Marvel’s Avengers Assemble Micro Mighty Muggs Set

Hasbro unveiled a ton of new Marvel toys last week at Toy Fair 2013, but my favorite announcement was this Avengers Assemble Micro Muggs Set! It includes 2” Micro Mighty Muggs of Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the Incredible Hulk based on their looks in the new animated series Avengers Assemble on Disney DX. It looks like Hasbro has all but abandoned its full size Mighty Muggs line but thankfully it hasn’t given up on the platform. With the rise in popularity of collectible micro figures it only makes sense that Hasbro would shrink their only platform figure they’ve had any success with.

Thanks to Comics Alliance we have the image above from Toy Fair of this set’s bubble card packaging. The Marvel’s Avengers Assemble Micro Muggs Set is scheduled to go on sale as a four piece set in Fall 2013 and will retail for $9.99.

Transformers Mini Figure Series 1 by The Loyal Subjects

Following the recent release of The Loyal Subjects new G.I. Joe blind boxed mini figure series comes word that TLS’ blind boxed Transformers Mini Figure Series is on its way! While The Blot has been extremely underwhelmed by these Hasbro collaborations, this Transformers series looks so much better! While I’m still not all that excited about this release, at least the proportions of the Transformers figures look right. Unlike the G.I. Joe figures, the heads and arms of these 3” Transformers Generation 1 figures look like they were made for the platform’s bodies, and the added articulation at the waste makes the figures look more natural.

Transformers Mini Figure Series Series 1 includes Autobots Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, Grimlock and Jazz, and Decepticons Megatron, Starscream, Soudwave and Thundercracker. While we still do not know how many characters will be included in The Loyal Subjects’ Transformers Mini Figure Series 1, since it will be sold blind boxed style it can be assumed there will be at least 1-2 chase figures and varying ratios per character. Each figure features multiple points of articulation and includes at least one character specific weapon.

Each Transformers Blindbox Mini Series 1 blind box should retail for around $12.99.

The Ultimate Avengers Paw Custom Vinyl Figure by Sekure D

While The Blot isn’t really into Coarse Toys’ Paw vinyl figure, Sekure D absolutely killed this custom! The idea alone is just bananas, but it’s Sekure D’s execution that really makes this Ultimate Avengers Paw one of my all time favorite custom figures. The design itself is an amalgam of the costumes of the four primary members of Marvel’s The Avengers: Captain America, Iron Man, Thor and the Incredible Hulk. I love how seamless the design looks. Sekure D took elements of each hero’s costume and combined them in such a way that makes it look natural. Just look at how Iron Man’s chest-mounted "uni-beam" looks perfect in the center of Cap’s star.

According to Sekure D, this custom “represents months of work; it might not [look] like the most intricate design to begin with but I can assure you this is probably the most labour intensive custom I have made to date, it was just ridiculously consuming. There is approximately 700 scales on the body of Captain America all of which have a drop shadow and then the green and reds I used were unfortunately horribly opaque. We did not fit all the Avengers in there and as you can probably tell I absolutely created a scale of importance with who I did use however this is how I felt the design could be best accomplished.”

ThunderCats Minimates Classic Series 3 Box Set

Action Figure Xpress, Diamond Select Toys and Art Asylum are continuing their popular line of Classic Thundercats Minimates box sets with an all set featuring five all new characters! Classic Thundercats Minimates Series 3 box set includes super-fast warrior Cheetara, brilliant scientist Tygra, youngsters Wilykit and Wilykat, and the robotic Robear Berbil Bill. While I always expected Minimates of the first four characters, I never expected to see a Robear Bill toy. That makes this a must get set for any ThunderCats fan. How I Met Your Mother

So this is probably the latest I’ve ever posted a Barneyism of the Week, but it was so monumental that I didn’t want to accidently spoil it for anyone. It’s been weeks since this episode aired, so no complaining!!! It’s Valentine’s Day, and The Blot could honestly not think of a better day to post “The Robin.” It’s the Barneyism that changes our Barney forever…and helps him grow up more than we’d probably like to admit. Here’s to Barney and Robin, may they live happily ever after in our imagination (and at least one and half more seasons of How I Met Your Mother!).

Tokyo Strain Deadbeet by Scott Tolleson & Nebulon5

For the second time this week Scott Tolleson will be releasing an all new Deadbeet colorway! For this release the Argyle Warrior is teaming up once again with Nebulon5 for an extra special painted Deadbeet. The Tokyo Strain Deadbeet features the classic kaiju “Tokyo” color scheme of yellow, green, black and orange (with silver eyes). Nebulon5 did a great job recreating this colorway and I love how he painted the Deadbeet’s tongue a different color. What’s really impressive is how quickly these last few Deadbeets have sold out. The last few drops sold out in mere minutes! The Blot’s really excited to see how collectors have embraced Scott’s newest creation, but it is making it hard to add a Deadbeet to your collection!

Kevin Tong x Threadless T-Shirt Collection

Threadless has absolutely been killing it lately with their artist specific “Made By” t-shirt series. For its newest collection, Threadless has teamed up with one of my all time favorite artists, Kevin Tong! The Blot is a huge fan of Kevin’s screen prints and designs, and I was lucky enough to meet him a few years ago in Austin at the Renegade Craft Fair. It was pretty awesome learning more about his design process and talking with him about all things pop culture.

“A New Hope” Star Wars Screen Print by Dave Perillo

This Valentine’s Day Dark Ink and Acme Archives Direct will be releasing an epic new Star Wars print by Dave Perillo entitled “A New Hope.” Based on the original Star Wars film Episode IV: A New Hope, “A New Hope” features Perillo’s take on all of the film’s core characters. I love how Dave has taken each character’s original look and redesigned it in his unique art style.

“A New Hope” by Dave Perillo is a 15”x36” screen print sold exclusively at Dark Ink’s online store for $50 on Thursday, February 14th. This fun Star Wars print has a limited edition run size of 240 pieces, comes signed by the artist and retails for $50 each.
