Flash Gordon Screen Print by Kilian Eng

Kilian Eng always creates the most epic of sci-fi movie posters, and with Flash Gordon, his latest release from Mondo, he really shows his mastery of color and otherworldly landscape. The Blot loves how Eng has perfectly recreated a key scene from the cult classic film and was able to bring it to life in his unique style.

As Kilian explains, “Flash Gordon is a film with a lot of nostalgic value for me so it was a great pleasure to get the opportunity to create a poster for it. What I love most is the total explosion of color, creative costumes and stunning set design. The film has a unique charm that you can't replicate no matter how hard you try. It’s a sci-fi disco adventure full of energy. The scene I wanted to work with is the whip fight between Flash Gordon and Prince Barin in the Hawkmen’s flying palace. It offered the opportunity for a good solid composition and gave me a chance to draw a lot of characters/costumes and the setting together in a natural way.”

Flash Gordon by Kilian Eng is a 36”x24” hand numbered screen print. Limited to just 300 pieces, this print will go on sale at a random time today, Thursday, July 2nd, at the Mondo online store for $50.

One of The Blot’s all time favorite customs is Sket One’s Sriracha Chili Sauce inspired Sketracaha. After numerous customs on a variety of different platforms (it’s even been fine art!), Sket is teaming up with Bait, Huy Fong Foods and Medicom to release this officially licensed Sketracha Be@rbrick Set at San Diego Comic-Con 2015!!! The minute I heard Medicom would be releasing a production Be@rbrick of Sket’s Sketracha design I knew I had to have one. Then I saw the above picture of his super clean design and it instantly shot to the top of my must have list! The key is just figuring out how to obtain one from Comic-Con.

Random Skull Productions has been producing some killer kitbashed bootleg Star Wars resin figures lately, and they keep getting better! Check out their newest Darth Vader inspired figure, St. Vader! SDCC 15 Exclusive Mighty Morphin Power Rangers “Metallic” White Ranger vs Lord Zedd 2 Pack by The Loyal Subjects

The Loyal Subjects have announced their next San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive Mighty Morphin Power Rangers Metallic Edition 2 Pack, and this time it’s the popular original White Ranger versus the evil Lord Zedd! Each figure features metallic details and comes packaged in a full color window box. This set is limited to just 500 pieces and will retail for $29.99 each.

Each Mighty Morphin Power Rangers figure features 10 points of articulation (including abdomen), removable helmets, strong ball joints and multiple accessories. Toys R Us is teaming up with Mezco Toyz to release this awesome San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Mortal Kombat X Glow in the Dark Edition Raiden action figure! Based on his appearance in the new Mortal Kombat X video game, this 6” action figure features 23 points of articulation, many with ball joints, allowing collectors to recreate all the moves and poses that have made Raiden part of Mortal Kombat gaming legend!

Raiden, the Elder God of Thunder, comes complete in a displayable collector-friendly blister card and includes alternate lightning hands and a lightening ball. To ensure a game accurate likeness to his appearance in the new Mortal Kombat X video game, Mezco’s award-winning design team has digitally sculpted the figure using the digital files from the game developers themselves. This San Diego Comic-Con 2015 exclusive is cast in glow in the dark plastic and comes unpainted.

SDCC 15 Exclusive Skottie Young Marvel Pin Series

Marvel’s SDCC booth last year was one of the hottest destination spots for limited edition Comic-Con exclusive. That is sure to continue again this year with a ton of movie tie-in releases. Thanks to MTV, we now know Marvel will be releasing an amazing San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive Skottie Young Pin Series! The Blot loves a good cloisonne pin and these look freaking amazing! Just hoping I can find someone to snag me some.

The San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive Marvel Pin Series by Skottie Young includes 28 pins in all released two ways: in 4 piece sets and in blind box mystery 2 packs. How great are the Thanos and Rocket Raccoon/Groot pins!?! Here’s what we know so far… The Skottie Young Marvel Pin 4 Piece Sets will retail for $25, while the blind box 2 Packs will retail $12.50.

But that’s not all! The SDCC Exclusive Skottie Young Nick Fury Pin will only be available as part of a pin and lanyard pack for $15, and the Ultron, Ant-Man and Vision pins will only be available in extremely limited quantities for $10 each. However, to get an opportunity to even buy Ultron, Ant-Man or Vision pins you must first make a qualifying purchase. If you spend $30 at the Marvel Shop SDCC booth you’ll be able to buy 1 of these limited edition pins, if you spend $65 you can then buy 2 pins, or spend $100 to purchase all three.

SDCC 15 Exclusive Ant-Man Foil Variant Marvel Screen Print by Kevin Tong & Mondo

Mondo has unveiled its second San Diego Comic-Con 2015 exclusive screen print and it’s this beautiful Marvel’s Ant-Man movie poster by Kevin Tong! Kevin announced on his Instagram page that the Comic-Con release is the print’s Variant Edition. It is being printed on hologram paper, which really makes Tong’s artwork POP!

Limited to just 175 pieces, the San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive Ant-Man Foil Variant Marvel Screen Print by Kevin Tong measures 24″x36″ and can be purchased at the Mondo SDCC booth #835 for $85.

SDCC 15 Exclusive Monster Family Vinyl Figures by Super7 - Honoo, Frederick & Caveman Dino

Super7’s awesome Monster Family line of 4” vinyl figures will be well represented at San Diego Comic-Con 2015, with exclusive new colorways of Leecifer’s Honoo, Bwanna Spoons’ Frederick the Beetle and Josh Herbolsheimer’s Caveman Dinosaur. The Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive “Dying Light” Honoo is cast in blue and white swirled soft Japanese vinyl with red, blue and metallic purple sprays.

The SDCC 2015 Exclusive “Night Light” Frederick the Beetle is cast in glow in the dark soft Japanese vinyl and features metallic gold, copper and red sprays. Toy Review: EE Exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction Figures by Funko

Today the beloved Terminator franchise makes its long awaited return to theaters with Terminator Genisys starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and Emilia Clarke. Is it just The Blot, or does it feel like The Terminator is everywhere this summer? Along with Genisys, which is a soft reboot of the franchise, both NECA and Funko are releasing San Diego Comic-Con 2015 Exclusive Terminator 2: Judgement Day action figures. Funko alone is releasing three SDCC exclusive Terminator 2 ReAction figures. So I thought what better time than now to do a proper review of these fantastic Entertainment Earth exclusive Terminator 2 “Final Battle” T-1000 ReAction figures!

James Cameron's Terminator 2 is still an amazing sci-fi action film that I put up against any other film in the genre. While Arnold’s T-800 may have been the star of the film, it was Robert Patrick’s liquid metal shapeshifting T-1000 that stole the show! To this day I can remember sitting in the theater watching T2 and being blown away by how they transformed Patrick’s body throughout the film. So it’s really cool that these EE Exclusive Terminator 2 ReAction figures revisit some of the film’s coolest T-1000 transformations!

The Blot has been a huge fan of Funko’s Kenner inspired ReAction toy line from the very beginning. These retro figures are based on Kenner’s limited articulation action figures of the ‘70s and ‘80s, which made up for the non-articulated knees and elbows with highly detailed body sculpts and killer blister card artwork. These Terminator 2 figures fit that description to a T! The key here is not caring that none of Funko’s ReAction figure head sculpts look anything like the actors they are based on. It’s intentional on Funko’s part, and helps give these figures their retro feel.

The Blot loves the extra molding Funko added to the “Final Battle” T-1000 to replicate the blasts it sustained while battling Arnold’s T-800. That was such a cool scene, and it actually looks like a retro way to recreate the fight. And how can you not love the all metallic silver "Final Battle Metal Form" T-1000 that recreates the evil robot’s malleable all metal form. I still remember the audience’s gasp when Robert Patrick went all metal and lost his corporal form. For such simple “retro” style figures, these retailer exclusive ReAction figures turned out sick!

What’s really great about these figures are their packaging. Funko spared no expense creating the full color backing boards, which include live still photos from the movie that match each limited edition variants. And like all figures from the ‘70s and ‘80s there’s a checklist on the back of all the figures in the collection. If you’re a collector of Terminator toys and are already planning to pick up Funko’s San Diego Comic-Con 2015 releases, then you will definitely want to buy these Entertainment Earth exclusives!
