If there’s one artist The Blot doesn’t spotlight enough here on TheBlotSays.com it would be Jay Ryan. I absolutely adore his simple, often adorable, artwork style. I can’t lie, seeing his name attached to a movie poster for the 1980s Cold War film Red Dawn was certainly a surprise. But boy did he knock this one out of the park! I love the propaganda feelings invoked by this design, and really dig his letter work in the American flag background. I’m also glad to see one of Jay’s signature bicycles in the foreground. Kudos to Mondo for their outside of the box thinking to pair such an accomplished artist with this cult classic film.
