SDCC 14 Exclusive Last Man Standing Gabriel Pop! Vinyl Figure

The Blot’s been a huge fan of Dan LuVisi’s art since he first started doing covers for one of my all time favorite comic book series, DC Comics’ Secret Six. From that I was introduced to his epic Last Man Standing: Killbook of a Bounty Hunter (or LMS) graphic novel, which is truly beautiful to see. Never in a million years did I think I’d see Funko release a POP! vinyl figure of Gabriel, a genetically engineered soldier who is the star of LuVisi’s LMS graphic novel, much less as a San Diego Comic-Con 2014 exclusive. How cool/random is that!?! LuVisi must have some pretty big fans in the Funko offices.

Each San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Gabriel Last Man Standing Pop! Vinyl Figure stands 3.75” tall and comes packaged in a full color displayable window box. Collectors can pick one up exclusively at the Funko SDCC booth.

The Blot heads to The Houston Con 2014 this August!

Are you feeling down stuck at home while thousands of people are stuck in long lines and huge crowds at San Diego Comic-Con 2014 this weekend!?! Well have no fear, there’s an equally awesome comic-con nearby, possibly even in your city! Amazing conventions are popping up everywhere and you might just not know about them. If you live in Texas you should definitely make plans to come in to Houston for the all-new The Houston Con! This exciting new convention (which merged with the former Space City Con), will be taking place at the Hilton Houston North August 8-10 and has a really great line-up of celebrities, comic book artists and so much more!

If you’re a fan of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, Houston’s very own Jason David Frank (the original Green/White Power Ranger) will be at the convention!!! Along with Jason, the show will be hosting fellow MMPR alumni Erin Cahill, Alison Macinnis, Hector David Jr., Brad Hawkins and Jason Faunt! But that’s not all, The Houston Con will also be hosting Battle Star Galactica’s Richard Hatch and Kate Vernon, and Game of Thrones’ Jame Cosmo! There’s also a big contingent coming from MTV’s Teen Wolf that includes Dylan Sprayberry, Eaddy Mays, Melissa Ponzio and Mason Dye.

Personally, The Blot’s the most excited about The Houston Con’s awesome line-up of coming book artists! They’re bringing legendary Image creator Whilce Portacio, who is celebrating 30 years in the comic book industry, along Ale Garza (Wonder Woman, Teen Titans), Ken Lashley and Andrew Dalhouse. This is definitely one comic-con not to miss!

The Houston Con takes place August 8-10th and tickets are now available for as low as $25 for a one day pass here. The Blot hopes to see you there!!!

SDCC 14 Exclusive Star-Lord Guardians of the Galaxy Screen Print by Francesco Francavilla

The Blot is beyond jealous of all my fellow Guardians of the Galaxy fans who scored this beautiful Star-Lord screen print by Francesco Francavilla yesterday at Mondo’s San Diego Comic-Con booth! I love that Francesco has been working with Mondo lately because his rich, dark designs really pop as screen prints. Plus who better to design a Marvel comic book themed movie poster than an amazingly talented comic book artist?

The San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive “Star-Lord” by Francesco Francavilla is a 24”x36” Guardians of the Galaxy screen print. Limited to just 150 pieces, fans could have purchased this at the Mondo SDCC booth #835 yesterday for $75. Fingers crossed a few of these (or at least a variant of it) pops up on the Mondo online store after Comic-Con!

SDCC 14 Exclusive Avengers: Age of Ultron Concept Art Movie Posters by Marvel - Hawkeye, Quicksilver & Vision!

Marvel has unveiled the next two posters in their awesome San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie Poster Set featuring concept art for the film! While the stars of these two posters are Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye and Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Quicksilver, all anyone’s talking about is the surprise character in the background of the Quicksilver poster. No, your eyes aren’t deceiving you, that’s the world’s first look at Paul Bettany’s Vision!!! Oh man. How awesome is that!?! The Blot can’t wait to see more. I expect sometime today we’ll get Avengers 2 posters for Thor and the Hulk. Then we'll be able to complete the image below of this epic battle between The Avengers and Ultron. Has anyone actually scored one of these posters at Comic-Con?

SDCC 14 Exclusive Avengers: Age of Ultron Concept Art Movie Posters by Marvel - Captain America & Black Widow

Here are Marvel’s next two posters in their awesome San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Avengers: Age of Ultron Movie Poster Set featuring concept art for the film! These posters feature Chris Evans as Captain America and Scarlett Johansson as Black Widow in a huge, epic battle against an army of Ultrons. As you can tell from the picture at the bottom of this post all of these posters (which are being given away for free at Comic-Con) connect to form a giant image from Avengers 2. We’re just missing posters for Thor, The Incredible Hulk, Hawkeye and Quicksilver (and possibly Nick Fury) before we can complete the image.

SDCC 14 First Look: DC Comics Greg Capullo Batman Designer Series Wave 3 Action Figures

At San Diego Comic-Con 2014, DC Collectibles gave the world its first official look at the next wave of their popular Greg Capullo Designer Series Action Figures! The Scott Snyder and Capullo Batman series is The Blot’s favorite thing to come from DC Comics’ New 52 soft reboot, and these figures do an amazing job capturing the excitement Greg’s art brings to comic book. The Greg Capullo Batman Designer Series Wave 3 will include Zero Year Batman, Batgirl, Two-Face and Commissioner James Gordon.

Each action figure in the DC Comics Greg Capullo Batman Designer Series toy line stands approximately 6.7” tall, features multiple points of articulation, and comes packaged on a blister card. Wave 3 is not expected to hit store shelves until January 2015, but you can pre-order all four figures from Entertainment Earth for $22.99 each here.

SDCC 14 Exclusive Gotham Television Poster by FOX

After Guardians of the Galaxy, it seems like everyone’s talking about FOX's Gotham at San Diego Comic-Con 2014. I don’t know if this Batman prequel will actually be good or not, but from all the ads and trailers The Blot’s seen I expect it to be fantastic! FOX has done an amazing job with these set of Gotham character TV posters they're giving away at San Diego Comic-Con 2014, and I love this one featuring the show's entire cast. There’s the good guys, Gordon, Bullock and little Bruce Wayne, and then the soon to be bad guys, Fish Mooney, Catwoman, Poison ivy, The Riddler and The Penguin. Gotham’s coming to show us how the heroes and villains of the DC Universe came to be the colorful characters we all know and love today, and I can’t wait!

SDCC 14 Exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy Rocket Raccoon & Groot Prints by Kevin Tong, Randy Ortiz & Mike Mitchell

Today at Comic-Con, Mondo will be releasing three awesome San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive Guardians of the Galaxy prints featuring everyone’s favorite Marvel renegades, Rocket Raccoon and Groot! First up is this awesome Rocket Racoon variant screen print by Kevin Tong! It’s limited to just 150 pieces and will retail for $65. Since this print is a variant, I assume the standard edition will see a wider release via the Mondo online store either today or after SDCC.

Next up is this beautiful Groot screen print by Randy Ortiz. Doesn’t Groot look so peaceful and beautiful? You’d never guess he was such a force of destruction! This print is limited to 300 pieces and will retail for $45.

Last but not least is this adorable Mike Mitchell print entitled “Tree Hugger” featuring Groot and Rocket! Don’t they look so freaking happy? This print is limited to 225 pieces and will retail for just $35. All three prints will go on sale at a random time today, Friday, July 25th, at the Mondo SDCC booth #835.

SDCC 14 Exclusive “The Joker” Batman ‘66 Screen Print by Jason Edmiston

While The Blot doesn’t know much about this release, Jason Edmiston’s San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive “The Joker” Screen Print (featuring Cesar Romero from Batman ’66) looks fantastic! If I didn’t know better I’d say it was a photo. Edmiston really knocked this one out of the park. My favorite aspect of it is how you can still make out Romero’s signature mustache that he refused to shave to play The Joker. The Comic-Con 2014 Exclusive The Joker screen print by Jason Edmiston went on sale at Mondo’s SDCC booth #835 last night during Preview Night and retailed for $45 each. No word on whether it has sold out or not.

SDCC 14 Exclusive Avengers NOW! Toon Tumbler Pint Glasses by Marvel - Captain America, Iron Man & Thor

The biggest pre-San Diego Comic-Con 2014 comic book news has been Marvel’s Avengers NOW! event, which will see Sam Wilson (aka The Falcon) become the new Captain America, a new female Thor emerge to replace the Thor we all know and love, and Tony Stark go back to his “evil” ways as the Superior Iron Man. To cash in on the hype, Marvel will be releasing some pretty cool San Diego Comic-Con 2014 Avengers NOW! Tumblers, each one spotlighting a different Avenger. But clearly we all want the pint glass with the new Captain Falcon…er…Captain America right!?! That new costume looks amazing! Obviously these changes won't be permanent, but it'll be fun to see these characters in the spotlight for a while.
