DCon 2018 Exclusive Devilman Sutfin Variant Vinyl Figure by Mondo x Unbox Industries

Oh man, the exciting Designer Con announcements just keep on coming! Mondo has announced that it’s teamed up with artist Mike Sutfin to create a very special artist edition colorway of his Devilman vinyl figure for DCon. Is this purple colorway awesome or what!?! Produced by Unbox Industries, this epic, officially licensed Devilman vinyl figure is based on Sutfin’s killer Devilman screen print released by Mondo back in 2015.

The Designer Con 2018 Exclusive Devilman Sutfin Variant Vinyl Figure stands 12” tall, features five points of articulation, and is cast in soft vinyl. The Sutfin Variant will be released at 2pm on Saturday, November 17th, at the Mondo DCon booth #2219. Mike will even be in attendance to sign fans figures! But that’s not all… Mike has also worked his magic on a super limited run of 1-off custom Devilman vinyl figures, which he’s hand painted himself. These will also be available on Saturday at the Mondo booth.

Later today, Mondo will be releasing exclusively the third colorway of Mike Sutfin and Unbox Industries’ epic Devilman vinyl figure! Based on Sutfin’s killer Devilman screen print released by Mondo back in 2015, this epic vinyl figure was produced by Unbox Industries utilizing a combination of traditional sofubi style manufacturing and injection molding to perfectly capture the nuances of Mike's unique art style. Go Nagai's iconic Devilman has never looked so cool!

The Mondo Exclusive Devilman Blue Variant Vinyl Figure by Mike Sutfin and Unbox Industries stands 12” tall, features five points of articulation and is cast in soft vinyl. Packaged in a full color printed box and limited to just 400 pieces, collectors can pre-order this blue Devilman exclusively at the Mondo online store for $160. This fantastic new colorway will go on sale at noon CDT today, Tuesday, May 22nd.

Mike Sutfin’s epic 3D take on Go Nagai's iconic Devilman is back in a killer new colorway! Check out this insane Glow in the Dark Red Edition Devilman, which originally debuted a few weeks back at the Shanghai Toy Show. To produce this super detailed figure, Unbox Industries utilized a combination of traditional sofubi style manufacturing and injection molding to perfectly capture the nuances of Mike's unique art style.

The Glow in the Dark Devilman vinyl figure by Devilman stands 32cm tall, is cast in soft vinyl and comes packaged in a printed box. Collectors can pre-order this new edition now at the Unbox Industries online store for $155.

Devilman Vinyl Figure by Mike Sutfin x Unbox Industries

Unbox Industries’ final release of 2017 is also one of The Blot’s favorite releases of the year! After over a year of teases, check out the final version of Mike Sutfin’s epic take on Devilman!!! In 2015, Mondo and Mike Sutfin joined forces to conceive a collaborative print project inspired by the legendary Go Nagai's Devilman franchise. This resulted in a fantastic screen print released at MondoCon 2015. Fast forward to 2017, Unbox took over the creative reins to push Mike's original design into a three-dimensional soft vinyl figure under Sutfin’s watchful eye, which was eventually granted approval by Go Nagai himself.

For this release, the Unbox team pulled together a variety of production techniques to create this unique interpretation without forfeiting the artist’s original concept. By utilizing a combination of traditional “sofvi” style manufacturing and injection molding the team captured the nuances of Mike's style perfectly.

First Look: Devilman Vinyl Figure by Mike Sutfin x Unbox Industries

Check out the insane final sculpt of Mike Sutfin’s upcoming Devilman vinyl figure to be produced by Unbox Industries and released later this year. It looks absolutely amazing! Many of you will remember that Mondo actually released a Devilman screen print by Sutfin at MondoCon 2015. Well as it turns out, that print was actually based on Mike’s Devilman turnarounds for this very project (seen below)! It’s pretty crazy to learn just how long this figure has been in development.

As Mike explained on Facebook, “soon after the drawings were approved by Go Nagai's team in Japan, the idea came about to turn these drawings into a full color, two-side screen printed poster.” This ultimately became the screen print released at MondoCon 2. What a small world! The Blot can’t wait to see more of this exciting new officially licensed figure.

Without a doubt, The Blot’s favorite panel of MondoCon 2 was the Toys and Collectibles Panel hosted by Mondo’s Creative Director of Toys/Collectibles Brock Otterbacher! Not only did we get an in depth look at how Mondo’s amazing collectibles are produced, but we got TONS of sneak peeks of upcoming releases. By far the coolest part of the discussion was the panel walking us fans through the process of the creating of Mondo’s soon to be released Godzilla statue based on the movie poster designed by Phantom City Creative. I was seriously blown away by everything that went into this statue’s creation! But I know that’s not why you’re here…it’s for all the great photos The Blot took from the panel, including tons of never before seen concept art for officially licensed releases from properties like DC Comics, Adventure Time, Legend of Korra and more!
