DarthWok Ewok Star Wars Resin Figure by UME Toys

Last weekend UME Toys dropped a surprise new colorway of their popular GeekWok Star Wars inspired resin figure, and it is freaking epic! Meet DarthWok, the cute yet evil cousin of GeekWok. This Darth Vader wannabe shows just what would have happen if an Ewok Jedi knight had turned to the dark side. This awesome resin figure sports a custom sculpted belt and chest plate, and includes a resin cast helmet modified to allow his ears to pop through.

Wicket’s evil nerdy cousin retailed for £85 at the UME Toys online store, but sold out almost immediately upon release. Bring on the next GeekWok colorway!

Red Dawn Screen Print by Jay Ryan

If there’s one artist The Blot doesn’t spotlight enough here on TheBlotSays.com it would be Jay Ryan. I absolutely adore his simple, often adorable, artwork style. I can’t lie, seeing his name attached to a movie poster for the 1980s Cold War film Red Dawn was certainly a surprise. But boy did he knock this one out of the park! I love the propaganda feelings invoked by this design, and really dig his letter work in the American flag background. I’m also glad to see one of Jay’s signature bicycles in the foreground. Kudos to Mondo for their outside of the box thinking to pair such an accomplished artist with this cult classic film.

Úlfhéðinn Screen Print by Tyler Stout

Tyler Stout dropped an exciting bombshell yesterday with the surprise release of his newest art print, Úlfhéðinn. Pronounced ulfhedinn, with some sass added, this screen print is all about everything and nothing…about life, and fish, and birdmen. Finally! The Blot has been anxiously awaiting this new line of Firefly Pop! Television vinyl figures ever since Funko teased it almost a year ago. The Blot’s a huge fan of Joss Whedon’s sci-fi western, and it’s great to see Firefly/Serenity live on in Funko’s Pop! and ReAction figure toy lines. Firefly Series 1 includes Captain Mal, Jayne, Zoe, Wash and Kaylee. “Lost my love, lost my land. Lost the last place I could stand. There's no place I can be, since I've found Serenity. And you can't take the sky from me.”

Each Firefly Pop! vinyl figure stands 3.75” tall, features one point of articulation and comes packaged in a full color displayable window box. This afternoon Grey Matter Art continues its awesome Buck Rogers in the 25th Century Screen Print Series with this awesome television poster by James White (aka Signalnoise)! What’s really cool about this release is White’s fond memories of the TV show. As White explains, his “most vivid memory was the first lunchbox my parents bought me when I started school, with an action-packed depiction of Buck, Tweeky and Deering. Later today Mondo will be releasing three movie posters for the first three films in the Rocky franchise! And let’s be honest, those are the only three Rocky films that really count, right!?! Originally available at the Alamo Drafthouse's Sylvester Stallone Birthday Celebration, Mondo will be releasing their remaining copies online at a random time today, Tuesday, August 19th. This release includes Rocky by Cesar Moreno and Rocky II and Rocky III by Matt Taylor.
