Handcrafted: From Coraline to Kubo Screen Print by Cesar Moreno x Mondo x LAIKA

Mondo has an incredible line up of Black Friday releases this year, including multiple prints, pins and vinyl figures. One of The Blot’s favorites is this wonderful “Handcrafted: From Coraline to Kubo” screen print by the super talented artist Cesar Moreno, and based on the stop-motion animated films of LAIKA. The poster itself was originally created in partnership with LAIKA for the Animating Life exhibit at the Portland Art Museum.

“Handcrafted: From Coraline to Kubo” by Cesar Moreno is a 24”x36” hand numbered screen print. The Standard Edition is limited to 750 pieces and will retail for $50, while the Glow in the Dark Variant is limited to 250 pieces and will retail for $70. Both versions will go on sale at 12pm CST this Friday, November 24th, at the Mondo online store.

LAIKA 10th Anniversary Enamel Pin Series by Tom Whalen & Mondo

The Blot has absolutely no idea when Mondo put this epic new LAIKA 10th Anniversary Enamel Pin Series by Tom Whalen up for pre-sale, but I have to own all four! I am an absolutely huge fan of LAIKA’s 3D stop-motion animated films, and Whalen did an amazing job on these portrait pins.

The LAIKA 10th Anniversary Enamel Pin Series includes Coraline, Bub the Ghost Dog from ParaNorman, Oil Can from The Boxtrolls and Little Hanzo from LAIKA’s newest film Kubo and the Two Strings. Each pin retails for just $10 (Bub the Ghost Dog is a 2 pin set for $15) at the Mondo online store.

ParaNorman Soundtrack Vinyl Record by Mondo with Cover Artwork by DKNG

After originally being released as an extremely limited Record Store Day 2014 exclusive, Mondo will be releasing the standard edition ParaNorman soundtrack tomorrow! At least now The Blot can take a little solace in not being able to score the RSD exclusive Glow in the Dark Edition last Saturday. What’s really awesome about this Mondo x LAIKA Animation Studios release is that while the Standard Edition ParaNorman soundtrack is being released on two 180 gram black vinyl records, there will be a limited number of “Aggie Fights” highlighter yellow with bone haze vinyl records randomly inserted into the run!

The ParaNorman original motion picture soundtrack features music by Jon Brion and cover artwork by DKNG. This is the first time ever the ParaNorman sound track has been released on vinyl, and it goes on sale at a random time on Tuesday, April 22nd, at the Mondo online store for $30.

RSD 2014 Exclusive GID ParaNorman Soundtrack Vinyl Record by Mondo

Mondo is teaming up with LAIKA Animation Studios to release the ParaNorman soundtrack on deluxe limited edition vinyl for the very first time! The Blot’s a huge fan of stop-motion animation, and I love the renewed passion and interest LAIKA has brought to the medium over the past few years with releases like ParaNorman and Coraline. While a standard edition version of the 2LP soundtrack will be released next week at the Mondo online store, this weekend Mondo will be releasing an extremely limited Glow in the Dark Edition as part of Record Store Day 2014!

For those familiar with the works of Jon Brion (Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love) you’ll immediately recognize the melancholy, ear-worm melodies in his score to ParaNorman. Mixed with 80′s slasher throwback motifs and a whimsical family sensibility it is a terrific score front-to-back.

The Record Store Day Exclusive ParaNorman Soundtrack 2LP Vinyl Records features glow in the dark cover artwork designed by DKNG, as well as mystery colored GID vinyl. This edition is limited to just 500 copies, with each copy including randomly inserted clear splatter 180 gram 12” discs that glow one of three colors (red, blue or green). I want this so freaking bad! Too bad there's no way I can camp out early enough to snag a RSD 2014 this limited.

ParaNorman Action Figures by Huckleberry

After debuting at San Diego Comic-Con 2012 earlier this summer with a number of SDCC exclusive figures, Huckleberry has now released their full line of ParaNorman action figures based on the hit stop-motion animated film by LAIKA! This highly detailed toy line features eight 4” figures encompassing all of the film’s core characters and a number of really spooky zombies. The Blot absolutely loved this film when I saw it a couple of weeks ago, and this series of toys really brings those characters to life all over again.

Huckleberry’s line of ParaNorman action figures include Norman in pajamas, Norman with a zombie hand, Neil, Alvin, and four Zombies (Judge Hopkins, Lemuel Spalding, Amelia Wilcott and Will London). All eight figures retail for around $10-15 and are in stores now!

ParaNorman Screen Print by Tom Whalen

Yesterday, Mondo finally released its ParaNorman screen print by Tom Whalen from Alamo Drafthouse’s screening of the film last week! As you know The Blot is a huge fan of Whalen’s work, and I’m actually excited to see ParaNorman. Surprisingly, I don’t really see that many animated movies anymore, but I’ll pretty much always go see a good stop-motion animated film in theaters. I don’t know why but I’m fascinated with the stop-motion process. So much so that Aly and I will be taking our little cousins to see ParaNorman on Sunday for opening weekend…so it better be good!

ParaNorman by Tom Whalen is an 18”x24” hand numbered screen print. It has a limited edition run size of 275 pieces, and could have been purchased via the Mondo online store yesterday, Thursday, August 16th, at a random time for $45 each. However, like with most of Whalen’s releases, these prints sold out immediately.

SDCC 12 Exclusive ParaNorman Action Figures by Huckleberry

Huckleberry Toys is kicking off its all new line of ParaNorman action figures (based on the soon to be released stop-motion animated feature film of the same name) with four San Diego Comic-Con 2012 exclusive variant figures. The toy line features all of the core characters from the film and a number of spooky zombies. The four limited edition ParaNorman SDCC exclusives are Variant Norman with Glow-in-the-Dark hand, Variant Norman in Pajamas, Glow-in-the-Dark Zombie Judge Hopkins and Glow-in-the-Dark Zombie Lemuel Spalding. Each figure will retail for $20 or you can buy the entire four figure for just $60 at the Huckleberry Toys SDCC booth #3449.

Also, be sure to join the cast of ParaNorman at 10:45am on Friday, July 13, in Hall H for a behind the scenes look at the new film. The creators will then be at the Huckleberry booth at 3:30pm for a signing! A limited number of wristbands for the signing will be available for those who purchase sets of ParaNorman figures before Friday. All remaining wristbands will be handed out at some point Friday mid-morning on a first come, first serve basis.

ParaNorman is scheduled to premiere in theaters on August 17, 2012.
