MAD*L Phase 4 Variant Colorway Set by MAD

For the first time ever MAD has created a variant colorway of each design in a wave of 5” MAD*L vinyl figures. How great is that!?! Just take my money now MAD! The MAD*L Phase 4 Variant Wave includes a Monochromatic Modern Hero, a White MAD Ape and a Blue MAEMAEMON. And what really makes this news great is these figures aren’t chase variants mixed in with the standard Phase 4 releases and sold blind box style. Instead, these three variant figures will be sold as a set exclusively at MadToyStore.com!

The MAD*L Phase 4 Variant Set goes on sale at 12pm CDT this Friday, May 30th, at MAD’s online store for $100 per set. Each MAD*L Phase 4 variant design is limited to just 100 figures, and is only available as part of this 3 piece set. So that means there’s just 100 signed and numbered sets available. Don’t sleep on this killer release!

It’s hard to believe, but 2014 is the 10 year anniversary of MAD’s MAD*L vinyl figure! In honor of this huge milestone MAD has big things in store for the MAD*L platform, including a new series of 5” figures. After teasing it for months, check out the official line up of MAD*L Phase 4: the Modern Hero, MAD Ape and MAEMAEMON! Each figure stands 5” tall, is limited to just 400 pieces and will retail for $35 each. These awesome figures will be showing up in designer toy stores worldwide soon, but in the meantime you can purchase all three Phase 4 MAD*Ls as a set for $100 at the MAD Toy Store.

The Modern Hero has appeared on a ton of my other toys, customs and artwork. For the MAD*L version, I wanted to step up the design to more than just a graphic treatment, so I included a removable top hat and of course his oversized Big Money chain.

MAD Ape is another design I’ve used over the years on other products and customs. Given how much people love the design I had to include it in the series.

MAEMAEMON is the newest addition to the series. This design was originally created by my daughter Mae. As with all the other ‘MONs in the MAD*L brand, it’s based on my kids. So when it came time to design her figure she jumped right in and started coming up with ideas.

First Look: MAD Ape “Phase 4” Mad*l 5” Vinyl Figure by MAD

MAD’s unveiled the third (and possibly final) design in his upcoming Phase 4 Mad*l wave and it’s the popular MAD Ape! After numerous MAD Ape customs and three production 3” Dunnys, the MAD Ape takes over the 5” Mad*l platform. And is that a chase White MAD Ape in the background!?! First Look: Modern Hero “Phase 4” Mad*l 5” Vinyl Figure by MAD

The Blot can’t even explain how excited I am that MAD is finally releasing a production Modern Hero 5” Mad’l! MAD’s Modern Hero character and the Mad’l platform are a huge part of my personal designer art toy collection. I’ve been collecting both since pretty much the first day I was introduced to this crazy little corner of the art world. So for a production Modern Hero Mad’l to finally see the light of day is a pretty big deal! I consider it a personal grail that I can’t wait to add to my collection.

After a much too long hiatus, MAD’s popular 5” Mad*l vinyl figure returns with a fourth wave of three designs entitled Phase 4. The Modern Hero is the 2nd design in this exciting new Mad’l wave, with the previously seen rainbow monster MaeMaeMon the wave’s 1st design. What could be next!??!

First Look: MaeMaeMon “Phase 4” Mad*l 5” Vinyl Figure by MAD

After a much too long hiatus, The Blot’s favorite vinyl figure is finally coming back into production! MAD’s popular 5” Mad*l returns (hopefully soon) with a fourth wave of three designs entitled Phase 4. It’s hard to believe it’s been 3 years since the last store exclusive 5” Mad*l was released and 6 years since MAD released Phase 3. The Blot’s been jonsing for new production Mad’ls and I can’t wait to get my hands on these!

The first Phase 4 Mad*l design to be unveiled is the rainbow monster MaeMaeMon. What’s really cool about this figure is it is actually based on a monster drawing by MAD’s oldest daughter Mae (hence the name). Mae was 5 when she originally drew that monster drawing and boy does it look awesome on vinyl! Looks like we’ve got a toy designer prodigy on our hands.
