Mo-Larr vs Skeletor SDCC 2010 Exclusive Masters of the Universe Action Figure 2 Pack

The Blot knows a lot of Masters of the Universe fans up in arms over Mattel’s latest San Diego Comic-Con exclusive, but I think it’s kind of cool if only because it’s an unofficial cross-over with one of my favorite television shows. Mo-Larr was originally featured in a Season 2 episode Adult Swim’s Robot Chicken, in which he chased down Skeletor and relieved him of an impacted wisdom tooth without any anesthesia.

The SDCC 2010 MOTU action figure 2 pack will retail for $40 and includes a Skeletor action figure featuring a new head with a missing tooth, a Havok Staff, a Power Sword and a Half Power Sword. The Mo-Larr, Eternian Dentist, action figure comes with five assorted dental tools, including a drill and floss. While this Masters of the Universe set might not be for everyone, you have to admit the packaging is pretty funny!

I assume the Mo-Larr action figure two pack will be available on MattyCollector.com after Comic-Con if it doesn’t sell out in San Diego, but that’s a pretty big if. I guess only time will tell…

Random Nature x MAD Pins

As you all know, The Blot’s a huge fan of MAD’s work. So, I was pretty stoked to learn last night that the Kansas City artist was reteaming with Random Nature on a brand new project. It’s a line of 1 inch MAD pins and from the picture below, they look pretty cool.

Random Nature x MAD Pins
MAD posted this sneak peek of his upcoming line of MAD pins by Random Nature on his flickr account. The Random Nature x MAD Pins are made of brass and a powder coat of color. Each MAD pin measures just over 1" tall, comes in 3 styles and a bunch of colors. More details to come as they are announced!

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations - Food Porn 2

In tonight’s episode of No Reservations, Anthony Bourdain revisits one of the show’s most popular topics: Food Porn! Tony’s never been shy when it comes to expressing his true feelings toward, well, pretty much everything, but this is especially true when it comes to good food. There are countless of similarities between food and sex that can be explored, and Tony, with the help of a few friends including the illustrious Ron Jeremy, is ready to gear up for an even steamier round two. Whether it leaves you feeling satisfied or guilty (or both), there is undoubtedly still plenty of luscious, tantalizing and downright sexy ground to be uncovered.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations on the Travel Channel
There are clearly some dishes that never seem to get old. First up, Tony heads to Hanoi, Vietnam for more wet and steamy Pho – the dish he craves above all others – complete with hot noodles, magical broth distilled from bones and marrow and a choice of meats. Then, Tony visits Bar Boloud, with Daniel Boloud, to sample charcuterie. Tony gets his fix by sinking his fork into some blood sausage, headcheese, duck liver pate, and rabbit terrine.

According to Tony, even the mention of cured meats is a surefire way to make any chef weak in the knees. At Salumeria Rossi in New York, Cesare Casella’s meats are always ready to go, and Tony goes to town on mortadella with pistachio, smoked speck, porketta, lardo and a variety of prosciuttos. Tony then has a euphoric meal at Sushi Yasuda with Chef Yasuda himself.

Next, Tony ravenously digs in to a few cuts of steak with Michael Lomanaco at Porterhouse. And what better way to wash away the shame afterward than sipping some tongue-tantalizing libations! Tony experiences the allure of such cocktails as the Manhattan, the Negroni and the Sidecar, all mixed by Dale Degroff. Next up, Tony visits RUB BBQ in New York City for a nice, meaty barbecue session. Then, he waxes poetic with Jacques Torres about the effect of chocolate on the male and female minds and libidos. After all, chocolate contains the same chemical produced by the brain while one is falling in love, making it a surefire aphrodisiac that works every time.

Afterwards, Tony sits down with Frank Bruni and, once again, Daniel Boloud at DBGB to wolf down four courses of thick and fatty fresh sausages, the sexiest of all, in Tony’s opinion, being a Thai sausage. When it comes to seafood, the best fishy food porn comes from Chef Michael White’s Marea, where White himself is able to lure Tony into temptation with the forbidden – seafood with cheese. Other morsels include sea urchin with lardo, marlin with caviar, razor clams with fennel, and octopus with bone marrow. Afterwards, Tony and Alexander Petrossian join for what can be described as anything but a cheap date and indulge themselves with caviar and champagne.

Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations airs Monday nights at 10/9c on the Travel Channel.

SDCC 2010 Exclusive Claire Littleton LOST Bobble Head

The 2nd San Diego Comic-Con 2010 exclusive form Bif Bang Pow! and Entertainment Earth is the Claire Littleton Lost bobble head. But don’t confuse this bobble head with the sweet and innocent Claire we all remember from Seasons 1-5 of Lost. No, this is the scary, crazy Claire from Lost’s sixth and final season! Not only does Crazy Claire have that twisted look in her eye and disheveled appearance, but she also comes toting her trusty rifle and that scary looking squirrel baby made from a rotting skull and the fur of dead animals.

San Diego Comic-Con 2010 Exclusive Claire Littleton LOST Bobble Head by Bif Bang Pow! and Entertainment Earth
With the release of a Season 6 Claire Littleton bobble head, I’m starting to think Bif Bang Pow! knows a little more about Lost than the rest of us! They really threw me for a loop when they went with the squirrel baby instead of ole’ turnip head himself, Aaron. The Crazy Claire Lost bobble head stands 7 inches tall, made of resin and features superb detail that’s accurate to the mega-popular television series Lost.

This SDCC 2010 exclusive is a limited edition of 1,500 pieces and can be yours for just $14.99. If you’re going to San Diego Comic-Con you can pick up the Claire Lost bobble head from the Entertainment Earth booth #2343. Kidrobot Sneak Peek - Dunny Series 2010 Checklist and Ratios

Kidrobot’s next series of 3 inch Dunny series has officially leaked, and it looks killer (if I do say so myself). I know a lot of fans are disappointed that the series is made up heavily of more established artists, but come on! Just look at those ratios…I about jumped out of my chair when I realized some of my favorite designs were going to be so easy to get. Huck’s a 2/25, Amanda Visell’s a 2/25 and Doktor A is 1/25. I thought for sure Kidrobot would make Dok A’s mechtorian figure at least a 1/100.

Kidrobot - Dunny Series 2010 Checklist and Ratios
(click on the photo above for a more detailed look)

My only concern at this point is figuring out a way to get my hands on the MAD and Jesse Hernandez Dunnys. Anything MAD is always a must get, and Jesse’s design is sick. The Blot’s also been a huge fan of Sket One’s Ketchup and Mustard custom Dunnys, so to finally see his Ketchup figure released as a production piece is pretty exciting (plus its ratio is 2/25). KR's Dunny Series 2010 is set to be released this summer, more details to come soon.

The artists included in Kidrobot’s Dunny Series 2010 includes: Huck Gee, Kozik, Sket One, MAD, Doktor A., Amanda Visell, Jesse Hernandez, Michelle Valigura, The Beast Brothers, MCA, Esther Kim, Travis Cain, CW, Damarak the Destroyer, Sneaky Raccoon, Shelterbank, Tizieu, Triclops Studio, and Aya Kakeda.

Pit Fighter Nibbles Custom Munny by Huck Gee

Earlier this week, Huck Gee announced the release of a second hand painted custom Lance Corporal Nibbles Munny. This Friday, April 16th, sees the release of Pit Fighter Nibbles, which is a prequel of sorts to the UTCMC Dread Squad member we met last month.

Pit Fighter Nibbles Custom Munny 10 Figure Set by Huck Gee
Long before he joined the Dread Squad, Nibbles was a renowned pit fighter on his home planet of Naoya 13, born into the interspecies favelas of Taurenos, the sprawling industrial port city. He survived the brutal street life as much with his wits as with his muscle, playing his foes against one another like an elaborate game of chess. His natural born skills and savage upbringing made him a perfect fit for the underground pit fighting circuit. He flourished, against all odds, climbing his way to the top of the heap and into the legends of underground fame.

Pit Fighter Nibbles Custom Munny by Huck Gee
But as is bound to happen, no matter how many steps he tried to stay ahead of his enemies, his luck eventually ran out. Nibbles crossed one person too many and found himself hunted down by the elite military police, jailed in a maximum security isolation wing, and staring down the barrel of politico assassination allegations. He most likely would've perished there if not for Sgt. Vasquez stumbling across him and offering him the opportunity of a new life as a member of the UTCMC Dread Squad...but that story is for another day.

Pit Fighter Nibbles Custom Munny Vinyl Figure by Huck Gee
Pit Fighter Nibbles goes on sale this Friday, April 16th, at noon PDT in Huck’s online store. Each figure comes signed and numbered by Huck, and includes all of the accessories shown above. Only 10 Pit Fighter Nibbles vinyl figures were created and each figure will retail for $650.

The Johnny Cupcakes Houston Tour Stop - The Blot meets Johnny!

The Johnny Cupakes Suitcase Tour Houston Tour Stop at Crave Cupcakes
So, Monday night was the highly anticipated Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour stop in Houston, Texas. The Blot got to Crave Cupcakes a few hours early to scope out a place in line and ended up hanging out with some really cool people from around Houston as we all waited for the arrival of Johnny Cupcake and Co.

Can you spot The Blot!?!

Hint: I make a lot of background appearances in the video!

To be honest, I had no idea what to expect. While JC's tour stops have consistently been drawing huge crowds, you just never know. There wasn’t a huge crowd when I first arrived (I was probably one of the first 30 people in line), by the start of the event there were easily 300-400 people all screaming Johnny’s name. Being in the front, I was able to see JC interact with his fans from the moment he arrived, and to be honest, it was pretty inspiring. Johnny’s such a nice and humble guy, and he really went out of his way to speak with each and every one of his fans.

Johnny Unloading The Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour Van
Unloading The Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour VanThe Johnny Cupcakes 2010 Suitcase Tour was created so Johnny could have personal meet-ups with fans from around the country and celebrate the humble buildings of his brand, and that was definitely accomplished here in Houston on Monday night. Johnny prides himself on building a community through his brand and that was never more apparent than the hours he spent sitting on a bench outside of Crave talking with fans, sharing stories, signing autographs and performing magic tricks for the youngsters in attendance. In many ways, the pop-up store inside Crave was secondary to Johnny’s primary goal of bringing his extended family together to celebrate their love for the "Cupcake and Crossbones."

Johnny Cupcakes About To Swing At A Fan's Johnny Cupcakes T-Shirt Piñata
But don’t let me fool you, everyone was hoping to get their hands on the limited edition gear Johnny was selling inside Crave. Luckily, Aly and I got inside early and had our pick of the merchandise. There were six tour exclusive t-shirts, and other tour exclusives like buttons, hats, ties and posters. We got tees and a couple buttons, and quickly headed outside to chat and take pictures with Johnny.

The Johnny Cupcakes Suitecase Tour Exclusive T-Shirts
Besides meeting a lot of cool fellow JC fans, there were two main highlights of the night. The first was meeting Houston's own Bun B, one half of the legendary hip hop group UGK, who came out to take part in the event. But the real highlight of the event came when I introduced myself to Johnny, only to find out he reads The Blot Says…! How cool is that!?! I totally geeked out after he said that, but I tried my best to keep myself composed. If I wasn’t already, that news would have definitely made me a Johnny Cupcakes fan for life.

The Johnny Cupcakes Suitecase Tour Cupcake Chronicle and Tour Exclusive Buttons
There are still a ton of tour stops left on the Johnny Cupcakes Suitcase Tour, and I highly recommend everyone attend one if Johnny's coming to your city (even if you’re not a diehard Johnny Cupcakes fan). You can find a listing of JC’s remaining tour stops here.

Star Trek Inspired Screen Print “Generations” by Mr. Brainwash

If you’ve been following the raging Mr. Brainwash debate online, then you know the art world doesn’t quite know what to make of this enigmatic French artist. Whether you love or hate MBW, you can’t deny he’s provocative. While The Blot doesn’t love everything he does, I can appreciate his passion for pop culture, and nothing personifies that better than his Star Trek inspired screen print “Generations.”

Star Trek Inspired Screen Print Generations by Mr. Brainwash
“Generations" features the crew of the Starship Enterprise (Kirk, Spock, Bones, Sulu and Uhura), a member of the Gorn species (a race of humanoid reptiles) and some other random people in a retro, old school looking photo. Mr. Brainwash did a similar print with Star Wars characters, and while they’re not everyone’s cup of tea I really like them!

“Generations” is a 22”x30” seven color screen print on archival art paper. The print includes gold and silver metallic inks, comes signed and numbered by the artist, and also includes his thumb print on the back. This Star Trek themed screen print goes on sale Tuesday, April 13th, at 12pm PST at the Mr. Brainwash online store. MBW is only creating 75 of these retro styled prints, and even at $300 a pop they will almost assuredly sell out in a matter of moments.
