Mondo continues their popular Peanuts Screen Print series with three new posters honoring this weekend’s special day dedicated to vinyl – Record Store Day! All three prints are beautiful odes to one of The Blot’s favorite past times, spinning the black circle. These three record themed Peanuts panels from the 1950s by legendary cartoonist Charles Schulz features characters such as Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Lucy, Schroeder, and Linus. All three posters will be available at 11am CT on Thursday, April 20th, on The Drop at MondoShop.com for $50 each.

RSD Exclusive The Dark Crystal Original Soundtrack LP Vinyl Record

This Saturday, April 22nd, is Record Store Day!!! There are a number of awesome exclusives this year, including this awesome reissue of the original The Dark Crystal soundtrack in honor of the film’s 35th anniversary! This is the first time the soundtrack has been available on vinyl since the film’s original release. The Record Store Day 2017 Exclusive The Dark Crystal Original Soundtrack LP Vinyl Record features Richard Amsel’s original movie poster for the film as its cover artwork and is pressed on 140 gram “Crystal Clear” vinyl.

The Dark Crystal: The Original Soundtrack features Trevor Jones’ musical score written for the film, arranged specifically for an album listening experience. The album was recorded by the London Symphony Orchestra at the legendary Abby road studios in 1982. This release is limited to 1,500 pieces, and can be purchased this weekend at local participating indie record stores.

The 12” picture disc features two new recordings by Gerard, which were written to go with his new comic book series Cave Carson Has A Cybernetic Eye from DC Comics’ Young Animal imprint.

The Breaking Bad prequel is one of The Blot’s favorite television shows on air right now, and I love that SPACELAB9 has teamed up with AMC to release the theme on vinyl. The single’s Side A is Junior Brown performing the Better Call Saul theme song, while Side B is an instrumental version of the song.

RSD 2015 Exclusive WWE The Wrestling Album & Piledriver Double LP Colored Vinyl Records

Record Store Day has announced their long list of RSD 2015 exclusives, and at the top of The Blot’s must get list is this double LP of WWE’s classic ‘80s albums, The Wrestling Album and Piledriver: The Wrestling Album 2! The Wrestling Album was the first album released by the WWE (then the WWF) back in 1985, and featured mostly theme music of wrestlers on the roster at the time. Piledriver was released two years later (1987) and features actual vocal performances from several of the wrestlers themselves. I can still remember buying Piledriver on CD and listening to that album over and over again! I can’t wait to rebuy it for the first time in almost 30 years, but this time on vinyl.

The double LP album, which features the Oscar nominated song “Everything is Awesome” by Tegan and Sara with The Lonely Island, is packaged in a double-wide, LEGO “brick” die cut jacket and also includes an exclusive bonus full color 18”x24” poster featuring the LEGO Record Store diorama built and photographed by artist Ryan Howerter.

RSD 2014 Exclusive Nick Cave RPM Vinyl Figure by Frank Kozik

Back in 2010, Record Store Day released a new platform vinyl figure named RPM. Designed by Frank Kozik, this 3” blind box series was created for and sold exclusively by participating independent record stores. Fast fourward 4 years later and Record Store Day’s RPM vinyl figure is back! This time around RPM has been supersized to a whopping 5.5” tall and will feature the first design modeled after an actual person, musician Nick Cave!

The Nick Cave RPM vinyl figure was designed by Frank Kozik and will be sold exclusively this Saturday, April 19th, at Record Store Day 2014! Limited to just 2,500 pieces, the RDS 2014 Exclusive Nick Cave RPM will include a Record Store Day record accessory and retails for just $19.99.

RSD 2014 Exclusive GID ParaNorman Soundtrack Vinyl Record by Mondo

Mondo is teaming up with LAIKA Animation Studios to release the ParaNorman soundtrack on deluxe limited edition vinyl for the very first time! The Blot’s a huge fan of stop-motion animation, and I love the renewed passion and interest LAIKA has brought to the medium over the past few years with releases like ParaNorman and Coraline. While a standard edition version of the 2LP soundtrack will be released next week at the Mondo online store, this weekend Mondo will be releasing an extremely limited Glow in the Dark Edition as part of Record Store Day 2014!

For those familiar with the works of Jon Brion (Magnolia, Punch Drunk Love) you’ll immediately recognize the melancholy, ear-worm melodies in his score to ParaNorman. Mixed with 80′s slasher throwback motifs and a whimsical family sensibility it is a terrific score front-to-back.

The Record Store Day Exclusive ParaNorman Soundtrack 2LP Vinyl Records features glow in the dark cover artwork designed by DKNG, as well as mystery colored GID vinyl. This edition is limited to just 500 copies, with each copy including randomly inserted clear splatter 180 gram 12” discs that glow one of three colors (red, blue or green). I want this so freaking bad! Too bad there's no way I can camp out early enough to snag a RSD 2014 this limited.

RSD 2014 Exclusive Ghostbusters Theme Song GID Single 10” Vinyl Record by Ray Parker, Jr.

There is a very spooky Record Store Day 2014 exclusive being released to coincide with the 30th Anniversary of the original Ghostbusters movie! It’s this beautiful glow in the dark 10” vinyl record featuring the film’s hit theme song “Ghostbusters” by Ray Parker, Jr.! Not only does the album really glow, but it features the Ghostbusters logo printed directly on the record. So basically you’re getting a picture disc and glow in the dark green vinyl all in one super rare limited, edition release. Along with the original version of the Ghostbusters theme, this 10” single includes three other versions of the song: an instrumental version, a dance remix and a dub version. How can you say no to that!?!

The Record Store Day 2014 Exclusive Ghostbusters 10” GID Single is limited to 2,000 pieces and will retail for $17.99. Who you gonna call!?! Technically the Ghostbusters 10” glow in the dark single is a “Record Store Day 2014 First Release”, which means this is a title you can find on Record Store Day at Record Store Day participating stores first, but at some point in the future (generally four to six weeks) it will also be available at other retailers.

The Blot can’t lie, I really don’t know anything about the hardcore punk band Off!, but this Record Store Day 2014 exclusive is pretty freaking cool! The band, comprised of Keith Morris, Dimitri Coats, Steven McDonald and Mario Rubalcaba, has teamed up with Shepard Fairey to release this Obey Giant inspired 7” vinyl single entitled “Learn To Obey”. Released by Vice, this 7” vinyl record features cover artwork designed by Fairey with two original tracks inspired by the art Shepard delivered. Fans can pick up this limited edition 7” single (limited to 2,000 pieces) at participating independent music stores on Record Store Day 2014 (aka April 18, 2014) for $8.99.
