Cherry Blossom Destro Screen Print by Jacob Borshard

As a huge G.I. Joe fan, The Blot was very excited to find out about Jacob Borshard’s newest art print “Cherry Blossom Destro.” International terrorist arms dealer or slave to the torments of unrequited love? Who says a modern chrome-headed man can’t be both? This stunning seven color, artist pulled screenprint from Jacob Borshard’s ’80s Ukiyo-e’ series casts Destro in a moment of tender contemplation among fresh sprung cherry blossoms in his garden. This print is a follow up to Jacob’s amazing “The Great Pony Rebellion” and “The Sinking of the Oruko Ship.”

If you were curious about what the poem on “Cherry Blossom Destro” says, it reads:

Cherry Blossom
Speaks to Destro
‘Tell Baroness
You love her!’

“Cherry Blossom Destro” was printed using platinum-tone metallic ink, has a subtle watermark Kimono pattern, and a split fountain on Destro’s cherry blossom clipping. The Standard Edition signed and numbered “Cherry Blossom Destro” screenprint is printed on pearlescent metallic paper, retails for $30, and is limited to just 25 prints. There is also an already sold out Super Premium Edition “Cherry Blossom Destro” which was printed on Japanese Rice paper and limited to just 8 prints. All three of Jacob’s ‘80s Ukiyo-e’ series prints, including “Cherry Blossom Destro,” can be purchased through Nakatomi Inc.’s online store here.

Watchmen Mez-Itz Series 1 by Mezco Toyz

Yes, you read that right. Mezco Toyz has a new line of Mez-Itz vinyl figures based on the film adaptation of Alan Moore’s critically acclaimed graphic novel Watchmen in the works! I have no idea how Mezco acquired this licensing deal with DC Comics, but it’s pretty exciting that they did. Watchmen Mez-Itz Series 1 features Rorschach and Dr. Manhattan as you’ve never seen them before, as chunky cute designer vinyl figures.

Mezcoy Toyz has some very exciting things in the works for its line of Mez-Itz designer vinyl figures, and at the top of that list is its upcoming Beetlejuice Mez-Itz! Based on the character made famous by actor Michael Keaton in Tim Burton’s classic 1988 film, the Beetlejuice Mez-Itz figure is everything you'd want in a figure based on the ghost with the most!

Lost Themed T-Shirts - Polar Beer, Missing, & What Would John Locke Do?

This is it, the beginning of the end! We’re just a few hours away from the season premiere of Lost’s sixth and final season. Needless to say, I’m full emotions right now…both excitement and sorrow as one of The Blot’s favorite television shows prepares to leave the airwaves forever. With that being said, I want to make sure all the Lost fans out there have everything they need to watch the show’s 6th season in style. So here are a few of my favorite Lost themed t-shirts currently available on the web.

WWJLD? by The Teevil Initiative

TeeFury - Lost Themed T-Shirt WWJLD? (What Would John Locke Do?) by The Teevil Initiative
The Lost t-shirt above is entitled "WWJLD?" (What Would John Locke Do) and is available for today only from Teefury.com for just $9! This shirt’s title says it all and I love it! Plus it features Season 1 John Locke in all his bad ass glory. It’s amazing how much my opinion of this character has changed over the years. Sometimes I actually miss the silent hunter who had a soft spot for young Walt and Boone.

Polar Beer by Ian Leino

Lost Themed T-Shirt Polar Beer by Ian Leino
This second Lost shirt is entitled "Polar Beer" and was created by Ian Leino. Originally featured on Teefury.com, Ian has now made his awesome Lost inspired t-shirt available for a second time directly from him at online store for $18. According to Ian, the "Polar Beer" t-shirt was “created entirely by hand with scratchboard. This design squarely inhabits the junction of cryptic LOST mythology with classic beer label design, executed in a vintage, hand-tooled style rarely seen in t-shirt design.”

While the shirt may not scream Lost to casual observers, upon second inspection it’s a pretty awesome tribute tee. And if you love the shirt’s Beer Station logo as much as I do, you can also purchase a Beer Station pin from Ian here.

Missing by Glenn Jones

Glennz Tees - Lost Themed T-Shirt Missing by Glenn Jones
"Missing," designed by New Zealand based artist Glenn Jones, is one of the best Lost inspired t-shirts on the market. Inspired by old school milk cartons and their missing persons advertisements here is your chance to sport a t-shirt with a Dharma Initiative milk carton on it! I can only imagine what kind of nefarious experiments were taking place at the Cow Milking Station. And on the side of the carton is a missing persons ad looking for the passengers and crew of Flight 815. You can purchase "Missing" directly from Glenn at GlennzTees.com for $19.95.

Lost airs Tuesday nights at 9/8c on ABC.

Ted, relax. I’m already 6 for 6.

Yeah, I was lunching at Tavern on the Green,
I started chatting up this Swedish super model.
Next thing you know,
I’m playing a day game in the back of horse drawn carriage.

Giddey…What…Up!

“Awesome! What really happened?” - Ted

I had lunch at a Staten Island Chili’s
and banged a drunk hair dresser.

Are you happy Truthie McGee?

Damages Season 3 Television Posters

The Blot was really excited to start watching FX’s critically acclaimed drama Damages again when its third season premiered last Monday night. While I’m sure Damages Season 3 will end up being pretty good, all the flash forwards and flashbacks in the show’s first episode had me thinking I was watching a poorly written episode of Lost. Every single scene featured some sort of time jump. It got so bad I couldn’t figure out what, if anything, was taking place in the present.

Damages Season 3 Television Poster
While Damages’ flash forwards have always been an intricate part of the show, I hate to see such a wonderfully acted drama relay too much on gimmicky plots. And, I worry that so many time shifts in the show’s first episode ended up pushing away Damages’ already dwindling viewership. With that being said, the season premiere’s final scene was a humdinger of a twist, even if everyone saw it coming from a mile away. I’m already intrigued by this season’s new storyline, and can’t wait to see what lies in store for Martin Short as shady attorney Leonard Winstone. Plus, who doesn’t want to see more of Damages’ quintessential villain, Arthur Frobisher, played by the eternal Ted Danson?

Damages Season 3 Canadian Television Poster
Damages, staring Glenn Close Rose Byrne, airs Monday nights at 10/9c on FX.

Star Trek Kirk & Uhura 100% Be@rbrick Set

The Blot has no idea why it took this long for a Medicom Toy x Paramount Pictures collaboration on a line of Star Trek vinyl figures in honor of the franchises’ successful reboot, but I’m glad it happened! The look of the Star Trek 100% Be@rbrick Set, featuring James T. Kirk and Uhura, is based on the of the feature film by J.J. Abrams, and will hopefully be just the first of many Star Trek themed Kubrick and Be@rbrick figures. There has already been a Spock 100% Be@rbrick figure and two more are in the works, but more on that later in the week!

Star Trek 100% Be@rbrick Set by Medicom Toy - James T. Kirt and Uhura Be@rbricks
The Medicom x Paramount Star Trek 100% Be@rbrick Set featuring Kirk and Uhura will go on sale mid 2010 and will retail for somewhere around $25-30.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations - Prague

Tonight’s episode of Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations features Tony traveling to Prague, the capital and largest city of the Czech Republic. The Blot doesn’t know much about Prague, but evidently the citizens of Prague drink more beer per person than any other place in the world. How crazy is that!?! Now if that doesn’t get you excited about a trip to Prague, I don’t know what will.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on the Travel Channel
The episode begins with a brief history of the Czech Republic, including an overview of how Communism stunted the local cuisine. Tony then shares a meal with one of the city's most innovative chefs. They dine on some traditional Czech foods, including spreadable stinky cheese, pig tail, and marinated beef in beer. All, of course, accompanied with a beer. Tony visits the chef's restaurant later that night for a "taste of the old, made new.”

Next, Tony heads to a local brewery 2 hours outside of Prague to meet with travel writer, and beer nerd, Evan Rail. This scene includes riveting (yes riveting) beer history and Evan falling through the floor of the brewery, all while managing to save his beer. Bourdain then meets up with 21-year old art student David Cerny for some interesting art conversation. After that, Tony hits the streets of Prague for some very unique street food. You can check out Prague’s finest street fair, like sausages and fried cheese sandwiches with mayo, in the video clip above. With things like that on the menu, you know Tony had a good time gorging himself in the Czech Republic.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations airs Monday nights at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.

Sonic Youth Concert Poster by Olly Moss

Olly Moss, famous for his Threadless t-shirts and Lost ARG screen print “Locke’s Secret,” released his third official screen print today! It is Moss’ concert poster for Sonic Youth’s January 7, 2010 tour stop at the House of Blues San Diego, CA, and it is a great example of Moss’ old school style that fans have come to love. The UK artist recently relocated to Los Angeles, so hopefully this means Moss will be releasing many more screen prints in the months to come!

Sonic Youth Concert Poster by Olly Moss
Olly’s 01/07/10 Sonic Youth concert poster went on sale today, January 29th, at 2pm CST at PostersandToys.com. Moss’s signed and numbered Sonic Youth concert poster is 18”x24” and is limited to just 160 prints. Best of all, every print comes with a free “Ban The Klan” sticker also designed by Olly Moss.

TRU Exclusive Iron Man 2 Mighty Muggs

Thanks to Mighty Muggs Forum member rastaman619, we now have confirmation that Hasbro has in fact released those awesome looking Iron Man Might Muggs from SDCC ’09 as a tie-in to the upcoming live action feature film Iron Man 2! (link and link). Sadly, the Iron Man 2 Mighty Muggs Wave only includes two figures, War Machine and Iron Man Mark VI with metallic paint, but they both look pretty sick!

Toys R Us Exclusive Iron Man 2 Mighty Muggs Wave - War Machine & Iron Man Mark VI with Metallic Paint Mighty Muggs
The Iron Man Mark VI Mighty Mugg is basically an updated version of the 2008 SDCC exclusive Iron Man Mighty Mugg, but unlike the Optimus Prime Mighty Mugg and the 2009 SDCC exclusive Optimus Prime Mighty Mugg, there are a ton of differences between these two figures. Plus, the SDCC exclusive Iron Man is on the pricey side, so this is a nice alternative for collectors who missed out on the first Mighty Mugg Iron Man movie tie-in. As for the War Machine Mighty Mugg, he looks awesome! The Blot loves his shoulder cannons, and I can’t wait to get my hands on one!

The Iron Man 2 Mighty Muggs Wave is a Toys R Us exclusive and is already hitting store shelves on the west coast. The Blot might have to stop by my local TRU here in Houston this weekend to see if they’ve made their way to Texas yet. I believe the War Machine Mighty Mugg is rarer than the Iron Man Mark VI figure, but both will retail for around $11.99 each.
