the many horrible things Ben does in the future. It’s almost like a self-fulfilling prophecy, where the actions Sayid takes in the past to prevent his future from occurring actually causes it. I’ve always wondered how Ben knew to recruit Sayid in his plans for revenge. Maybe it was because Ben always knew Sayid was a killer at heart because he witnessed Sayid’s handiwork firsthand as a child.
