Barneyism of the Week - Disposable Cell Phones

“Eriksen residence, Marshall speaking.” - Marshall

Hey Marshall.

“Barney, what number is this?” - Marshall

I’m up on burners playa!

Too many crazies have my old number,
so now I’m all about disposable cell phones.

I’ll use one for a while, have my fun.
Then dump it and get a new one.

Then I’ll do the same with my phone.

Captain America: The First Avenger Teaser Movie Poster & Trailer

Captain America: The First Avenger Teaser One Sheet Movie Poster

Before Marvel unveiled its first trailer for Captain America: The First Avenger last night during the Super Bowl, they released the film’s first one sheet movie poster. The teaser poster’s not The Blot’s favorite, but the image is quite striking. I think between the new poster and the teaser trailer (seen below), I’m starting to feel good about this movie. Am I the only person who thinks Chris Evans might actually be able to pull off a live action Captain America?

Captain America: The First Avenger will hit theaters this summer on Friday, July 22nd.

First Look: Flashpoint Wave 1 Action Figures by DC Direct

First Look: Flashpoint Wave 1 Action Figures by DC Direct - The Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman & Cyborg

Talk about DC Direct being on the ball! DC Comics hasn’t even released the first issue of its upcoming company summer crossover Flashpoint, and here they are already promoting its new line of Flashpoint specific action figures. Evidently DC Direct has been working closely with Flashpoint writer Geoff Johns’ concepts and artist Andy Kubert’s designs to bring you four awesome figures based on the characters central to Flashpoint’s storyline.

Flashpoint Wave 1 consists of The Flash, Batman, Wonder Woman and Cyborg. While The Flash looks kind of lame, how sick are the Cyborg and Wonder Woman figures? I don’t know about you, but these figures have The Blot even more excited about this "what if" type storyline. I might even pick up the books after seeing these character designs. Look for Flashpoint Wave 1 action figures in stores everywhere this summer.

WOODSPRITES 4" Wood Figures by Pepe

WOODSPRITES 4 Inch Wood Figures by Pepe

Thanks to Twitter, The Blot’s been able to learn about some really great artists I might not have been able to before. One of those very talented people is swiss designer Pepe and his Smallstuff Studio. Pepe does some incredible things with wood, including these 4” wood figures. WOODSPRITES are handcrafted by Pepe out of Sapele and Maple wood, and each sprite is unique in its shape and wood texture. So every WoodSprite is a true one of a kind figure!

This limited edition release includes 12 WOODSPRITES figures. Each has a natural beewax finish, an iron-branding on its backside with the artist’s signature, and is individually numbered on the bottom. These awesome wood figures will go on sale at the Smallstuff online store today, Monday, February 7th, at 19:00 CET. Each figure retails for $50 each.

Family Guy Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot

Family Guy Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot

Kidrobot is teaming up with prolific animator Seth MacFarlane to bring you TV’s all-American but totally twisted and dysfunctional family known as the Griffins and their favorite New England neighbors. Here to make us laugh and cry, each of the 15 blind boxed Family Guy mini figures comes with an insert card and accessory – and begs the question, “Which FGKR will you get?”

Family Guy Mini Figure Series and Packaging by Kidrobot

The Blot’s not exactly sure why Kidrobot is advertising these as “collectible art,” if anything they’re “collectible art toys” but even that’s a stretch. Then again, Family Guy is a great show and I think they actually did a good job transforming the Griffins and Co. into 3D figures. So I’ll let it slide…this time!

The Family Guy Mini Figure Series by Kidrobot will hit Kidrobot stores, Kidrobot.com and select retailers on February 17. Each blind box containing one 3 inch FGKR vinyl figure will retail for $9.95.

Dievas 8 Inch Dunny by Nathan Jurevicius

Dievas 8 Inch Dunny by Nathan Jurevicius

Scarygirl creator Nathan Jurevicius re-imagines the divine Dievas of Lithuanian lore for his first ever 8″ Dunny. As a soul-escorting owl, this black-flocked Dunny with vinyl belly plumage, bright geometric eyes, orange beak and gradient-tipped wings shepherds spirits on their eternal journey. This is Kidrobot’s second flocked 8” Dunny in the past six months and both, in The Blot’s honest opinion, have been homeruns! I can’t wait to see this beautiful vinyl figure in person, because if the pictures are any indication the colors on Dievas are incredible.

Dievas 8 Inch Dunny and Packaging by Nathan Jurevicius

The Dievas 8” Dunny by Nathan Jurevicius will be available at Kidrobot stores, Kidrobot .com and specialty retailers beginning February 17. This black owl has a limited edition run size of 1500 pieces and will retail for $75 each.

Earth Wolf Vinyl Figure Prototype by Josh Herbolsheimer & Medicom

Earth Wolf Original Painting and Vinyl Figure Prototype by Josh Herbolsheimer

There are some big things in the works for Super7’s own Josh Herbolsheimer. Brian Flynn announced on the Skullbrain forums that Josh, the creator of the Rose Vampire, and Medicom are collaborating on a new standard size figure, the Earth Wolf! As you can tell from Josh’s Earth Wolf painting above, this is a very intricate and exciting character that should translate very well to 3D form.

Custom Totem Moola by Reactor-88 & Argonaut Resins

Reactor-88 x Argonaut Resins Custom Totem Blue Tint Moola

The Blot was in awe the moment I saw this amazing custom Totem Moola by Reactor-88! The Kalua Moola is an awesome resin figure based on a design by Lord Mesa and hand crafted by Argonaut Resins. The base figure for this custom is a blue tint Moola, which was utilized magnificently in Reactor-88’s totem design. I really like the way he left a good amount of the transparent resin showing through the totem design giving this custom a really unique look!

The Reactor-88 x Argonaut Resins Totem Moola was available for purchase at the Reactor-88 online store for $125, but it sold out in no time flat! Keep your eyes peeled to Reactor-88’s blog and flickr page for more amazing customs.

DC Universe Mini-Mez-Itz Series 1 2-Packs

DC Universe Mini Mez-Itz Series 1 2-packs by Mezco Toyz - Batman, The Joker, Sinestro, Green Lantern, Mongul & Superman

Mezco Toyz will be including even more characters from the DC Universe in its new line of Mini-Mez-Itz vinyl figures! Mezco’s first wave of DC Universe Mini-Mez-Itz 2 packs will include a Blue and Gray Batman and The Joker, Green Lantern Hal Jordan and Sinestro, and Superman and Mongul. What’s weird is Mezco's decision to include Mongul as Superman’s villain. In The Blot’s eyes Mongul is really a Green Lantern villain at this point. I would have much rather seen a Mini-Mez-Itz of Lex Luthor, Braniac or even Bizzaro included with Superman.

Mezco’s DC Universe Mini-Mez-Itz vinyl figures stand 2 inches tall, feature five points of articulation and will be packaged in 2-packs together on a blister card. You can purchase each 2-pack for around $10 or all three 2-packs of Wave 1 for around $30. While DC Universe Mini-Mez-Itz Series 1 is not scheduled to ship until late July 2011, you can preorder all 6 figures directly from Mezco Toyz here.
