Star Trek Into Darkness Final Movie Poster

After an extremely long hiatus J.J. Abrams and the cast of the Starship Enterprise are finally back! Kirk, Spock and Company’s continuing journey hits the big screen once again this weekend in Star Trek Into Darkness. The Blot’s done my best to avoid all spoilers, but since I probably won’t be able to see the film in theaters now that my new twin boys are here I’ve come to terms with the fact that it’ll probably get spoiled before I get a chance to see the film. I’m not sure I can wait that much longer to find out who Benedict Cumberbatch really is portraying in the film. 

I kinda expected a better final one sheet for Star Trek 2 than this one, but what’s more dramatic than the crashing of the USS Enterprise? Can’t wait to see what kind of box office the film brings in this weekend! Star Trek Into Darkness is set to boldly go into theaters on May 17, 2013.

The print was produced as part of IMAX’ new FANFIX, which is an evolution of the IMAX 12:01 program. This means the limited edition, collectible Star Trek print you see here can never be purchased, it will only be given away to the most avid IMAX fans who are in attendance at select theaters to see Star Trek Into Darkness on opening night at 12:01am on Wednesday, May 15th. Star Trek Into Darkness Character Portrait Movie Poster Set

Paramount has released its second set of Star Trek Into Darkness character movie poster set, but sadly these one sheet movie posters pale in comparison to the film’s first batch of posters (seen here). Although these character portrait movie posters are kind of dull with their yellowish brown color schemes, at least they still feature director J.J. Abrams’ signature lens flair!

What’s great about this set of Star Trek Into Darkness character movie posters is it actually includes different characters from the first poster set. That’s pretty rare these days, but thankfully Star Trek has such a large cast we can get posters for more than just the film’s 4 main leads (Chris Pine’s Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto’s Spock, Zoe Saldana’s Uhura and Benedict Cumberbatch’s unnamed villain). This time we also got posters for Karl Urban’s Dr. Leonard “Bones” McCoy, John Cho’s Hikaru Sulu and newcomer Alice Eve’s Dr. Carol Marcus.

Star Trek Into Darkness Character Movie Poster Set

As you now, The Blot loves everything J.J. Abrams directs, lens flairs and all! Throw in a story by Damon Lindelof, Roberto Orci and Alex Kurtzman and Star Trek Into Darkness is destined to be one of my favorite movies of 2013. Abrams’ original Star Trek film was pretty much perfect, so it’ll be interesting to see if the extremely long hiatus between installments in Paramount’s signature franchise will hurt Into Darkness.

Thankfully the entire crew of the USS Enterprise will be returning for Star Trek Into Darkness, including Chris Pine as Captain Kirk, Zachary Quinto as Spock, Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Simon Pegg as Scotty, Anton Yelchin as Chekov, and newcomer Benedict Cumberbatch as…well, we’re not sure yet. He’s definitely the film’s villain but exactly which old school Star Trek character he’ll be is anyone’s guess.

These Star Trek Into Darkness character movie posters are fantastic! I love how the marketing team used color to tie the posters together as a set, and the blurred special effects do an amazing job evoking action. They’re pretty much perfect sci-fi one sheet movie posters!

Star Trek Into Darkness Benedict Cumberbatch Character Movie Posters

Everything about Star Trek Into Darkness seems to revolve around Benedict Cumberbatch. From the destruction he causes in the film’s trailers to the rumors swirling about whether he is or is not playing Kahn, Benedict is everywhere. He’s also always the focal point of Into Darkness’ movie posters. Heck, he’s getting better placement than the crew of the USS Enterprise (Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Chris Pine as Kirk and Zachary Quinto as Spock). The Blot’s just hoping he really does turn out to be Kahn. I think that would make the movie, which looks awesome, that much better!

Star Trek Into Darknes Announcement Trailer

When did movie studios start using the term “Announcement Trailer”!?! I swear I had never heard of it before until a few weeks ago. So it now goes from teaser trailer to announcement trailer to full trailer? Does it really even matter? Earlier this week Paramount released its first full length trailer for Star Trek Into Darkness. It’s basically an extended cut of the teaser trailer with a really awesome voiceover by the film’s villain portrayed by Benedict Cumberbatch. At this point no one still has any idea what this Star Trek movie is about, but I guess that’s a good thing. It’s definitely ramping up excitement, and speculation on the internet is running rampant. The Blot assumes we’ll all find out soon enough!

Star Trek Into Darkness "Introductory" Teaser Trailer

The first teaser trailer for J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek Into Darkness hit the internet yesterday and it looks awesome! If the movie is even half as good as this 1 minute trailer is then the four long years we’ve been waiting for this sequel to the franchise’s soft reboot will be well worth it. There’s still been no word on the identity of Benedict Cumberbatch’s character in Star Trek Into Darkness. Everyone assumed the film’s villain would be Kahn, but as I watch this trailer again and again I’m starting to doubt that more and more. With Alice Eve almost assuredly is playing Elizabeth Dehner in STID, it only makes sense that Cumberbatch is actually playing Gary Mitchell (or purhapse some amalgam of Mitchell and Kahn). Hopefully we find out soon!

Star Trek Into Darkness Teaser Movie Poster

The first one sheet movie poster for Star Trek Into Darkness (aka Star Trek 2) has hit the internet and it seems like everyone has an opinion about it! Like most, I think it’s an awesome teaser poster…if only it hadn’t come out 6 months after The Dark Knight Rises released a very similar poster. It really is almost an exact rip-off of the effect the marketing of The Dark Knight Rises used in the poster seen here. Regardless, Star Trek Into Darkness’ first teaser poster, featuring Benedict Cumberbatch, is still very cool and I can’t wait to see more!
