The Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by Florian Bertmer x Mondo

The Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by Florian Bertmer x Mondo

The Blot was so bummed I missed out on Mondo’s release yesterday of this epic new movie poster for The Return of the Living Dead by artist Florian Bertmer! I love the punk rock vibe Florian gave to his movie poster with its old school flyer look, and Bertmer killed it with his take on the film’s iconic Tarman (originally designed by artist William Stout).

“The Return of the Living Dead is arguably one of the best films about the living dead that exists. Director Dan O’Bannon gave us a full-on punks meet (and fight / get eaten by) zombies party film ... that is also low key responsible for adding the undead’s unending desire for brains to zombie lore.” – Mondo

The Return of the Living Dead by Florian Bertmer is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print.  The Regular Edition is limited to 175 pieces and retailed for $50, while the Devilock Variant is limited to 100 pieces and retailed $75. Both went on sale at 11am CT on Tuesday, October 26th, at MondoShop.com via The Drop.  For those of us who missed out on this release yesterday, a third colorway – the Nothing Left Inside Variant – will go on sale next month at Mondo’s DesignerCon booth.

The Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by 100% Soft x Mondo

The Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by 100% Soft x Mondo

There may be no NYCC this year, but Mondo is bringing the heat today with two epic releases.  Check out 100% Soft’s new officially licensed movie poster for The Return of the Living Dead!  As Mondo explained, “written and directed by Alien and Total Recall scripter Dan O’Bannon, ROTLD is attached to George Romero’s iconic zombie series in name only... and packed with 9001 times more mayhem, mirth and mohawks. It’s a major rager from every angle, all of which are captured perfectly here in 100% Soft’s unique, adorably vicious style.”

“In the Venn diagram of punk rock and horror movies, the reigning champion is always and forever The Return of the Living Dead. It’s irreverent, gory, hilarious and I was in love with it since the first time I saw it on USA Up All Night in the ‘80s. I wanted to make a poster that conveyed how much fun the movie is, and make it as cute and gory as possible. You think this is a fuckin’ poster? This is a way of life!” – Truck Torrence, 100% Soft

The Return of the Living Dead by 100% Soft is a 36”x24” hand numbered screen print.  Limited to 275 pieces, this movie poster will go on sale at 11am today, Thursday, October 8th, at MondoShop.com via The Drop for $55.

Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by Johnny Dombrowski x Mondo

Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by Johnny Dombrowski x Mondo

Today, Mondo is releasing a new movie poster for Return of the Living Dead by artist Johnny Dombrowski! As Mondo explained, “A punk-infused meta remix of the zombie genre, writer/director Dan O'Bannon’s horror-comedy is an all-timer and highly, highly recommended. Johnny Dombrowski’s hyper-detailed design salutes so many of the fine details we love about the film, and we can’t wait to see it on your walls.”

“Look alive, kid. Somethin’ weird going on with Mondo. I mean, where do they get all of these posters, anyway? I wanted to draw something about the real movie – the REAL Return of the Living Dead – but Mondo told me they’d just sue me ass off, so I had to change all of the imagery around. I don’t know what to tell you. Pick one up before their inventory loses its freshness.” – Johnny Dombrowski

Return of the Living Dead by Johnny Dombrowski is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Regular Edition is limited to 175 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Variant is limited to 100 pieces and will retail for $65. Both prints will go on sale at 11am today, Thursday, June 11th, at MondoShop.com via The Drop.

Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by Timothy Pittides

Return of the Living Dead Screen Print by Timothy Pittides & Bottleneck Gallery

Artist Timothy Pittides has teamed up with Bottleneck Gallery to release a truly epic movie poster for Return of the Living Dead! As the Texas based artist explained, “Return of the Living Dead ranked itself as my favorite film the first time I saw it back when it first debuted on HBO in the late 80s. I was immediately engulfed in its dark humor and extremely unique zombie and production designs. This is my Star Wars. So being that it is its 30th anniversary, I knew I had to give it a proper tribute. I had four concepts that I wanted to get across: Sexy, Punk, Zombie and Gritty. So I took those ideas and created something I hope all ROTLD fans can look at proudly and relate to.”

Return of the Living Dead by Timothy Pittides is an 18”x24” three color screen print. Limited to just 75 prints, this awesome movie poster will go on sale at noon EDT today, Wednesday, October 28th, at the Bottleneck Gallery online store for just $35.
