Disney is already releasing a second Star Wars x Disney Vinylmation Series 2 Pack, which features Disney characters dressed up as heroes and villains from the Star Wars universe! The Blot’s been anxiously awaiting a follow up release to last May’s adorable Chip 'n Dale Ewoks Vinylmation Set. This limited edition 2 pack features Donald Duck as Han Solo and Goofy as Chewbacca. All that’s missing is a Vinylmation scale Millennium Falcon.

The Star Wars x Disney Vinylmation Donald Han Solo and Goofy Chewbacca 2 Pack is limited to 1,500 sets, retails for $29.95 and goes on sale Friday, August 29th at Disneyland, Disney World and DisneyStore.com.

Popcorns Vinylmation Series 1 by Disney

Disney has finally unveiled its complete line-up of its new Popcorns Vinylmation Series 1 and it’s basically a who’s who of Disney animation! For its first wave of figures, this fun and quirky toy line includes Mickey Mouse, Goofy, Chip and Dale, Dumbo, Kermit the Frog, Sulley, Jack Skellington, and the villainous Chernabog. It’s really got a little something for everyone, don’t you think? The only negative I see to this line is it’s an open edition series, meaning none of the figures in Series 1 are limited edition. Regardless, The Blot definitely wants to get my hands on a couple of these vinyl figures, especially Kermit!

Popcorns Series 1 goes on sale this Friday, September 28th, on D-Street in Disneyland and Disney World, and then one week later at the Disney online store on Friday, October 5th for $24.95 each.

First Look: Disney Pop! Series 4 Part II by Funko

After unveiling the first half of its upcoming Disney Pop! Series 4 two weeks ago (seen here), Funko has now given us our first look at the second half of this exciting new wave of vinyl figures. This batch includes Goofy, Oogie Boogie (from The Nightmare Before Christmas), the Wicked Evil Queen (from Snow White), Wall•E, Grumpy and Jack Sparrow!

The Disney Pop! Series 4 also includes Sorcerer Mickey and Chernabog from Fantasia, Cinderella, Tigger, Eve (from Wall•E) and The Mayor (from The Nightmare Before Christmas). Each figure feature one point of articulation, stand 3.75” tall and come packaged in a full color displayable window box. Disney Pop! This Friday, May 18th, Disney will be releasing an all new Star Wars Vinylmation series featuring your favorite Disney characters dressed up as heroes and villains from the Star Wars universe! Released to commemorate Star Wars Weekends 2012, artist Maria Clapsis has done an amazing job transporting Mickey and Co. to a galaxy far, far away.

Star Wars x Disney Viniylmation Series includes Mickey Mouse as a X-Wing Pilot, Minnie Mouse as Princess Leia, Goofy as Darth Vader, Donald Duck as a Stormtrooper, Pete as Boba Fett and Stitch as Yoda. Each 3” figure in this series will be open edition, sold in a full color window box and will retail for $14.95 each at Disney's online store and at all Disney theme parks.

“Lonesome Ghosts” Disney Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Mondo and Sideshow Collectibles are teaming up once again to release an exciting new Disney print in their Disney Classic Cartoon Series by Tom Whalen! “Lonesome Ghosts” is based on the 1937 animated short of the same name and features Disney’s signature trio of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck and Goofy. What’s cool about this particular cartoon is that it’s rumored to have inspired another much beloved piece of ghost-busting cinema (should be an easy one to figure out). Whalen has really been knocking these posters out of the park, and I can’t wait to see what else is in the pipeline for 2012.

“Lonesome Ghosts” by Tom Whalen is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print, and has a limited edition run size of 390 pieces. The print will retail for $45 and go on sale at a random time on today, Thursday, February 9th, at the Mondo online store.

A National Treasure Found!

The Blot just got back from seeing National Treasure: Book of Secrets, and you know what? It was really quite good. So good even Nic Cage’s bad acting couldn’t ruin the film for me. Now I loved the first National Treasure and both it and the sequel did well at the box office, but there’s just something about a Nicolas Cage movie that makes me uneasy. Maybe it’s the fact that 8 of his past 10 movies (Next, The Wicker Man, World Trade Center, The Weather Man, Lord of War and Matchstick Men) haven’t interested me in the least and most did not do well at the box office. The only non-National Treasure Nicolas Cage movie I even remotely wanted to see was Ghost Rider, and that was only because it was based on a comic book. But I liked the first National Treasure so much and felt the role of Benjamin Franklin Gates suited Cage so well that I knew I needed to see the sequel.

Thankfully I wasn’t disappointed. Obviously as with any Disney movie there were some cheesy, unneeded moments, but overall it was everything you would want in a holiday adventure movie….it had great action scenes, an entertaining comedic sidekick (Justin Bartha reprising his role as Riley Poole), an on again/off again romance with Diane Kruger reprising her role as Abigail Chase and the requisite bad guy played by villain extraordinaire Ed Harris (Pollock, Stepmom, A History of Violence).

Probably the worst part of the movie was the Disney cartoon short How to Hook Up Your Home Theater starring Goofy showed before National Treasure: Book of Secrets. I have no idea why they felt the need to include thi,s but it was dreadfully awful and unnecessary. If I felt the need to watch a cartoon of Goofy clumsily putting together a home theater in the style of an old school Disney short I’d turn on the Disney Channel more often…that is if the Disney Channel ever showed those old Disney cartoons anymore instead of High School Musical 1 & 2 over and over again. But I digress…anyway, if you’re in the mood for some mindless fun this holiday weekend I recommend checking out National Treasure: Book of Secrets and you might even learn some fictitious history!
